View 2 RepliesI thought I had a nice way to do this, but it's not always accurate for some reason. I was using (where myNumber is a number):
evenOrOdd = myNumber % 4; // 4 or any number
if (evenOrOdd == 0) {
// Number is even
}
Is there a way to detect when the user accepts the Privacy Pop-up?
Basically, I'm using the microphone to record a voice message. I'd like to start a countdown timer that tells the user how much time they have to record their voice.
I start the countdown timer on the same event that I call nsPublish.attachAudio(microphone), and the countdown starts immediately, even though the user sees the privacy pop-up.
Much to my chagrin, my FLVPlayback video enters the 'pause' state rather than 'buffered' when the bandwidth forces the player to pause. Unfortunately, that's the same state as when a user presses the skin's pause button. Therefore, I can't detect whether the video is paused based on a user action versus a lack of downloaded video data.
That is, I can trigger an event based on either occurance, but I can't tell which caused the video to enter the paused state.
It sounds like others have had this problem as I've caught a couple discussions outside these forums describing how to code around this problem and, well, the descriptions are too sparce for me to code myself.
How can I tell when a user has been idle for say 5 minutes on my Flex app? When I say "idle" I mean the user has not interacted with the application at all.
View 5 RepliesI am having a problem with correctly detecting a user's camera settings.
If the user has selected "allow" and "remember", then the camera.muted setting is false (not muted)
However, if the user has selected "deny" and "remember", then the camera.muted setting is true. (camera has been muted by the user)
BUT, if the user hasn't selected anything and the "remember" checkbox is unchecked, the camera.muted setting is ALSO TRUE (the camera is again muted, but it's only because someone hasn't "allowed" the camera yet)
Is there a way to differentiate between when a user has chosen to deny a camera forever for a particular site (by checking the "remember" check box) OR when they just haven't allowed the camera in the first place?
Is it possible, using Flash, to detect whether or not a user is using Cable, DSL, 56k, etc.?
View 1 RepliesI'm working on a project for a client, they want a simple drawing api which requests the user to draw a circle, or a shape on screen. The circle is then analyzed and a Score/Percentage of correction is returned. The drawing I have covered, how to assess the drawn circle against a perfect circle?
My first idea was to put invisible trigger points around the circumference of the shape and check for hit tests when the user is drawing. Another would be to track the dimensions of the left, right, top and bottom most bounding box and then find the radius, or something to that effect.
I am building a stand alone flash file which needs to detect whether the user has an internet connection on the release of a button.
View 3 RepliesI've got a few input text fields and a submit button on an order form I've designed. Trouble is you can only order in multiples of 2. Naturally I have a warning stating that orders must be multiples of that number but there is always room for idiocy! Lets say my order input text box is called "order" and the button used to proceed to payment is called "submit". How do I detect an ODD number entry and have it run an mc called "warning"?
View 4 Repliesim trying to write a handfull of XML functions in AS2.0 and im trying to find a way of getting flash to detect the number of attributes in a childNode. <item name="aaron" location="sydney" sex="male"/> as in finding out how many of these ^ there are in each item.
how I would do this? I've tried for...in... statements and even trying to access them as objects i.e. ...ode[0].attributes["name"] but it never works - I always have to hard code...ode[0].attributes.name to get the value. im sure theres a way to do this, there has to be a way.
i want to center some dynamic numbers in a circle... but of course it won't align properly when there a more digits. So i need to know how many digits there are in order to offset the numbers to center.

View 1 RepliesJust curious to know if its possible. I have a nav that is in flash and will be in many .asp pages. Could a corresponding button in the nav stay highlighted to represent where a user is by detecting what page it is on?
View 5 RepliesI am trying to have a local shared object in flash to detect whether a user is a new user or a returning user. If they are a new user I want to do newUser function and if they are a previous user I want to do a previousUser function. This should all be happening on an onEnterFrame.
Here is my code I have so far:
//shared object - cookie
newUser_test = SharedObject.getLocal("newUser");
newUser.text = newUser_test.data.title = "new user";
newUser.text.onEnterFrame = function () {
newUser.text = "new user";
} newUser.text.onEnterFrame = function(){
newUser.text = newUser_test.data.title = "previous user";
newUser_test.flush();
}
I'm working on a delivery costing system for my company using postcode input from users
For you non Brits out there UK postcodes work on two blocks of 2-4 characters each.
L2 2HH - Liverpool central
M24 2TN - suburb of Manchester
IV56 7NQ - outter Inverness
You get the idea. So the first part of a UK postcode, wether it be 2 characters or 4 characters MUST have atleast one numeric and one non-numeric character in it. How do I detect this?
At the moment I've just got my CHECK POSTCODE button to run a few functions only if my POSTCODE (input text) field length it greater or equal to 2 characters. So how do I easily detect an input of numeric and non-numerical characters without having to resort to indexOf ...a...b...c...1...2...3...?
In my flex app I have custom tooltips on buttons that hide and show based on user context. The problem that I dealing with is that when I call my showTips() function I only want to show tooltips on the buttons that visible in the view. So buttons that on a un-selected tab (tabNavigator) should not show the tooltips. For some reason all tooltips are showing. Is there a way to detect if a button is not in current view, like on a un-selected tab?
View 2 RepliesAt the end of the movie I would like to check if the user is still connected to the Internet (they maybe on an unstable dial-up connection and lost connection). Is there anyway to do that? I mean, is there a way to check if a user is connected to the Internet using ActionScript?
View 4 RepliesTrying to detect a browser close event and send some data to the database when the user closes the browser window...but can't seem to get it to work.[code]
View 6 RepliesI have a quiz that, on completion, I need the user to be able to enter their name and user id (already generated externally) which is then passed to either a database or an email is sent to a pre-determined address to log that they have completed the quiz.
I'm guessing that when the above has been done, the playhead could move to a frame that gives them a confirmation and closing message. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to how to achieve this?
The code that I have is meant to validate that the user doesnt enter the same number more then once (e.g. 12,2,3,4,5,12), and that they dont enter numbers out of the range 1 to 49 (e.g. 12,4,32,34,66,17). What code do I need to add do that they HAVE TO enter 6 numbers? So they cannot just enter say one number and press the 'submitButton' and it will work. Also with my code as soon as the 'submitButton' is pressed it just goes to frame 12, without doing the validation.
ActionScript Code:
submitButton.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, numbersChosen);
function numbersChosen(e:MouseEvent):void {
var index:int = -1;
var num:int=0;
var numbersChosen:Array = new Array ();
[Code] .....
i have input text box i want user can enter only number between 0 to 255. if tries to enter greater number thar 255 then it show previous one e.g user entert 64 and then 6, in that case only 64 shown in text box .
View 4 RepliesI am rather new to actionscript and having some trouble. My goal is to make a app where the user enters a decimal number and the number of decimal places and the output is displayed in a dynamic text box. Here's what I have so far:
ActionScript Code:
go_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,Display);
function round(num:Number, dp:int):Number {
var decimal:Number = Math.pow(10, dp);
trace(Math.round(decimals * num) / decimal)
[Code]...
I have a message and its visible property is false how can i make it so it becomes true when the user types anything but a number. So there input textfield and a send button if the user types hello when they click send i want the message to become true. How would you do it? restrict?
View 2 RepliesI am having a hard time finding a basic math tutorial. I am new to AS3 and just need to figure out how to multiply what a user enters by a certain number when a button is pressed.
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to do a check to see if the user inputed a number into an input text field. I'm also running a check to see if the user has left the input blank (which works just fine), but I can seem to get the NaN function working.
(using actionscript 2.0 w/ flash CS3)
Quote:
this.btn_step1next.onRelease = function() {
if ( zipcode.text == "" || zipcode.text == isNaN() ) {
message.text = "Please enter your ZIP code to continue.";
} else {
[Code]....
Does anyone know of a way to restrict a user from entering a number over 100 into a textinput field in flex? i.e. a user can enter any number between and including 0-100 but not 101
