I have a main movie is coding AS2 which contains a movieClip called MC_header.And I have an external movie is coding with AS3.
My question is : Can i loadmovie the external movieclip in the main movie?
I have loaded an external swf into an empty movie clip in my main movie. Movie clip works fine when I test the external swf by itself. Once I test the main movie and load the ext. swf file the movie clip stops working.
This movie clip will act as a button. It is a small folder tab that will move up once clicked and move down when it is clicked again. Will changing the _root to _parent work?

I have a movie. In it are some buttons and a dynamic text field. When I press the buttons is should load text from a database into the dynamic text field. If I run the movie by itself (ie. not by LoadMovie()-ing it into a different movie) the dynamic text field gets filled with text and all is well and good. However, when I use LoadMovie() to load this very same movie into my main movie, the buttons no longer work; the text field stays empty.

My problem is that I want to load an external swf in an empty movieclip and then manipulate this loaded swf from my main movie. For example tell it to go to a certain frame. Is such a thing possible?
I want to load six seperate .swf's into the main movie while the main movie loads too. So in simpler words, i want to be able to load all of the swf's the same time i am loading the main swf.

This code works fine in most of the cases, but I found many SWFs files that it dosen't work with. These SWFs and work with the following code instead:

I really try to use that code - BUT !!! -> if I use this code the external SWF predominant, my main SWF code and all the rest of my code dosen't work (like the setInterval() timer).... I want to load the SWF like the second example and still run the setInterval() function.
I've imported my animations into a single projector using loadmovie.When the external animations finish playing how do i get the main projector to recognise that the animation has finished and move onto the next scene ?
View 1 RepliesI Have a flashmovie thats almost done and will soon hit the internet, but I want to add some animations into the website it�s two gears that I�m about to put at the bottom of the page and when a button releases in the main flashmovie the two bottom gears will turn a few frames and just stand still.These three movies are all separate (main movie, first gear and second gear).
It's a homepage designed in HTML and flash that has this "main flashmovie" in the middle of the screen, the size is about 1500(width)X800(height). And the gears is about 800wX200h placed at the left and right side bottom of the page. I am creating a full site in flash. The main movie has an empty movie clip in the middle of the movie to load external movies as the user clicks on the links. Everything has worked good so far as the linking has only gone 1 level deep. However, when I created a new external movie, and had buttons on it for another external page, but yet to open in the main movie, I can't get anything to work. Example.... In the main movie, the user clicks on the archive link, and the external archive movie is loaded into the main movie. Now, on this archive movie, there is a button on it that links to a another movie (say text effects.swf). However, when they click this button for text effects, I can't get it to load into the main movie clip and replace the archive movie that was currenlty there.
View 14 RepliesI'm using Flash MX 2004, and using the loadMovie() function to draw an external .swf file into a blank movieclip. My question is how the browser (let's assume Internet Explorer) caches this information. I know that after a Flash movie is loaded within an HTML page, the browser caches it, so that on the next load the movie appears nearly instantly from the cache. However, does it also cache the movie loaded using loadMovie(), or does it always redownload that external movie regardless?

- i have 3 separate movie clips (a,b,c)
- my main movie is (a) and when i click a button there, it will go to external movie (b)
- under external movie (b) there's a movie clip that includes my animation and content button
- if i click on the content button on movie (b), external movie (c) will pop up [ it will not replace movie (b) but will just overlap it, it's like a small pop up ]
i did the actionscript and when i'm testing external movie (b), it's working... it's showing/popping up movie (c) but when i tried it on the main movie (a), the movie (c) is not popping on the (b) err, sorry if it's a bit confusing / how i explained it. but hopefully somebody will get the idea. and it won't also return on the main movie (a) when i click on a link from the external movie.
I'm still a rookie in flash and I'm having a little bit of trouble with some actionscript. I've gotten as far as placing the buttons and assign the correct actionscript for them to work. Everything is working fine with the buttons activating the external .swf into a blank movie clip in the main movie. Ony thing is, I would like the external movie assigned to the first button to open once the movie is loaded.
I thought by using the same actionscript i used on the button {and removing the on(release) tag} and placing on the first frame of the main movie would help, but it doesn't.
my problem is that i need to make a reisze, cause the screen resolution for other users. My main and news movie works perfect, but the others movies re-scale everything bigger. The problem of the external loaded movie is: this movie needs the funktion:
Stage.scaleMode = "noScale";
Stage.align = "TL";
If i dont have this code inside the movie is not going to resize fullscreen into the main movie. Inside this movie im scalling photos and some mc's You can take a look what i mean under: [URL]
If you take a look to the bar where the Number of pictures (30) are you will see that the lower bar and the pictures is not going to scale to fill the full screen if i delete the this code;

Im making a movie with a menu that loads movie clips according to which menu is selected simple enough. However, the newly loaded movie clip also needs to allow the user to load another movie into the main movie effectively swapping the first movie clip with the second. This needs to be done without using the main menu.
View 6 RepliesI have a main fla, which has some buttons on the stage. When you click on a button an external swf loads(using loadMovie method) inside container_mc which is an empty movieclip.
On that specific external swf, I have created an empty movieclip called content_mc which also loads external swfs.
Is it possible to call the content_mc from the main fla? For example when clicking a button of the main fla, how can I point to content_mc which is part of the external swf?
I'm building a website, in which the 'Gallery Page' has a link to an external swf file, which is a scrolling clip of thumbnails.
What I want to do, is create each thumbnail into a button, which will then play a Movie Clip from a frame located in the Main swf file. (So basically, each thumbnail button is a small photo, will play that photo in a large scale as a movie)
eg.
thumbnail1_btn needs to go to main swf and play movieclip1.mc, frame 1
thumbnail2_btn nends to go to main swf and play movieclip1.mc, frame 2
I have a problem with preloading external swf's into my main movie actually I have a a seperate preloader setup for each external SWF and when i click a button to load an external movie its not showing a preloader it anoying to wait while movie loading without seeing a prelaoder.

Here is a quick example:

Okay this code does sucessfully create the movieclip but my onRollOver function does not work, and I cannot access any of the movieClips within myMovieClip_mc such as option, it traces out as undefined.

I imagine that the solution lies in readjusting _root for the fact that the external .swf is now placed inside a parent, but I don't know how to do that.

I`m working on a main swf (Main.swf). There are many seites with many themes. On each site (Frames 1,2,3,.....25) There`s a button to get to an external .swf. If I`m in the external .swf, there is a button too, to get back (back) to the mainmovie. Now what I wanted to do is, go back from the external .swf to the Main.swf to its Frame Nr.5, when i press the button "back". With that Code below I can only get to the mainmovie 1.Frame (its Home).

View 3 RepliesI have one swf called main.swf which has a container movieclip that gets external swf's loaded into it.
my external swf is called hosting and it calls an array of data that is loaded into a movieclip that is duplicate for each element from the database. The elements from the database are as follows:
Business
Economy
Power
Standard
Each one of these has a button over it that when press loads information from the database into a movieclip that contains a textbox. My button code is: _root.movieclip.loadVariables("url to database");
This works flawlessly when I run the hosting.swf by itself, but when it is loaded into the contianer in the main.swf the buttons dont work. I believe that it is the _root in the button call that is causing this but I dont know how to fix it. I think the _root variable changes when hosting is loaded into the main.swf.
