View 3 RepliesJust finally making the transition from AS2 to AS3.All i need to do at this point is make two buttons which will control the movie to goto next frame and previous frame. I have gotten how to make the buttons go to a specified frame number and also a button to go to a specified external url but no success in making a simple next/previous pair of buttons.

This seems pretty basic but for some reason I absolutely can't get it to work. I have a set of buttons which I want to be able to send their parent movie to the next or previous frame. I want to use a NEXT and PREVIOUS button, both combined within a single movieclip, to tell a parent file to go to next and previous frame.
This doesn't work:
previous_btn.onRelease = function(){
this._parent.prevFrame;
} next_btn.onRelease = function(){

I'm using a simple piece of code on a button...

}
... to go to previous frame but for some reason it causes the main movie clip to flicker. Is this a known problem or am I doing something wrong?
anyway to write a piece of code telling a movie to goto a random frame label?
View 4 RepliesI have a Flash movie that uses three scenes. In scene one I have a button with some actionscript to take it to a frame label in that first scene and play the movie from that point on. It works fine. The problem is, in the third scene, I am trying the same action with a different button, going to a different frame label in that third scene. I am getting an error saying the frame label does not exist in that scene. Even though it does! I've checked for typos and everything looks fine. I've copied and pasted the simple actionscript from the third scene below. Is there a line I need to add to make this work in a scene that is not the first scene?

I am trying to create a function that does something depending on what frame label it was coming from.
I have a home, about and contact page.
I want the home and contact page to check if the previous frame label was "about"
something like this:

I have a button that is loaded into my main movie at level 2. in my main movie on the timeline I have a frame label called guestbook. I want my button, when released to go to trigger the frame label. on my button i have the script:

Obvously this does not work because it references the wrong timeline so i tried:

_parent.gotoAndStop("guestbook");
}
thinking that somehow it would see the parent swf and work - haha - me and my dumb ideas of course it doesnt work.do you know how i can get it to work. Perhaps i should mention that the button that loads in at level 2 is inside a movie clip (for reasons of animation)
i have a couple buttons that i want to move the timeline to previous or next Frame Label. i have tried one way that didn't work and i see there is an array that i could use for Frame Labels but i don't know how to work with it to get what i want.here is the class that i made, it currently has the initial try which dind't work and just the basic array set up:[code]btw, the traced array returns (and in the final version, no frame labels will be right next to each other on frames):[code]

My menu bar has the following: (About Us) (Services) (Quality) (Projects) (Contact Us) Each page will have a motion shape tween and slide the page down. I have type in this actions :

This actions only works when I click to the next labels but doesn't work when I want to click back to the previous labels. For example, if I click onto (About Us) to (Services) and (Services) to (Quality) and (Quality) to Projects and (Projects) to (Contact Us)... it all works. If I then click from (Contact Us) back to (Projects) or even any previous buttons.

Sorry Im a noob so Im trying to understand all this code. I tried making the +1's negative but that didn't seem to work.

Is it possible to change a frame label within a gotoAndStop('label') with the parameters in a function?I'm playing around with updating code as I learn more and more techniques, and at the moment the code is a basic click-a-button to select the object shape, and on press the button disappears:

However I can't/don't seem to know how to change a frame label through function parameters, or if what I'm trying to do is even possible.Also to note, while I'm all ears for any more efficient ways of doing what I'm trying to do, I would still like to know how/if you can change frame labels through function parmeters.
I have an intropage with two mc buttons that resides in another mc. They are for an English and a Dutch part. So when I click on either one of them, they go to the "Home" label (frame 2). But now at the same time when the main timeline goes to "Home" I want the movieclip container that contains 6 buttons (The English or Dutch ones) to be visible false or true when I click on one or the other. As a part of the code will show some of you there must be an 1119 error that I can't figure out. It has to do with the FrameLabel that is supposedly undifined. [code]If i remove the if statement and just put the visible statement that also gives an error.But maybe the conflict could be that btnTxtFrameN_mc nor btnTxtFrameE_mc exist on the first frame where I wrote the code and only appear as from label "Home" (second frame)

1. Well, the preload code for frame 1 that makes sure the external F4V (movie.f4v in the same dir) is loaded 100% before it jumps to frame 2 where the movie should start playing...
