I haven't been able to find documentation on why loaded movies via 'loadMovie' into another movie clip don't seem to obey onEnterFrame commands. The following code represents a movie clip, 'container', which has a loaded external .swf file, 'box.swf'.
I have set the container to begin a decreasing alpha change. I've also added a trace to see if the onEnterFrame is performing at all. What happens is that the box does not appear to have an alpha change. There is, however, a trace that returns an output of '100' only. But no other numbers, suggesting that the command has stopped.

i have flash cs5 professional and adobe flash builder, SDK flex builder 4.0, publish with flash 10, and find that a simple "hello world" doesn't work. Dont output some message of error.What i do is create a new flash proyect save the fla file and then create a class where in the constructor i put the trace function with the message "hello world".I follow the instruction, and concepts, and understand everything, im not a new programmer i have experience with several lenguages.
Basically I have a class called player.as The symbol "Player" is the only linkage it has.[code]It is trying to make the player, a movieclip onscreen, with an instance name "Player", move with the arrow keys. Sadly it doesn't work.
I made an AS3 animation with Flash. The SWF work perfectly playing directly in the Flash Player.If I read the SWF file in a browser, interactions like "onRollOver" or "onEnterFrame" doesn't work anymore.
Which one to use??? What are the performance considerations. If all my movieclips on-stage are running a MovieClip.prototype.onEnterFrame = function() {run initial stuff before setting onEnterFrame=null/undefined... }, will there be performance hits? It's sad that delete onEnterFrame doesn't work unless I delete the prototype enterFrame as well, which would make the clips reinitailise itself again once you declare the enterFrame prototype again (i need to do this since there's more movieclips that end up appearing on-stage, and they need to automatically initialises themselves the moment they appear).

I'm trying to exit the loop and go to frame openWin but that doesnt jumps so I tried to delete the onEnterFrame but the loops contiues.
1) how can I exit the loop to frame openWin? thats most importent it's what I need!
2)if I dont use this.onEnterFrame = function(){ just earth.onRelease = function doent work either unless its in the onEnterFrame why? the earth has animation on it but here i'm using it just as a button so I see no conection to why it isnt working unless its in the onEnterFrame?
I decided to try to use setInterval for myanimation, which is just a mouse trail.However, I'm trying to get teh mouse trail to be a dynamic mask.In my previous swf this was achieved by using a holder mc with the animation inside and then using this as the mask. But this time I just canpt seem to hit on the right way to get it to work. The code I am using for the mouse trail is:

in the function, but now the trail doesn't resize and the mask still doesn't work.
Within that same MC is a button that tells it to close. However, I run a trace command to it and nothing happens. It seems like the onPress nested in the onEnterFrame is over-riding my button on(press).
I have a button object that I need to scale to align with the variable width of an array of images.However, when I set the width in code, the button does not actually become that width. Tracing out the width gives me the correct value, but on screen.. it's off.
I've proved it to myself by scaling the same button object manually in the properties pane and visually comparing. Both of the buttons below have a width of 410.
i'm very new to Flash (although have plenty of experience in Java, C++, PHP, etc). For a University assignment, I am creating a World Cup Guide and i'm creating a countdown to the tournament. I've followed a tutorial and modified it slightly but i'm receiving an error message. The error message is:
I am working with a flex project with a main mxml file and two actionscript classes that draw graphics. From reading tons of articles and posts I discovered that they must extend UIComponent, which they do. The first actionscript class draws the image fine. The first class then makes the call to create a new object. The second object does not display. In the pure actionscript version I had to pass the stage as a reference for the second class to draw.
I also found a similar question here at stackoverflow:UIComponent extended class isn't showing UIComponent extended class. But I was not sure how to apply it to my example.Which, if any UIComponent methods should be overrided for the second object to display? How specifically should I implement them in this example?

I use Flash Professional CS5.5 with Gaia FrameWork in my project. movieclips in the project have extended classes and the problem is that when I give new functionality to my classes they doesn't work in an build project. for example function s cann't be found, trace doesn't work and so on. All the old functionality works. When I change class name then it works fine. but then it happens again. I made new project and coped all the content, but still it happens. I event rainstalled flash but nothing works.
I was asked to update some information on a certain project. The weird thing is that whenever I try to export the movie from Flash (I work with CS3 Professional), I get errors. Before even changing anything. All of them are reporting MovieClip not being recognized ("The class...... must subclass flash.display.MovieClip since it is linked to a library symbol of that type" (and a few SimpleButtons too). There is a total of 57 errors. All the classes import and extend MovieClip.
Now I'm pretty sure this doesn't have anything to do with the code itself, since this project was already published and tested working as it is. I tried adding Class paths in the preferences menu but this didn't seem to help.

I'm currently trying to learn about how to work with classes inAS3 and for the moment i'm stucked in ho i should do if i want to use several classes linked to the same .FLA-file.what i want is to have lets say 5 different classfiles that each should be connected to the same FLA-file and i also want to communicate between the classes theirselves..
I dont understand how extend workes.. when i extend a class,will it replce that class entery point or will a class that extends another have "two" entery points? And can i pass paramters to the extended class?
I'm making a game which loads map .swfs at runtime. The maps will contain graphics and code, which can both vary from map to map. I've decided to make all the maps implement an interface, so they can all be used in the same way by the game. I'm using a .swc to contain the interface, like in this page.
I can get classes to work in the .swc, but not interfaces!

I have a movie that reads class files located in folder called 'src' and has been working once I changed the path to absolute. for some reason now my movie has decided not to work.
this is how I create the path:
Go to porperties and click 'Edit' then clicking the AS3 'settings'. I then go to the 'Source path' tab and click 'browse folder' icon to the folder of the classes. having done all this my movie still does not work.
I can't make the tween to work. I've tried hundreds of tutorials and such (and they are all basically the same), I even followed the troubleshooting section of this tut with no results.If I download any file with that same script it works, if I copypaste it and do the exact same thing it doesn't. Maybe is something very simple that I just can't see but this is driving me nuts.
i'm trying to learn about clases, and i tried to make an easy XML loader, but i gotta a problem with the attributes that doen't take the value i provide with the att variable. it shows me on the trace statement like undefined, and for example if i change the atrribute instead of being dynamic, to be static, it does work.

I have a swf that is pretty complicated, you can interact with the page and go to different keyframes and it stops and/or starts depending on buttons, but I want to put it in a fla or something so I can put other swfs next to it and build it up and put several of them together as one.
I don't care about making it too complicated, I just want one interactive swf to go to the next compiled swf when that movie ends, but when I try importing it or loading it it just runs straight through without stopping or paying any attention to the scripting.
I'm trying to use Greensock LoaderMax on a Starling Framework project, but since Starling have a lots of its own class, how I can make it work with other classes that is using the native class?
I am trying to more between frames using the data returned from a node n_EventID in an xml, when the node returns "1408" I want to move to frame 1 but if it returns anything else I want to move to frame 2. The part where the code moves to frame 2 seems to work perfectly but I can't seem to move to frame 1 when "1408" is returned.

I'm having a problem, where random IE's are not able to display my .swf file. All the IE's are IE8 with the latest flash pluggins and all security's are set at Medium, however some IE's get just a grey box and other's get the full flash file. What's going on? It works fine in Safari and Firefox of course, but why so much difficulty with AS3 Flash9 in IE? here is a link to the site, and it's the big image changer at the bottom of the front page.
