ActionScript 2.0 :: CS3 When User Drags The Handle The Masked Image Moves As Well

I am building a sliding image movie. It takes two photos and compares them by using "startDrag" to slide a "setMask" MC horizontally to reveal one photo under another. The idea here is to compare two photos taken 50 years apart.

As you can see I have two MCs here one is a mask and the other is a handle of sort. They work fine separately but I would like to have the two function in unison or as one MC. The handle MC is just that a handle that appears on the left edge of the masked image. So when user drags the handle the masked image moves as well. (or vice versa)

I have run into a drag and drop issue .I have an item that I would like to drag and drop. Seems simple enough, but I also want to make it that if the user drags the image off the screen, that it stops dragging and returns the image to the center of the screen. What happens now is that it continues dragging and sticks to the cursor if you release outside of the viewable area. The original piece has a lot of other things going on, so I ve created a simple piece with the AS in the timeline that shows only this particular issue.

ive got the following code. bevvy is a movieclip, theres a dynamic text box called feedText nd a box.. imaginately called box. I'm trying to create a drag and drop game when the user drags a word into the box that will have its meaning beside it in a text box, the dynamic text box will tell them if they are right or not. if they are right the word stays, if not the word will go back to its original location. the dynamic text box will give feedback whether they are right or not.

the code below means that the word will stay in the box, but the text message is displayed all the time. i also have a reset button to make the word return to its origal location but id rather not have the button.

In the game spank the monkey, how would I achieve the drag and drop functionality of the game? specifications: Press the hand to enable drag and drop As soon as user drags the hand out of the flash movie, the hand is released, despite whether or not the user's mouse is still pressed.If the user's mouse is still pressed even after coming back to the flash screen the hand does not respond until pressed again.I tried multiple things but to no avail.

One of my attempts involved having a constant onMouseMove event handler that flagged a "out_of_bound" area, but mc.onPress = function(){ //drag } does not respond after the initial press.

So I just got CS4 and the all Im trying to do is a tween with a vector graphic expanding as it moves down but it cant handle it, it plays out all laggy and its the same when its published. Can any of you guys help?

Just as a note CS3 does the same job just fine I dont know whats wrong with it I have played around with the publish settings and my frame rate is set to 25fps.

To test it I did the same thing with just a vector square on a new file and it reacts the same way!

Theres no actionscript going on just simple stuff that should work but fine but doesnt

I have a presentation which is split into several different movies which are linked together by buttons, all I am trying to do is add a sound which will play when the user moves over the button, and then another that will play when they click on the button; I got this to work once but it cut off the sound because it loaded a new movie, so I found the onSoundComplete command, which I've tried in a load of different ways but nothing works...
here's the code i've got at the moment:

Should each button get a class and a listener, or should I dump everything into one Object and use e.target.name to figure out what is getting clicked? That way I can just use one listener, but then I won't be able to recycle anything. I could probably work around that though.

I'm trying to make an application in cs4 that allows the user to move a stickman into various positions and then play back the sequence of moves. Despite the fact that I haven't even gotten that far yet I also would need an undo and redo button. I have a few ideas regarding this i.e. logging each body part's coordinates as the user moves them and editing the timeline through some sort of 'record' button and undoing by having some sort of array...none of which I know how to implement into actionscript yet.

I am trying to take a snapshot of the masked region of an image... so, I load my image then perform the following functions:

I have a movie, inside that movie I have a thumbnail editor name ThumbEdit.

ThumbEdit has a movieclip on its stage called "holder1". In the document class of ThumbEdit I create a sprite "_bithold" and place it on the stage at holder1.x and holder1.y. When the image loads, I add the image to _bithold and then mask _bithold with a shape. So, I want to grab a snapshot of the masked region of _bithold but I'm not sure how I should go about doing that.

Slider To Move Masked Image Horizontally?

I would like to have an image that is wider than the viewing area be viewed by dragging a slider left or right, it's basically just a custom scrollbar. My first inclination is to make a mask and put the image behind it, and then I assume I would have to connect the slider to the image somehow so when user clicks and drags slider left or right, the image slides with it to show the part so it that are obscured.

I'm creating a shape in code based on some random points and then using it as a mask for an image. What I'm hoping to do is have the mask fade the image to transparent around the edges. I know I can do this using a gradient mask, the issue is how do I create a gradient on a shape that just fades out around the edges? The shape is not regular, so a radial or linear fill just won't cut it.

Alright, is there some way to keep a clip with masked content from reacting to the mouse?'ve got a button clip with a masked image inside (so the image that goes beyond the button's bounds can't be seen), but, when the mouse rolls over the masked-off image area, the button still reacts. I have a Movie Clip object with a timeline, and it has 3 layers: a layer to stop the timeline at the last frame, a layer with regular drawing with mask attribute and a layer containing a target movieclip with the instance named 'target', that is masked by the layer above.

The drawing is very simple, not even a movieclip, just vector drawing. It's supposed to show the target movieclip only on regions where the mask layer has some drawing, right?

So, I created the method to load an image, listen to the complete loaded event and add the image to the target masked movieclip, but it disappears after the first frame! If i delete the layer with the mask drawing, works fine.

This probably will be very easy for some, but I am stuck on this. I have a map in a movieclip(mc_map) on stage and a small square which acts as a mask to the really bigger size of the same map. What I am want to do is that when I move the mouse on the mc_map(eg: say my cursor is on New York), the small sqaure window will unhide the same area, or will move that bigger image such that the same area is shown under the square mask. I also want to add another cursor(or crosshair) to the stage which is live only in the area of the square and replicates the position of mouse on map.
