ActionScript 2.0 :: Close External FLV When Complete?

I have a button when clicked I want to play an external flv (this doesn't have to be used on the web) I just want it to close by itself once the flv has finished. I assume i need to use an eventlistener?

[URL]I have: main.swf (a menu) and I have module.swf (content)If you navigate to Subsea Wellhead Systems/SS-15 BigBore II and click on that I have it load an external swf which covers most of the parent. So far so good. My problem is unloading the loaded 'Child' swf with the button provided on the loaded 'Child' swf.below is the code I used to load the file but I cant, for the life of me, find a way to unload it.

I promise I have done searches and I admit I have found asnwers but still they are not working. I found the code below:

Basically I have a swf portfolio site. I have to load anexternal swf that's the same size as the main swf site, which meansthat the close button (for the external swf) needs to be on theexternal swf. I have the load and unload code on the main swf, butI'm getting a 1120 error - it's not recognizing the instance of theexternal button....and I don't see how it would recognize it,unless there was some other way of linking the filesbtw - I'm fairly new to AS3 & AS2, but they're at leastmore fun than the Pascal & TSR-80 basic I remember fromelementary & middle school...:0)

Is this even possible? What I want to happen is I want people to click "watch video" and it makes a pop-up with the Flash video player in it. Within that video player I have a "close" button.Is it possible to click that close button and close the whole pop-up?

this only happens when I'm running from my local web server. The external swf get loaded just fine and I get the progress event, but just not the complete event.
Here are the three events I listen for currently

I have a video complete event that was working wonderfully, when it was part of my main SWF, but now I have pulled it out and have it as an external SWF and is being loaded into the main timeline. Now it does not work.
I now get this error on compiling:

This is code is inside off a movieClip called "reconnect_video" which is nested inside of a movieClip called "journal_open". So the parent of this movieClip should still be the same. The "journal_open" movie clip is the one that was removed from the original SWF. (due to size) I am now loading "journal_open" externally, and since then this error has appeared.
Do I have to do something different since this is no longer the main SWF?

Currently I'm trying to call a window.close with external interface. It works fine, however, I also have a window.beforeunload call in my javascript so the close button ends up calling two windows. One is the "this page is trying to close...blah blah blah" and the other is the custom one i wrote.
Is there anyway to call onbeforeunload combined with window.close from external interface so that i only get one warning?

I have created the following preloader saved as "preloader.swf" that loads an external SWF file as follows:[code]I was reading to try avoid the PROGRESS and COMPLETE events since these events don't work 100% of the time.Now my question is this: is there a way of how I can go about to have the same functionality of loading an external SWF file (as above) but WITHOUT using the PROGRESS and COMPLETE events?

I recently created a site using the "Transitions between External SWFs" tutorial for Flash MX 2004. I use this to load the sections of my site into the main movie file. Each section is an External SWF file. When a viewer clicks on a navigation button, the specific external swf move will load and play. Currently, a viewer would need to click on another navigation option to close the current external swf file. I would like to add a close button to each of the external swfs so that a view has the option to close the window without clicking on a naviagtion link.

I made a test where I download a file using URLLoader - something like this:

in the middle of the downloading process I physically disconnect the internet connection. the download stalls - but after aproximately 30 seconds downloadSuccessful is invoked, although only half of the data was downloaded. how can I make sure that the data to be downloaded is complete and correct?

I am loading in binary files with the url class which can be quite large 10mb + and it works fine on my server but another server I am testing on it can sometimes not work. Sometimes it will not load the file and other times it will only load about 20% and it throw a complete event??? Then of course other times it works fine. This server is https maybe that has something to do this it?

i have an SWF file, which loads an external SWF... and the external SWF file is an image gallery that dynamically loads images..this is the code and it works to some degree...

my problem is that the external SWF file is added even though the images in it have not yet been all loaded.. this is because flash (probably) calculates the file size of the "raw" external SWF without realizing that it (the external SWF) will run another script on its own to load the images.. so technically, flash doesnt account for the images that will load...therefore the "COMPLETE" eventlistener only listens for the "raw" file size of the external SWF...
basically, i guess what im trying to say is, is there a way i can tell flash to "addChild" the external SWF only after it has run the script and loaded the external images as well...in case you're wondering, this is the code inside the external SWF that adds the images:

I opened from my main swf a new one with addChild. Now in the 2nd swf i need a button to close this swf and open another one ... I done this way because the button i puted in the main swf does n´t work (maybe because i´m using in both swf liquid layout with a resize function). Let me start by mentioning that I am using a program called "Koolmoves" that outputs AS3 compliant flash for player 9-10.
For some reason my filereference is not recieving COMPLETE event. Every works fine and file is uploaded etc, and I see the byte total match up in my progress event. but never get the complete event, I also tried the uploadCompleteData event as well and have tried with the PHP code sending a response and also without.
