I am attempting to create a game for a business in flash and am looking for some counsel. I have a scoring system set up, and when you click in different areas the score is added to your total. Well I need a bankrupt button script that would clear your score (obviously) and a script to take the two scores that are displayed in their separate fields, and declare a winner.

Now I have a keypad where you punch the numbers in, and they display inside a dynamic textbox. I have a clearkey mc that I'd like to have operational. My initial thoughts were to use atm.textfield.text == "" that way it'd clear it. Nope, no luck. Any ideas on how to reset a dynamic textbox to blank?

View 5 RepliesI'm working on a game whose background has many layers that each scroll at different speeds.
Inside each layer I have a Sprite, I've started using graphics.beginBitmapFill, but what I've found is that the graphics.clear() function doesn't actually clear the contents set by the previous call to graphics.begin.BitmapFill. Each frame, I adjust the matrix to shift the layer as needed. Then, I call graphics.clear() and graphics.beginBitmapFill() with the adjusted matrix. Since my layers have alphas in the bitmap, I can see the contents that was drawn the previous frame.
I'm having an issue with the PDF displaying outside the viewable area of the mx:HTML control in Flex. When the application starts up - the mx:HTML is set to a certain size, but can be enlarged if the application is maximized. I'm running ant to compile a Flex application, and the build keeps failing when running it on a windows command line. Other people in my team can successfully run the very same build under mac and linux. This is the error shown in the command prompt:

All tokens are set in corresponding build.properties and filter .properties files (and, as I said before, it compiles perfectly under mac and linux). The windows version is 7 Ultimate, FLEX_HOME is set as an environment variable to the Flex SDK 3.5 (the 3.5.0.12683 build that comes with Adobe Flash Builder Burrito). ${compiler.fork} is set to false, to avoid an issue with the SDK and the source files being in different logic drives.
I'm using Flex in Flash Player 10 on Windows, using FileReference to load a file into memory, as below.My issue is that when a file is locked by Windows, my FileReference is not giving me any feedback that the file is inaccessible--it simply never dispatches any events after my calling load().Does anyone have insight into how to tell that Flash Player is unable to open the file?

From an Adobe Air application, I need a function to launch the Windows Virtual Keyboard (c:windowssystem32osk.exe). I tried the Native Process, but it didn't work when telling it to execute cmd.exe /C osk.exe. How should I launch the keyboard application from an Adobe Air application?

View 1 RepliesI have a mp4 file which is to be used in an application. Currently i am in the stage of figuring out the technology to be used for this job. I am familiar with flex and am hoping that i be able to use it for the application. But i can not figure out a way to play the file in flex. I have been able to play the file only in windows media player and that required the installation of three codecs : Mp4Audio.ax, Mp4Video.ax, Mp4Src.ax.
As i see it, it will be very convenient if i could embed a windows media player plugin in flex or i could specify the audio and video codecs in the flash player
I have a flex application (.swf) and want to create a projector file. When I choose File-> create projector I get the .app file because I work on a Mac. I know I can create both projector formats for windows and mac using the export feature in Flash Professional. But this is not an option since it's Flex.Is there any other way rather than switching to windows to create the file?

View 1 RepliesI am working on a short animated story, which has a scrubbable timeline and chapter headings. I used TimelineMax for sequencing it. For the most part, it is working fine. I am seeing some strange behavior that pop up, though: sprites disappear, functions stop responding to user input, seams of the sprites become transparent -- all small issues but pretty hard to nail down because they happen in Mac only.
So I am wondering what is wrong with Flash, and why it misbehaves on a Mac?

When we use NetConnection in combination with a NetGroup to initiate communication between two local AIR applications on Windows XP, they always both connect to the NetGroup succesfully and detect each other as neighbors. These applications can connect and send message to each other without a problem on Windows XP. On Windows 7 however, they cannot.Does anyone know why this wouldn't work on Windows 7 and what steps can be taken to make it work? It's critical to our project that this works.In some cases, the applications take quite a long time to detect each other as neighbors (up to 15 seconds in some cases), in other cases they detect each other immediately. I have a project I am working on in which I would like to teach how to cash a scratch off card. I have made the scratch and made it so it will "scratch", however my masking technique seems to not be working how it should...
The idea is that the user would "scratch" the card and then hit "Next" after that it would load a new frame (Progress Bar would move) and then do what they need to on that frame, and so on.
However it would seem that Flash is keeping the users "drawing" and still allows them to draw after the first frame, which is not what I want.[code]...

I've got two UILoaders on my stage, when you click various buttons it makes various pics appear in them, I want to put a button on my main stage that would clear the images out of the UILoaders when it was clicked, and would just leave them blank. View 0 RepliesAt the moment I have Clock and if I start it a message appears just above the clock saying "Timer started" and if I press the stop or reset, another message appears saying "Timer stopped" or "Timer reset", the only problem with it is that the previous message(s) are still on the screen.

I've got a video page with an XML based playlist all contained in one swf. I can us flash vars to load in variables to the swf to make it play a specific video (eg.[URL]), if you would like to link directly to a video.Is there a way that when i than click to play another video from within the playlist, that it would also clear the variable from the URL? Or have it update the variable (so it would switch from ?vidID=13 to ?vidID=20 for example), and do so without reloading the swf? (the swf loads with a main video page, which lists new videos etc., and than you can choose videos from the playlist)Right now, when you direct link to a video, than choose another video to watch it keeps the same video ID within the URL... which can be a problem if people just copy the URL thinking that is the correct one.

I have two key frames on the Stage. The first one is empty; the actual movie starts from the second frame. Under some circumstances I have to clear everything on the stage and reload the movie. I remove all the movie clips and go back to the first frame. Unfortunately, it doesnt work with components. Can somebody tell me how I can remove everything from Stage? I tried btn.destroyObject(btn._name) but it seems it doesn�t work (the object cannot remove itself). And after several times I move back to the first frame, the components go broken
