I'm using netstream to show a video in .flv.Over this video I need to show a couple of short animations, and when they play, I need to paus the long video so it doesn't plays in advance in the background.I've got this script to pause the movie:

But how do I apply it so that when the timeline hits a certain frame, it calls it. I mean, the user can't really know when to stop to see the animations, so it has to be done at a specific time.

I am making a flash website were the logo will start out at the bottom and play a animation when someone clicks on a button(there will be about five so I don't which one they will click on), the logo will move to the sides. after this animation plays this one time I need to never be able to play again while they are in the website..
View 1 Repliesi have looked everywhere for a tutorial on this - i have tried writing, and re-writing codes....i just cant get it. is there any tutorial i overlooked? here is what im looking to do - NO SHORTCUTS: have my main file that loads the buttons, my external swf container, my intro animations, and my swf "out" and "in" animations when a button is clicked i want it to point me to specific frame labels. i will have an "out" and "in" frame label and which will be the locations of the transitional starting points i want it to play the "out" transition, than unload the current swf, than play the in transition, than load the swf of the button that was clicked i want the animations to all be done using frame labels all within the MAIN swf file.... i have had no luck doing this....and i do NOT like the tween class....

Let me describe what I want to happen.On my homepage I have a DIV container where my video will be located. I want a still image of the video to load with a play button over it.Upon mouse over I want the button to change colors, upon mouse click I want the video to play.I have a .FLA project I'm working. I've got a FLVplayback component, sourced to my .flv. I've created a button and it works. When you click it the video plays.I have 3 layers.
actions (this is the top layer)
buttons (has a button and progress bar)
assets (only the FLVplayer)
The following AS3 is set to frame1 in the actions layer.
I'm using FlashCS4, AS3 and DreamweaverCS4
Here is the weird issue.
#1. While working in Flash.If I do a publish preview the play button with load for a split second and then disappear to be replaced by the still image.If you click on the center of the still image where the play button SHOULD be, the video will play.
#2.If I view this online.The play buttons NEVER disappear, however the still image NEVER loads.

All works fine untill I do something to the loaded swf.For example if I click a button on the loaded swf the button works but then when I click the button on the main movie to load the next and play the transition the transistion doesnt work.If I dont do anything to the loaded swf the transitions work.Is it something to do with the paths being changed when the loaded swf is acivated?

I am trying to make a swf with one FLV playback player and 6 buttons. I've got 6 different videofiles that I want to have linked to this swf. Some of the videos are quit large.When starting the Swf, the first video has to start, after playing it, it has to stop. Then you must be able to choose which video to play by clicking one of the buttons. I don't want to have small thumbnails of the video, just plain and simple buttons.I have to have all my files, both fla, swf and xml files in the same directory (I cannot have them stored in different folders, since I have to upload this to a cms system which has limited upload properties).
I've tried to find the right script on the internet, I'm not very good at scripting myselve, actually rather poor educated there.It seems to me that I have to make an xml file with a list of all my videos, I have my default swf ready, with a FLVplayback and buttons.Now there's just the coding part....
I have created two buttons for separate audio files. Essentially if you click on the button it will play and stop. This works great! I have also injected a SoundMixer.stopAll(); to ensure if you click between both buttons that it will stop the current audio file to play the next one. My problem is when I select the 2nd button for the first time everything seems to be working...it's when I attempt to click on the first button again, that it will require 2 clicks and then it stops and plays accordingly...anyone know how I could eliminate this annoying two click process?

I have five different scenes all including three different buttons. When I test the buttons in "play scene" - all buttons sounds correctly in all scenes. But when I play movie, there is sound only with one button (the same button in every scene). I have looked for differences, but this button seem to have all the same parameters as the others.

I've recently started using Flash in CS4 and finished up a short cycle and exported it as a .mov to find it had clipped the last two frames, Does anyon know why? Or how to stop it from clipping my work?
View 1 RepliesWhile working on a project involving a mask layer and artwork layer the tutorial that explained the procedure said to press F6 to add a new keyframe to the timeline. While on the current frame, the tutor was hitting F6 and a new frame with a keyframe was produced. I need to click on the next frame then hit F6 to make the keyframe. The project is to make a vine look like it is growing and involves making lots of subsequent keyframes in this manner. The tutor breezed through making one keyframe after another - I have to physically advance to the next keyframe THEN hit F6.This really slows things down.

Im working on a small drag and drop project and for the life of me I cant seem to work out how to get my movie to delay before it goes to the next frame.
Basically when a clip is dropped onto the target I need a short delay of about 5 seconds before going to frame 2.

View 2 RepliesSo I'm making my own networking protocol for a online game, to save space each message (sent over TCP) is given a ID which is a short, 2 bytes, all messages sent from the server to the client and vice versa are strings, how can I convert a short to a string in java in just 2 bytes (characters)? I want to be able to convert a short int into 2 characters, so that I can send the short over the network in a string format in just 2 bytes and decode it back into a short on the other side (in actionscript 3). A character can hold 256 possible values right? So 256*256=65,536 which is the size of a unsigned short int!
Here's what I've got so far:

This can turn a int into a single character which can be sent over the network, now I just need to have it use 2 characters and it can do up to a short.
how to create a short video to play before the user clicks on a video to watch. Kinda like a short advertisement (for our department) when the viewer wants to watch one of our football games.
With the help of another user here, I was able to get a video player to work using an xml list containing all of the video file names, once the title is clicked in the .swf file the player plays that video file.

I want only show a segment for that video, for example I want to start from minute 15 until minute 16, Only shows a minute for that video, but, I want to see that video as a complete short video of 1 minute duration.
