i have a action script that read a xml file and put the content of this file in a htmltext box, but when come inside the xml file a code like this"<font color='#003399'>Test</font>" the box (htmltext) appears empty.

When i erase the tag <font color='#003399'></font> in xml the variable "myTextos" appears correctly in my htmltext box.
1. I need to put different font style in one single dynamic textfield. For example,the text is :"Welcome, Fred" and I want Fred to be bold and use "Vernada" as its font while others are left as "Arial"2. I am using embeded fonts and htmltext here, the strings are loaded from external xml files3. I found in the doc that the font tag could do this. So I set the embeded fonts to "Arial" for the dynamic textfield and add <FONT ACE="Vernada">Fred</FONT>in the xml files, but it will not show "Fred" at all4. Of course I added both "Arial" and "Vernada" into the library.5. The problem is when I change the embeded fonts into "Vernada" for the dynamic textfield and modify the xml like <FONT FACE="Vernada" SIZE="25">Fred</FONT>, it works this time. I mean the character size changed to 256. My conclusion is that the font tag only works when its font-family setting for its textfild is as the same that you want to set.

The problem is when I am using any tag in html like <a> doesn't work, doesn't try to open the link and also the mouse doesn't change to the default hand. I am attaching my code in AS3. View 11 RepliesI've got this weird problem with one of my Flash projects.At first it was working fine.And then i decided to externalize the actionscript.On the root, there is a movieclip, wich holds a button.When another button is hit, the movieclip appears (goes to frame 2) and displays the other button (only on frame 2).It worked fine, but since i moved the code frome the swf to an AS-file the button in the movieclip doesn't respond at all.For clearer explaining i made a very basic flash-file.Main button (on root): main_btnMain movieclip (on root): test_mc Button in movieclip: test_btn.[code]

Please help me regarding this issue.Suppose, I have created a simple flash application(say, Test1.fla & Test1.swf file has been generated and works fine). Now, I need to use this swf file in my Java application as son as a menu-item is selected/gets clicked by the user.
But, when I run my whole application in IE7 browser window, If I select the Flash menuitem by clicking on it, then no flash file[viz., contents of Test1.swf file] gets visible.Instead a blank page without any conents is displlayed. In addition to this, it don't/doesn't display any message like this:" Install Flash Player to view the contents of swf file you need."

I have created a swf (exporting) that have action script that adds childs to the stage. When i export the file and see the result it is all ok. But when i use de same file inside a uiloader the action script seems not to work because de childs doenst apeear in the stage.
View 23 RepliesI'm using LoadVars to load variable data into flash from a .txt file.Pretty simple - when uploaded onto a server, I can see the data loaded but no one else can, not even other accounts on my computer!Could this be a CHMOD permission problem? Could this a problem with my AS? A problem with directories? A problem with URLs?Anybody have a good method that simply loads vars from a .txt file and can also do it online?
View 2 Repliesusing an old file that utilizes actionscript 1.0. I tried placing a video component into the file and it doesn't work. This leads me to believe I need to convert my old actionscript 1.0 to at least 2.0. The old actionscript simply moves a movieclip at certain intervals when the play button is pressed or the slider bar is dragged. When I exported the movie using 2.0, the following errors occurred in the compile errors box.Here is my actionscript that causes these errors.

I built a site, and most of the content is pulling from an XML file. I think format some of that text with a css style sheet. When I publish this out on a powerbook running 10.5 with the first release of flash cs4 it works.But when I try to publish the same file on a new macbook pro or iMac the css doesn't work for me. Has anyone run into this kind of problem before?

We use the FileReference component to upload file in Flex. But if the application is deployed within an environment having NTLM authentication (Windows Integrated Authentication), the upload capability will not work, and each time a message box will be popup asking the user to input credentials.I've queried some resource from internet and it seems this is a bug of FileReference component.

All went well except now the website is published, weird things happen. The homepage works fine but when you click on "portfolio" some of the buttons don't appear and when you try the buttons, some images don't appear. Occasionally some of the buttons take you to the wrong place also. When I test the movie in flash, everything works fine so I can't work it out. I am a complete novice so advice will have to be spelt out in black and white.

I'm trying to write a new class which uses away3D, and even though the auto-complete works well when I start a new AS3 file, it just doesn't work as far as away3D is concerned when I try to create a new AS3 Class file. Other features of the auto-complete don't work as well, for some reason.

I decided to try to use setInterval for myanimation, which is just a mouse trail.However, I'm trying to get teh mouse trail to be a dynamic mask.In my previous swf this was achieved by using a holder mc with the animation inside and then using this as the mask. But this time I just canpt seem to hit on the right way to get it to work. The code I am using for the mouse trail is:

I am using in AS3 "External Interface ". When I call the JS function that is on the same page as swf everything works fine.
I added a link in the html page to an external JS file, when I move the JS function to the external JS file the website crushes.
I would prefer to have all my JS functions on an external file so I can use them in the future in other project and it also makes it easier for me to update the site.

I have a button object that I need to scale to align with the variable width of an array of images.However, when I set the width in code, the button does not actually become that width. Tracing out the width gives me the correct value, but on screen.. it's off.
I've proved it to myself by scaling the same button object manually in the properties pane and visually comparing. Both of the buttons below have a width of 410.

I have a swf that is pretty complicated, you can interact with the page and go to different keyframes and it stops and/or starts depending on buttons, but I want to put it in a fla or something so I can put other swfs next to it and build it up and put several of them together as one.
I don't care about making it too complicated, I just want one interactive swf to go to the next compiled swf when that movie ends, but when I try importing it or loading it it just runs straight through without stopping or paying any attention to the scripting.
I am trying to more between frames using the data returned from a node n_EventID in an xml, when the node returns "1408" I want to move to frame 1 but if it returns anything else I want to move to frame 2. The part where the code moves to frame 2 seems to work perfectly but I can't seem to move to frame 1 when "1408" is returned.

I'm having a problem, where random IE's are not able to display my .swf file. All the IE's are IE8 with the latest flash pluggins and all security's are set at Medium, however some IE's get just a grey box and other's get the full flash file. What's going on? It works fine in Safari and Firefox of course, but why so much difficulty with AS3 Flash9 in IE? here is a link to the site, and it's the big image changer at the bottom of the front page.

But my proublem is that I have a flash presentation.The defalt for moving the slide screens back and forth are left and right arrows.It works fine when tested or even the .swf fileBut then the left and right buttons don't respond when I go to fullscreen.
View 5 RepliesIs it common for AS3 apps to not work in IE? Is there a way to make them work? I have a movie clip in my library linked to a custom class Main and I have nothing on stage. Just one frame. Everything is built inside that movie clip. I add that movie clip to stage through a document class and everything works perfectly in Firefox and Chrome but when I open it in IE, it's just a blank page.

this is what i have on the maintimeline:[code]I have 4 moveiclips called: redhex, bluehex, greenhex, and yellowhex.what the above code should do is make a 15x15 grid of hexes (yes i wanted all 4 hex mc's overlapping each other at each space on the grid.).Before i added the lines to dupllicate the blue, green, and yellow hexes also... the redhex movieclip duplicated exactly as it should.But after adding the lines to duplicate the blue, green, and yellow hexes also, in the same locations... Nothing at all showed up when i tested the movie (not even the redhex's)
