ActionScript 2.0 :: Line Becomes Alpha From Very Beginning Of Movie
Oct 22, 2002
I have one line that is going down 500 pixels with the instance called 'vertical'. I also have a line set next to it with aplha = 0. When the vertical line going down reaches 300 pixels, I want the line which is set to 0 to set the alpha = 100. The code I am trying does not work.. Here is what I am putting in
onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
if (vertical._height = 300) {
this._alpha = 100}
}
Seems simple enough, but the line becomes 100% alpha from the very beginning of the movie. Do I have to do anything with _root or what?
Is it possible to load a text file using line breaks as a delimeter rather than having a &var= at the beginning of each line? Like by a for instance? I have a text file with about 1000 lines that I need to load/display.
I have a bunch of thumbnails i'm getting from XML that have this code on them...
Code: for (e = 0; e < total; e++) { _root.web_thumbs.thumb_button.duplicateMovieClip("button" + e, e + 12); _root.web_thumbs["button" + e].c = e;[code].....]);
It loads the XML variable fullimg into an empty movie clip on its own layer in the timeline.The movieclip, "container", is assigned this code, but the code isn't on the movieclip, it's on a frame designated for just actionscript.This is the code
The Problem Is...When there is no image loaded into the movie clip, it works fine, and shifts around depending on the location of the other movie clip, "content". But, once there is an image loaded into "container", it stops shifting around depending on the location of "content", and just sits in its last location.The only thing i can IMAGINE being problematic is, on another frame, where I have the XML being cut up and assigned to variables, at the end I have a remove _root.onEnterFrame, removing the onEnterFrame at the beginning of the XML to variables line of code, so that is stops running.
I've been searching high and low for a tutorial for your Flash movie that will show you how to make the movie ask for the users name at the begining and then it'll disply the name later on in the movie.
Actionscript 2.0I have a play and stop button in a movie clip. The actual button works great but does not pause the movie and then resume playback where it left off. Instead the movie goes back to the very beginning and stop/starts there. I need the button to resume playback where the movie was stoppedlike a pause and resume button. The videos load exernally through an FLVPlayback component (myVideo).The code is on the main time line in Actions layer.Here's the code for the button:
I have a motion tween that is 180 frames in length. When the tween ends on the last frame and returns to the first frame to replay there is a slight jump in the tween. Is there anyway to stop the tween from jumping from last frame to the first?
I have a flash CS project. I have one stage and some frames. How can I start all project from beginning using AS3? Or start all stage's content from beginning?
I am working on a tabular file that when you click on one of the tabs (there is 7) you view the content of that layer.
The code I am using works fine:
on (release) { land._visible = true; Tab1._visible = false;
[Code]....
but when you view the "land" layer, go back to another tab and go back to the "land" layer it doesn't reload and start at frame 1 but the last frame you were at.
I desperately need it to "reload" when you release on the action above and to GoToAndPlay frame 1 but whatever code I try it won't do it.
I created a movie clip which plays ok. But when it ends there is a slight jump, if you will, when it goes back to frame 1 to begin playing again. Does anyone know how to make the transition unnoticeable from the last frame of a movie clip to the first frame of a movie clip?
Is there an SWF player with a slider control, play and Stop, total play time; so you can jump to different sections in an SWF movie without having to watch it from beginning to end?
I'm working on a Flash movie that includes a simple on/off audio player. At the end of the movie it loops back to the beginning and plays again. if the viewer hits the sound off button it will turn the sound off untill the movie loops and then the audio automatically starts again. The viewer would then have to hit play again and then stop to stop it. Is it possible to fix this? I think that I ned to put a piece of code at the beginning of the movie to check if the sound is off or not and then to continue to keep it off if needed?Here is the code for the sound player I am using...
var mySound:Sound = new Sound(); var myChannel:SoundChannel = new SoundChannel(); var lastPosition:Number = 0; mySound.load(new URLRequest("GlidingOnAir.mp3"));
The graphics object I am using has it's alpha value set to 0.1.
When these points are plotted iteratively, and the line being drawn overlaps another line drawn earlier, there is no visible change in the colour at the intersection.
If I draw the line differently, not using an array of points, the alpha is not ignored.
ActionScript Code: public function render(e:Event):void { if (segmentsCollection.length > 0)
[Code].....
This all occurs on each ENTER_FRAME event until the array is emptied.
I have tried loads of options but the alpha is always ignored.
I want to reduce the alpha of a movie clip when mouse is rollOver the movie , the alpha will be continuously reducing over frames, i dont want to use tween.
[Code]...
i this code when i rollOver the mouse on a movie clip, it shows the alpha reducing over time , and at roll out alpha increases over time. but if i rollOver and rollOut in fractions of seconds , it flickers (like 60-100 instead of from the current alpha lvl), So i am looking for some code that can help me in fixing this problem.
I have a box (type movieclip) on the stage, its named box_mc.It starts on the left and moves to the right via a timeline tween.I want the box_mc to have an alpha of 0 at the start and an alpha of 100 at the end. The alpha of 100 will (ultimately) be assigned via LoadVar.So, basically I need to set the alpha variable of the stage item before the movie starts playing via Loadvars.
The thing should work like this: theres a movie clip in frame 10 of the timeline with two buttons inside, by clicking one of them the movie should jump to frame 15 and take the alpha of two Mc there (they are inside a different movie clip) to 0. This is what ie been trying (code on the button, btw):
on (release) { McScene2.lettuce._alpha = 0; McScene2.pumpkin._alpha = 0;
I'm having trouble getting my movieclips to have trails that fade behind it. I'm having the dupilcate movieclips delete themselves once their alpha reaches a certain point. what's wrong with my code? I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the counters. You can view my fla here: [URL]

I know how to change the alpha of one movie clip at a time on rollover, rollout, and release. But I'm a bit stuck trying to figure out how I would change the alpha of multiple movie clips, when one is clicked. It's for a simple photo gallery and I want all the thumbnails to darken once one has been clicked & the image is loading. I can't just fake it by having a somewhat transparent black movie clip appear over everything, because I need the alpha of each thumbnail to be able to change again once people roll over a new thumbnail.(a section of my code is included for reference but there are like 30 thumbnails so I didn't include it all, the code is the same for everything)
I'm new to action script and was wondering how to change the alpha of a movieclip from 0 to 100% gradually or instantly when the mouse is moved ( like the navigation bar on a media player) when the mouse is still i want the alpha to be at 0, i am totally new to actionscript but am familiar with code syntax.
would like to know the AS code for getting a movieclip object to move to a specific x,y position on stage and change its alpha at the same time... would be nice if the movement was done with a nice tweening also.
When a movie clip is clicked on, another movie clip will fade out.The problem is that the clip that needs to fade out just disapears in a second, is there a way to controll the speed.I read a lot of info about this for complicated setups, is there a simple fix for this.I was hoping I could just do this designR_mc._alpha = 0/4;But that does not work.HERE IS THE CODE
I have created a website on the time line. There is actionscipt contolling which frame to play via a button. Within this button is a movieclip with a fade in using alpha on its own timeline with a stop(); at the end.The problem is I only want it to play when you first see it from moving to that page from the main timeline. Currently if i move over the button it plays the movie again which i dont want to happen. I do however want to retain the over states etc for the button.
How can i change movie clips apha property slowly one by one in for each loop? I can't undestand what's wrong((( From XML data i create for each loop, where my MC creates. But i can't chang their alpha property slowly. When i'm trying
Code: mc.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, alphaShow) function alphaShow(e:Event):void{ e.target.alpha += mcAlphaPlus;
