I'm using a play button, pause button, and a seek bar. All works fine and dandy until I add a UIScrollBar to a text field that's also on screen.... for some reason this really messes with the seekbar; if you start playing the video and drag the seek bar handle all the way back to the start of the video it doesn't start playing again, and if you then move the seekbar forward a bit the video starts but skips all over the place! It's really weird and the problem completely disappears as soon as i remove the UIScrollBar component from the library.
ActionScript 3.0 :: UIScrollbar Doesn't Scroll Through All The Text?
Sep 22, 2008I have a small-ish text field with a decent amount oftext in it which must be scrolled through to view it all. I'veadded a UIScrollBar component (using AS3), and it shows up fine andscrolls the text fine, but it doesn't scroll all the way down tothe bottom of the text, just a little ways into it. If I use mymouse wheel and scroll the text that way, then scroll bar positionindicator suddenly shrinks and then I can use the scroll bar clearto the end of the text. But if I don't use the mouse wheel to dothis, I can't use the scroll bar to get to the end of the text.I've tried using the update() method of the scroll bar afterfilling the text field with it's content and attaching theUIScrollBar component to it. What am I missing here so that I canuse the scroll bar to scroll all the way down through the textinstead of just a little ways?

Note: No runtime errors. No nothing. The text shows up entirely unformatted. I even made an HTML document and imported the same exact css file into that, and it worked fine... It just doesn't work in flash.

Jun 11, 2009For some reason my buttons don't work when I stop on frame 34. Everything else works, but when I stop on 34 the button/actions won't work anymore. I have no idea why. I checked everything that I can think of. The buttons are labeled correctly on the frame.

ActionScript 2.0 :: CS3 XML Variable Doesn't Carry Into Second Bit Of Code
Nov 23, 2009Flash CS3, AS 2.0 so I have an XML file containing the number 72, and this script:

Then later, this script:

The problem is, the variable doesn't carry into my second bit of code. I can add a button and use trace to display the correct variable in the output box, so I know it's getting into Flash. The problem is that it's not applying itself to the second piece of script. Triple checked that the code with by putting in the number manually and using a normal variable, only when I use the XML file as a variable does it refuse to work. I'm very new to Flash so sorry if I've left any important information out, but can anybody shed some light on this?

At this point, almost everything worked perfectly. Everything, but one thing. Apparently, the swapDepths command wasn't working. It was then that I thought maybe swapDepths only works on movie clips.And so I converted the button into a movie clip. I modified the instance names, etc, and almost everything worked. Everything, including swapDepths, but one thing: the gotoAndStop command.For some reason, when I tested the movie clip (containing a button) out, it removed the splat+score and finger_mc movie clips, as well as stoped the background music from playing. However, it did not go to the next scene and frame as specified by the gotoAndStop command. "s1a2" is the next scene, and "gameplays1a2" is its frame.

Mar 12, 2010It seems the simplest way is to use the UIScrollBar, but it will not work in my Flash file.I create the dynamic text box and drop the UIScrollBar on it from the components panel, the scroll bar attaches but only shows up as a white rectangle with no arrows. When I test it it stays the same. I don't think it's just the color because when I hover over or click where arrows should be nothing happens, the text will not scroll. I can click and highlight the text to make it scroll, so I know the additional text that isn't showing up is there, I just can't scroll down to see it.The weird thing is in another flash website I have the UIScrollBar does work. I can drag the problem one from the first file into the second and suddenly the arrows appear. I even tried creating a new text box with the UIScrollBar in the working file then dragging it over to the problem one, but the arrows disappear and the bar turns into a white rectangle again.
