ActionScript 3.0 :: Capturing Data From User Input?

Jan 23, 2011

I'm sure it's easy to do, but I just cannot figure it out. I've created a timer but want to let the user set default values to start at so they don't have to modify the start time each time the program starts.I was able to create a text box but it is un-editable in the actual program. It displays '00' nicely but it's useless. I haven't even gotten to the point where the data is pulled and stored.

ActionScript Code:
var timerHrs1:TextField = new TextField();
timerHrs1.type = TextFieldType.INPUT;

ActionScript 3.0 :: Capturing User Input Restricted To Just Numbers?

Nov 14, 2008

I've written a function that restricts user input to just numbers (0-9,.) and stores the input in the associative array, userInput[]. It works but seems inefficient looping through the entire input text string to scrub out invalid characters. Anyone have suggestions for a more efficient approach? Note that a working solution must correctly process mouse or cursor key movements/edits within the input box.

Also, you can see I'm using the KeyboardEvent.KEY_UP event to trigger the processing. The docs seem to indicate TextEvent.TEXT_INPUT is really the proper event for this purpose. I started with TextEvent.TEXT_INPUT but found the event is triggered before the last key pressed is actually added to the instance. The result is that the function was always one characterbehind. Is there an easy way to get the current text in the input box, including the last key pressed, when processing TextEvent.TEXT_INPUT?

Capturing Mouse Events In Flash Outside Of Stage Doesn't Work In IE?

Jul 19, 2010

I am trying to capture mouse events in flash while the mouse is being held down. The intention is to keep reciving events as long as the mouse is pressed, even if the cursor leaves the flash element. That's the behavior I get on all browsers other than IE, which only fires events while the cursor is inside the stage.

I'm pretty sure I've seen such "well behaved" flash applets work in IE before.

IDE :: Dragging MovieClip To Stage From User Interface?

Oct 8, 2009

What is the difference between dragging a movieClip to stage from the user interface and inserting it from code? What I mean is....I noticed that if I drag a movie clip from the library to the stage, give it an instance name ('xx'), I can access it from code using "this.xx". However, if I add the movieClip from code using:

var ch = new MovieClip();
ch.name = 'xx';
addChild(ch);
I cannot access it using this.xx, but I have to access it using this.getChildByName('xx');

ActionScript 2.0 :: User Spinning MovieClip On Stage

May 12, 2005

I have a movie clip on the stage, which is a record. What I want, is for the user to be able to move the mouse over, click down, and spin the record left and right. To confuse matters, I would like to keep the record spinning (tapering to a stop) after they flick the cursor across the screen in either (any) direction.

I also need to set a maximum velocity (?), whereby when it is spun hard enough, an event is triggered. I gather this will just involve querying the number of rotations within a given time. The alternative is to just make a spin animation that activates when its clicked, but I figure this would make it a lil more interesting.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Scale Up Stage According To User's Screen Resolution?

May 9, 2010

Is there any way to scale up stage according to user's screen resolution?

because:

stage.align = StageAlign.TOP_LEFT; stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_SCALE;

and width: 100% in html document

doesn't work when screen is widther than flash site.

I managed to size up stage in AS2 but I have no idea how to do that in AS3.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Game Won't Start Until User Clicks Stage

I'm a student at Drexel University and I just completed a basic platformer for a actionscript class. My professor docked me some points for the game not working until the user actually clicks within the swf. I've heard that this problem is caused on mac osx, but I don't have any concrete evidence to get the points back. Here's a link to the game if you want to check it out.

Actionscript 2.0 :: Letting The User Capture A Region Within The Stage?

Mar 2, 2009

what I'm trying to do is allow the user to pick a section of the stage, click, and have the region defined be copied and show up on the other side of the stage. It may be better explained to think of it like a camera game. The player has cross hairs, can move the square (which tracks the mouse) around the stage, and click to capture that square's pixel information, store it to a new movieclip and display it on another area of the stage.

I've found many resources online about capturing BitmapData, including capturing from embedded FLV videos, but I haven't seem to be able to find anyone who has created something like this which captures from a moving region. However, I have seen it done before in a game that is no longer online from PBSkids.org.

Here is what I have so far. Right now, when I click the movieclip loads all white pixel data and I'm not sure why.

[flash=]import flash.display.BitmapData;
import flash.geom.Rectangle;
import flash.geom.Point;
stop();

ActionScript 3.0 :: Create A Game Where Circles Appear On The Stage And When The User Clicks On One It Disappears And Their Score Is Updated?

Dec 12, 2009

I'm trying to create a game where circles appear on the stage and when the user clicks on one it disappears and their score is updated. The circles appear for a short time then dissapear. If they dissapear before the user clicks the user looses points. The game is to last 20 seconds then the user will be shown their score and a little thanks for player message. This is what I have so far:

stop();
addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, playGame);
function playGame(Event):void    {

[code]....

Now what I'm having trouble with is all the timing. I need a way to turn the visibility off the circles after a few seconds of being created and I also need to set the duration of the game for 20 seconds.

Asp.net Mvc :: Capturing Video From My Website

Aug 18, 2011

Is there a how-to I can follow to help me in selecting technologies and in implementing my solution? the exact behaviour I would like to implement is as follows:

1) page loads
2) webcam starts recording
3) user hits button
4) webcam stops recording
5) video is stored on my server

I have an MVC3 app I need to enhance with video capture functionality. I don't yet understand all the pieces involved but it seems I may have to choose between Flash (which is not supported on iPhones and iPads) and Silverlight.it also seems I need a server-side component like the Flash Media Server. Honestly I'm overwhelmed with all the choices (having to learn ActionScript, Flex, what not).it just occurred to me: if anyone's come across a service that will manage the process for me, that too would be very cool. I'm thinking that maybe someone out there (haven't found them yet but maybe it's a matter of poor keywords) has servers and offers a url I could use in an iframe to have them capture the video for me

ActionScript 3.0 :: Capturing The Scroll Wheel?

Mar 13, 2010

I have a Flash application in which I would like the user to scroll a UI element by moving the scroll wheel on the mouse. My problem is that the Flash application is embedded in an iframe that also has scroll bars. So when I use the scroll wheel, even when the mouse is above the Flash application, both the Flash application scrolls (like it should) but the webpage also scrolls, which I would like to avoid.

So is there some way to avoid this behavior? Can the flash application capture the mouse so that hte events no longer bubble up to the containing page?
