View 10 RepliesThis was harder than I thought (or could it be my lack of knowledge in AS ) Anyhow, problem: I want my cursor to swap with a costum cursor, go to an defined x and y position from its original position (maby wait a sec.. if possible) an then go back to where ever my original cursor position may be. Did I get that right haha. A sample is in the begining of this [URL] I posted a fla with cursor and position. (screaming from th bottom of a swedih well, and they're deep)

i know there is no function for it, but how could i do this?

View 4 RepliesI have a Flash movie that uses three scenes. In scene one I have a button with some actionscript to take it to a frame label in that first scene and play the movie from that point on. It works fine. The problem is, in the third scene, I am trying the same action with a different button, going to a different frame label in that third scene. I am getting an error saying the frame label does not exist in that scene. Even though it does! I've checked for typos and everything looks fine. I've copied and pasted the simple actionscript from the third scene below. Is there a line I need to add to make this work in a scene that is not the first scene?
rocketstart_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, rocketbutton);
function rocketbutton(event:MouseEvent):void {
gotoAndPlay("rocket");
}
I'm having a memory lasp. I trying to write for each button to goto and play at a label. what the correct code for that is please.ActionScript 3.
View 4 RepliesI've bought a very simple AS3 preloader but the default code requests an external swf thru a loader event.What I would like to achieve is when the content is loaded it goes to a frame/label on my stage.[code]
View 1 RepliesHow its done?
on (release, keyPress "<Enter>") {
if (password eq "caleb") {
tellTarget ("_root") {
gotoAndStop("private");
}} else {
tellTarget ("_root") {
gotoAndStop("error");
}}
It contains syntax error.
Here's my AS, just get this error
ActionScript Code:
**Error** Symbol=movieclip, layer=Layer 1, frame=1:Line 3: Statement must appear within on handler
movieclip.gotoAndStop ("framelabel",random(4)+2); **Error** Symbol=movieclip2, layer=Layer 2, frame=1:Line 3: Statement must appear within on handler
movieclip2.gotoAndStop ("framelabel"random(10)+2);
. The AS is on said button within the MC, and the MC has an instance name.This is the AS I'm using. I'm trying to make a randomize button that generates a random frame in my flash file instead of one MC..
ActionScript Code:
on (release) {
movieclip.gotoAndStop ("framelabel"random(4)+2);
movieclip2.gotoAndStop ("framelabel"random(10)+2);
}
I have a button that is loaded into my main movie at level 2. in my main movie on the timeline I have a frame label called guestbook. I want my button, when released to go to trigger the frame label. on my button i have the script:
on (release) {
_root.gotoAndStop("guestbook");
}
Obvously this does not work because it references the wrong timeline so i tried:
on (release) {
_parent.gotoAndStop("guestbook");
}
thinking that somehow it would see the parent swf and work - haha - me and my dumb ideas of course it doesnt work.do you know how i can get it to work. Perhaps i should mention that the button that loads in at level 2 is inside a movie clip (for reasons of animation)
I have a label component in a mxml file like below
<mx:Label x="700" y="409" text="Label" id="lble" width="131" height="41"/>
if i want to access it and change its text content within a method defined in action script class that i have written, how to do it?
lble.text="test";
I have an intropage with two mc buttons that resides in another mc. They are for an English and a Dutch part. So when I click on either one of them, they go to the "Home" label (frame 2). But now at the same time when the main timeline goes to "Home" I want the movieclip container that contains 6 buttons (The English or Dutch ones) to be visible false or true when I click on one or the other. As a part of the code will show some of you there must be an 1119 error that I can't figure out. It has to do with the FrameLabel that is supposedly undifined. [code]If i remove the if statement and just put the visible statement that also gives an error.But maybe the conflict could be that btnTxtFrameN_mc nor btnTxtFrameE_mc exist on the first frame where I wrote the code and only appear as from label "Home" (second frame)
View 9 RepliesI am using flex builder 3.2, Action Script 3 and develop for Flash Player 10 and am quite new to it. when I call a method of a self defined class, I get the 1061 error (not defined). But the class and the method exist and are public, so what the hell am I doing wrong? Flash Builder is even offering me this method in the auto-completion, so at least the builder knows it... I have already tried cleaning the project (as this is the common source of strange errors when working with java/eclipse),
edit: solved... The problem was that a package had the same name as the variable I used for the class. Very strange error message, thumbs down for this .
Is it possible to change a frame label within a gotoAndStop('label') with the parameters in a function?I'm playing around with updating code as I learn more and more techniques, and at the moment the code is a basic click-a-button to select the object shape, and on press the button disappears:
// Change the object into a circle.
circle_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,function(){changeShape_fun(circle_btn,circle);});
// Change the object into a square.
square_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,function(){changeShape_fun(square_btn,square);});
[code]....
However I can't/don't seem to know how to change a frame label through function parameters, or if what I'm trying to do is even possible.Also to note, while I'm all ears for any more efficient ways of doing what I'm trying to do, I would still like to know how/if you can change frame labels through function parmeters.
It is called Play_button. This time I ran it and got a different error, (Access of undefined property Play_button)but is still in the same direction as the first one.
View 1 RepliesI know this may be a basic question, however.how to encode a Flash Video (possibly with Flash Video Encoder using Cue Points?) and when the video ends, direct the user to a specific url. In other words when the video is over the browser automatically refreshes to a specifc page.
is there a tutorial for somtehing like this?
Are there any code examples?
Can I use Flash video encoder and cue points, Or should I use Flash WITH video?
I have an flv video playing from a FLV Playback component. I am trying to have the movie goto the next scene at the end of the FLV video. I have go through numerous tutorials online to get the action to do this, but to no avail. I have tried both addeventlisteners and NS. way to have the movie advance to the next scene after the flv and where the AS has to be to get the movie to function properly.
View 5 RepliesI have seen a few posts regarding: ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable is not defined, but none solving this issue.I have just upgraded to CS4 from CS3. I compiled and run the projects built in CS3 and get this error on loads of MovieClip classes available in the Library.ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable Movieclip_mc is not defined.Sounds like there is a difference in the compilers that is kicking this error up. I have tried creating a new central .fla document in CS4 and stil no good.
View 4 RepliesI'm building an AIR application with Flash Builder 4. in the application descriptor I set the minimum AIR version to 3.0 I'm building against Flex SDK 4.5.1 which I overlayed with the AIR 3.0 SDK
I have this line of code in my app:
var nativeWinOpt:NativeWindowInitOptions = new NativeWindowInitOptions();
nativeWinOpt.renderMode = NativeWindowRenderMode.GPU;
this compiles fine, but when I run it in ADL, I get:
ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable flash.display::NativeWindowRenderMode is not defined.
NativeWindowRenderMode should be available in AIR 3.0?
I am trying to modify a menu system that I like that I found on the web I thought this would be easy enough to modify and make each named menu item a hyperlink.The menu items are dynamically created depending on the number of items in an array. I thought I could create another array and add an eventListener to each menu item created with a hyperlink from the second array:
ActionScript Code:
public var menuLinks:Array = ["/about", "/portfolio", "/photos", "/blog", "/contact", "/guest_book"];
[code]....
I'm displaying a variable into a textbox, but sometimes it's value is unset (loading delay) I'm using loadVariables so the .onLoad won't work.. How can I check if a variable already has a value?

I have "inherited" some projects. One question I have is about a project that directs a user to a particular HTML page when a button is clicked. I have searched through the Actions and Behaviors and I can find no reference to the page it currently calls so I don't know how to change the page activated.

View 2 RepliesI'm sitting here doing some C# programing and in one of my switch statements I ended up using the goto keyword. Well just out of curiosity I booted up FDT and created another switch statement in ActionScript 3. Well to my surprise there is apparently no goto keyword in AS3 or at least I couldn't find a substitution.
View 6 Repliesi have 3 scenes: loading, menu and animation.when i'm playing the animation scene, i have a slider.
