View 2 RepliesI'm doing a basic hitTestPoint which works fine when everything is placed on the root of the flash file. However it fails when all the elements are placed within a movieclip. I've a feeling the problem is due either to the registration of the objects changing once they are placed in the new movieclip symbol, the 'relativity/absolutness' of my referencing or the "hitTestPoint (dragable_object_mc.x, dragable_object_mc.y, true)" part of my code.I have two movieclips: dragable_object_mc - which you can pick up and dragstatic_crashzone_mc - If you drag the other object into this a collision is 'traced' in the output window(it works fine until I place the _mcs and code into a new _mc symbol)Incidentally if I use the 'hitTestObject' code on the root or within a movieclip, it works fine.[code]

View 5 RepliesI have a simple flash movie that contains multiple frames which make up the sections of a simple site. I have built the navigation so that when you click a button, the movie advances to the proper frame/section. So far so good.My problem is that when I get to the FAQ section of the site, the movie clip that makes up the faq answers plays to the second frame, not the first. The first frame of the movie clip has a stop action in the actionscript, as does the second. But no matter what I do, any time it loads, it quickly plays to Frame 2. I do have buttons that play different frames of this movie clip, but they are attached to mouse over events and nothing else.

I have one keyframe before this which contains the preloader using the following script:[Code].The preloader seems to be coded correctly. The problem is that when I upload the file to the web there is a long delay before even the preloader appears. It eventually does appear at about 90%. It continues to load up to 100% then the game starts as required.I obviously want the preloader to start playing from 1%, its like the swf is trying to load all of the graphic before the preloader loads. I have multiple classes.
View 4 RepliesI am trying to dynamically resize an flv playing back in a flash player. To do this, I need to get the flv's width/height so I can maintain the original aspect ratio. I have noticed that in Firefox the onMetaData event will be hit right away, and the video will resize properly. In IE however, onMetaData is not hit until the buffer is full and video starts playing.
One solution I have thought of is to set the initial buffer to something close to 0 (e.g. 0.01). Then the buffer will instantly hit full, and the video will be resized. The issue I have with this is low bandwidth users will have a a short 'sputter' of video (0.5 seconds say) at the beginning before it goes to the next, larger, buffer. Is there any better way to deal with this behavior in IE? Can you manually "get" the metaData from an FLV file before it even plays?
Generally, I like to use onLoadInit because it gives me accurate widths and heights. But when I have an external SWF file with a video embedded in it, I find that onLoadInit always fires a second or two after the video has started playing.
View 6 Repliesi just would like to know how to create an "hitTest" script inside a movieclip that is actually part of that hitTest code?I mean... I have mc A, and mc B. and the current hitTest code im using (that is on the timeline) makes mc A, destroy mc B when collide with it... but there are many mc B on the stage (with the same instance name) so, when mc A collide with one mc B, it destroys ALL mc's B... but i want it to destroy only the mc B that he collides, not all the others... maybe an hitTest script inside a movieclip B would work (somethig like "if MC A hitTest ME = i die" (not all the others)).

I am using the code (below) for the Base class of a Bubble Game (of sorts), and the problem is, that when popped, the sound plays a little too late, not spot on.

I have a YouTube video embedded in my page. It is hidden (display:none). You need to click one of the video link buttons to display the video and play it. The links are defined like this:

It's fundamentally pretty simple! But here's the problem. since the video player is hidden, the flash object is not activated. So when I click a video link, the line ytplayer.style.display = 'block'; displays the video player, but it takes about about half a second for flash to load. During this time it cannot accept any method calls, such as the next line ytplayer.loadVideoById( id, 0, 'hd1080' );. Essentially, I have to click the link twice, once to load up the flash video player, the second time to actually load the video into the player.

So any body have any idea how to make that without loading via other file. i have to add loader on the same file.

I have this code that makes a menu with two buttons appear following the mouse when the mouse rolls over a movieClip:

The problem is that the buttons are children of imgOptions, and when the mouse is over these two buttons, the movie reacts like the mouse is not over the imgOptions movieclip.
I decided to rearange my flash site and now things don't work.I used to have an image collage where all the images were buttons and each image was located on the stage ( which made a stage with 10+ loose images)I made each image a button. Are there any other swf to HTML converters, I know there is Wallaby and Swiffy from Google, but does anyone know any others, that support ActionScript. I want to convert a swf file to HTML, but the swf has some ActionScript (AS3) code inside it that is used to populate the swf. I want to be able to convert this into HTML and use JavaScript to populate the HTML version.

i'm using "iloveitaly"s easing scrollbar class, and it works great. however, i added an effect that i want on my scrollbar, and it doesnt work quite how it should. what should happen is when u press the dragger, it should duplicate itself and then fade out, giving it kinda a "mouse trail" type effect i guess you can call it. anyway, here is the code for the part in the class that doesnt work:

All layers and consequently all route movieClips that relate to the map as well as the stop codes for the individual route animations now reside within that MovieClip which sits on a new layer above the map key layer. However, the key buttons no longer run the route animations. What should be done so that when clicked they still play the route MovieClips. Its like the button code cant see the layers it once refered to, now that they are in a movieclip.

This following Audio-code is on a movieclip within a (Base)movieclip. It stops playing/looping when a button is pressed that gotoAndStops on another frame within the same (Base)movieclip. But when a button is pressed outside the movieclip and (Base)movieclip, which gotoAndStops on another movieclip on the timeline, it continues playing.

i have this javascript tracking-code I need to place in our flash-banner in order for our third-party tracking company to track clicks and that sort of stuff, but I'm not sure how I need to place it in our flash-banner. I thought I coudl simply place this javascript into a top layer or the like, but seems I cannot directly include it like that inside Flash. Then I thought perhhaps I could simply save the javascript file as .js file and call it from within the Flash file, but not sure how to go about it...

I'm creating a menu bar that is a movieclip and inside the movieclip consists of the buttons.Now the menu bar is twice as WIDE as what is visible on the stage.The only part you can see is the text 'menu' on a bar.Then when the mouse hits the bar, it flies across the screen to the otherside of the bar where the menu buttons are.Now the menu bar does its animation over 20 frames - the last frame being the frame where the menu buttons are now visible.
