Frame Stopping One From Too Late?

Dec 28, 2009

I have a simple flash movie that contains multiple frames which make up the sections of a simple site. I have built the navigation so that when you click a button, the movie advances to the proper frame/section. So far so good.My problem is that when I get to the FAQ section of the site, the movie clip that makes up the faq answers plays to the second frame, not the first. The first frame of the movie clip has a stop action in the actionscript, as does the second. But no matter what I do, any time it loads, it quickly plays to Frame 2. I do have buttons that play different frames of this movie clip, but they are attached to mouse over events and nothing else.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Preloader Not Appearing Until Late?

I have a Flash game which holds all of its content in a single keyframe on the stage. I have one keyframe before this which contains the preloader using the following script:[Code].The preloader seems to be coded correctly. The problem is that when I upload the file to the web there is a long delay before even the preloader appears. It eventually does appear at about 90%. It continues to load up to 100% then the game starts as required.I obviously want the preloader to start playing from 1%, its like the swf is trying to load all of the graphic before the preloader loads. I have multiple classes.

Flash :: Deal With Late OnMetaData In IE?

Apr 7, 2010

I am trying to dynamically resize an flv playing back in a flash player. To do this, I need to get the flv's width/height so I can maintain the original aspect ratio. I have noticed that in Firefox the onMetaData event will be hit right away, and the video will resize properly. In IE however, onMetaData is not hit until the buffer is full and video starts playing.

One solution I have thought of is to set the initial buffer to something close to 0 (e.g. 0.01). Then the buffer will instantly hit full, and the video will be resized. The issue I have with this is low bandwidth users will have a a short 'sputter' of video (0.5 seconds say) at the beginning before it goes to the next, larger, buffer. Is there any better way to deal with this behavior in IE? Can you manually "get" the metaData from an FLV file before it even plays?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Stopping Video On Frame Exit?

Mar 8, 2009

I'm using Flash CS4, and all the actionscript so far has been Actionscript 3. I have some videos in my project -- this is being exported as an exe for cd distribution, rather than a website thing. So each video is wrapped inside a movie clip, which is wrapped inside another movie clip that deals with playing/pausing it, which is wrapped inside another movie clip that gives scrollbox functionality, which is placed on the stage. On the main timeline is a keyframe every frame, each of which has a stop() action, so that each frame is essentially a different "page" and you can navigate between these with menu buttons which call gotoAndStop().

The problem is, if the video is playing when you click a button to navigate to another frame, it continues playing even though it's no longer on the screen. You can hear the audio in the background. In addition to this, if you navigate to a frame four frames ahead, and each of the frames in between has a video, all those videos will start playing in the background as well.

I want to make sure that when you are on a particular frame the only video which will play is the video on that frame. If there is no video on that frame, no video should play. I was hoping that I could just catch the moment when you move away from the frame and call stop() on the video there, but I can't seem to catch that point. The FRAME_EXIT event seems to catch the end of the render loop or something so that it happens every time it draws the frame, rather than when you actually leave the frame and move to another one. In addition, I'm not sure catching the point where you move past a frame would help the problem with videos from in-between frames being started, as those frames are never entered so presumably never exited either.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Stopping Videos When Leaving Frame?

Nov 24, 2009

I have created an instance of FLCPlayback named "chili_player" which, depending on which button is clicked will play a certain video. This all works great.

my videos are located within videos_mc and in frame 80 of my site. I have other movie_clips and frames set up for other pages.

I have tried the normal method of placing the following code on every other frame the user can view.

videos_mc.chili_player.stop();

but it does not work and I get the following error message.

Flash :: Youtube Embedded Video Activating Too Late To Accept Javascript Call

Oct 27, 2010

I have a YouTube video embedded in my page. It is hidden (display:none). You need to click one of the video link buttons to display the video and play it. The links are defined like this:

<a href="javascript:play('xxxxxxxxxxx')">Video 1</a>
<a href="javascript:play('xxxxxxxxxxx')">Video 2</a>
xxxxxxxxx represent YouTube video IDs.

[Code]....

It's fundamentally pretty simple! But here's the problem. since the video player is hidden, the flash object is not activated. So when I click a video link, the line ytplayer.style.display = 'block'; displays the video player, but it takes about about half a second for flash to load. During this time it cannot accept any method calls, such as the next line ytplayer.loadVideoById( id, 0, 'hd1080' );. Essentially, I have to click the link twice, once to load up the flash video player, the second time to actually load the video into the player.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Make Movie Play Frame X To Frame Y Then Switch To Frame Z?

I have my flash on multiple scenes, and would like to play an animation when clicking on the navigation button before switching to a different scene.

I'm halfway to accomplishing this.

Here is what i used

Code:
_root.gotoAndPlay("changepage1");
_root.onEnterFrame=function(){
if(this._currentframe=="changepage2"){

The above code is on a blank keyframe. Changepage1 is the start of the animation and Changepage2 is the end of the animation.

Upon clicking the navigation button it plays the above scenes.

However it doesn't change scenes to scene "Home2".

ActionScript 1/2 :: Set Frames To Play Frame 1, Frame 3, Frame 5

Mar 13, 2011

I hope I can ask this correctly. I'll paraphrase.

press_mc.onRelease = function(){
mover2_mc.play()};

This is a snippet of some code I'm working on. Currently I have a mc that you press that plays another mc. That mc that reacts has 5 frames, each frame with stop(); on each frame. I do a normal play code because it lets me play through and cycle back to frame 1 after frame 5 (so if I click the mc it eventually cycles back to the first frame and starts the process over again). If I do a nextframe it stops at frame 5, so that's why I use play.

press_mc click on it and it tells mover2_mc to advance a frame and recycles back to frame one to redo the process.Can I tell press_mc to play and skip a frame or to have it play a list of frames that I tell? I can't do a _currentframe +2 because it'll halt at frame 5.

Flash8 :: Stopping The Map At Impact

May 10, 2009

Basicly its simply a world map with a character in the middle. You move around with the arrow keyes (in reality you move the map around and the character stays in the middle) and at certain impact you walk into houses etc etc. To accomplish this i have a movie clip in the middle named "man" and a map movie clip beneath it with the following code:

[Code]...

So far so good and no problems. This is what i need help with: I can't seem to get the "main" map to stop moving at certain points when it impacts the "man". In essence there are lakes and mountains that the character cannot cross when when he hits these i want the speed X to be 0 so to say. Im uploading my example here. It's when the movieclip in the root named "man" hits the purple line in the map movieclip its speed should go 0. Ive tried around with hittests (the code is still in the code) but i can't get it to work.

Sound Not Stopping During Testing?

May 23, 2009

I'm using Adobe Flash CS4 on Mac (windows i'm sure i can figure out how to fix it on the mac version)I'm trying to sync some animation to sound, and my sound is all in one big file. I'm wanting to go through frame by frame and tweak it (Yes, it's a frame by frame animation, no tweening here don't ask why, it's just not), anyways, I keep trying to use the "Control -> Play" button to keep playing the sound from the area I'm working on so I don't have to start at the beginning everytime. After I hear the section I want, I want to just push "stop" and everything stop, including the audio. It would stop everything before, but now it's not stopping the audio so it will just keep playing even though I had hit stop.?
