ActionScript 2.0 :: Movie Rewind Function In Label?
Aug 16, 2007
I have a button on my timeline when you mouse hover over the button there is an effect ( bg changes blah blah), on mouse over a 3d cube (exported from swift) will rotate which is in the above move clip, the action script is poiting to it via the label see below:
Is it possible to change a frame label within a gotoAndStop('label') with the parameters in a function?I'm playing around with updating code as I learn more and more techniques, and at the moment the code is a basic click-a-button to select the object shape, and on press the button disappears:
// Change the object into a circle. circle_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,function(){changeShape_fun(circle_btn,circle);}); // Change the object into a square. square_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,function(){changeShape_fun(square_btn,square);});
[code]....
However I can't/don't seem to know how to change a frame label through function parameters, or if what I'm trying to do is even possible.Also to note, while I'm all ears for any more efficient ways of doing what I'm trying to do, I would still like to know how/if you can change frame labels through function parmeters.
I'm attempting to make a rewind function, but have no idea where to start.
I have a movie that spans over 60 frames and rotates. I would like the user to be able to click a button and make the movie rewind and tween to go to that frame.
For example, if the movie is on frame 55 and the user clicks a button, I want to movie to tween backwards (frame 54, frame 53, frame 52, etc etc) until it gets to frame 45.
I have a movieclip that is basically a scroll through of several pages. Every ten frames is another page. I have a next button and a previous button. The next button plays the movie for ten seconds and I would like for the previous button to rewind the clip for ten seconds.This is what I have right now:
previous_r1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,prev iousr1); function previousr1(event:MouseEvent):void { movieclip1.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME,rewi nd);
I need to know how to make two buttons: Back and Forward for move forward 24 frames or backwards 24 frames. Also I need to make a Rewind button, how I do that?
heres my code basically i want it so if i stay rolloed over it keeps reversing, in stead of having to roll off and on, obviously only does one frame at a time.
So i'm trying to rewind a movie clip using AS3. I've tried using an ENTER_FRAME event and, in the function, using gotoAndStop(mymovie.currentFrame - 1) to decrement the frame until it reaches #1, however it seems to play very slowly and choppy, not like when I just use play();
I made a vertical list of thumbnails and converted them into a movie clip. There is a total of 20 thumbnails. I masked the movie clips so that it only shows 5 thumbnails at a time. I created keyframes at every point in the clip that 5 thumbnails are shown so that I can pause it.I was trying to use this code to scroll down from the first set of 5 to the second:
on (release) { design_thumbnails.gotoAndPlay (20) }
When I click the button nothing happens I'd also like to know how to rewind the movie so that when I press the up arrow it goes up to the previous set of 5.

I would like to use the rewind command inside a movie clip, with buttons or movie clips inside on the timeline with motion tween. this is reasonably straight forward.
But when i test the movie the buttons are not selectable as it is covered by the movieclip they are in.
How can i get these buttons to work within the movie clip. here is the code that goes on the first line of the actions layer. ( can be found in the kirupa tutorials).
[Code]...
This would look really good if i could make the buttons clickable/live and just linked to a url.
I would like to create an image sliding effect using next and previous buttons. For example the sliding images on the homepage here: http:[url]....I know this is not in flash, but that's the effect I'm trying to create using flash.
I followed the help quoted below. However, when I press the Previous button to rewind the timeline, the movie clip does not stop. For example, if I am on image 3 in the slider and press the previous button...instead of going to image 2, it slides all the way back to image 1 without stopping.
Quote: ActionScript 2:Notice how, in the link to the example, all of the images/slides are the same size. Create a few of those before you begin.
1. Convert each image/slide to it's own Movie Clip, so that you can go always go back and adjust them if needed....as well as other useful reasons.
2. You only need 2 layers for now, Actions & Container. On frame1, add a stop action to the frame on your actions layer. Then, place all of your Movie Clips on the stage, on the Container layer. Line them up horizontally, edge-to-edge. Select them all and convert to a Movie Clip named "container".
3. On the Container layer, Insert A Keyframe > move the Container Movie Clip to the left so that the next slide is now in place on the stage > Right click in between the two Keyframes and choose "Create Motion Tween". You should have the animation from slide 1 to slide 2 now. Repeat this process for 2 -3, 3-4, 4-5 ......(don't worry about the reverse!)
4. We need to create buttons to go to the next and previous slide. Make a new layer called Buttons. Create 2 buttons, one for Next and one for Previous. These can be Movie Clips OR Buttons, just place them on the stage give one an instance name of "next_btn" & "prev_btn" (no quotes) for the other.
5. All that's left is to add some actions to a few frames on the Actions layer.
a) Add a stop action to every frame where the slide will be static (still), you should already have one on the first frame from step 2.
b) Now here's where the magic happens. If we test the movie now, the slides will just play and over. So add this code to the frame 1 on the Actions layer:
Code: stop();//already have this stop action, just add the below this.onEnterFrame = function(){[code]....
I am trying to rewind the time line inside a movie clip using the enclosed code - it works fine on Rollover but only for 2 frames on Rollout - what do I need to add to repeat the prevFrame function and go back to the beginning?
Problem is that my rewind and fast forward buttons do not work properly in the sense that they start to mess up when you fast forward or rewind past the current scene. It seems to just skip through the whole movie and totally mess up the animation.the code for the controls is on a single layer and reads as the following:
I have a movie clip that runs in its own timeline. I want to stop the movie clip from playing whenever the mouse is clicked (in this application I am actually using a touch screen and I want the movie clip to stop playing whenever the screen is touched). In addition, I want the movie to rewind back to frame one so that none of the movie clip images are left on the screen.
I trying here to avoid having to bind resources to all my components labels ( ie a button) and find a way to have this automated.
Problem: It corrupts the layout in design mode to bind directly in the mxml label="{resourceManager.getString('myResources', 'submit')}" and makes the design view useless. but when declaring bindings elsewhere, in actionScript or via a bind tag, it is counter productive and prone to many errors and miss.
Proposition: I would like to create my own button that automatically invoke resources to localize a button label. So the author puts "Submit" in the mxml description of my button, and when running it would take the value of the label ie "submit" and use resourceManager.getString('myResources', 'submit').
but I can't find the way to override the set label function, Is it possible if yes how? else how can I go about it?
Maybe I am missing an essential process here that would make the use of resources more elegant, as well as how to override such thing as a button's label.
i am not an action script developer nor flash designer, i just want to have a small action script sample that i will edit a little to make it interact with my javascript code. By the way, i want to have a button and a label on a flash form, when the user clicks on this button the onclick event will call another function 'setText for example' this setText() function will change the label text. So i think the code will be something like this:
[Code]....
I managed to put the button and the label i want just the code i will write to make this work.
I have a movie called book_mc that is on scene1 the movie has several labels (red, green, blue, and yellow) in it's timeline. Also, on scene1 I have a button called book_but. If book_mc is on the label green of it's timeline. I want the button press of book_but to make it goto and play yellow. If book_mc is not on the green label of it' timeline I want the button press of book_but to make the timeline goto and play red.
I need to place a lot of buttons in the scene with different labels. I have created one button (not ui component). It is having custom look and feel. And I have placed many of the instances of this button in the scene.Now I need to add different labels two each button. These labels are not simply some texts, but movie clips.So how can I place these labels to each button? Placing an empty movie clip and calling attachMovie in action script failed..I am not sure how to achieve my requirement. If needed, I can give more explanation about the requirement.
I have made a slightly complicated movie-menu system for a portfolio. I was making separate .swf's but had problems linking them.
So I combined some.
I combined an intro movie into scene 1. I added the menu system to scene 2.
From Scene 2 you can select objects on my menu. One object that I could not include was a 122 layer flash movie. So when you click this button it loads the flash movie. The movie goes fullscreen then when finished goes back to the original file and closes itself. The problem is that I do not want it to go to the intro movie from scene 1. Is there a way to load the original movie AND send it to scene 2?
I have a main movie and a sidebar movie within it. In the sidebar movie, there is a tab that will insert text from an XML document based on the location of the playhead in the main timeline. I was thinking there must be some way to do an 'if else' statement to have the sidebar movieclip look for the playhead location in the main movie and get the appropriate child node based on that. However, I am not experienced enough in AS3, and I don't think I'm writing the function correctly. Here is the code, but there is also a link to the file I'm working with in case this code doesn't make sense:
PHP Code:
function LoadXML(e:Event):void { xmlData = new XML(e.target.data); var Intro01txt:String = xmlData.scriptText[0].narration.text();
What is the code to make you jump to a "Label" in a parent movie clip, when clicking on a button.Lets say the buttons name is push_btn and I am in mc2 and the label is located in mc1.
I have a Flash movie that uses three scenes. In scene one I have a button with some actionscript to take it to a frame label in that first scene and play the movie from that point on. It works fine. The problem is, in the third scene, I am trying the same action with a different button, going to a different frame label in that third scene. I am getting an error saying the frame label does not exist in that scene. Even though it does! I've checked for typos and everything looks fine. I've copied and pasted the simple actionscript from the third scene below. Is there a line I need to add to make this work in a scene that is not the first scene?
rocketstart_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, rocketbutton); function rocketbutton(event:MouseEvent):void { gotoAndPlay("rocket"); }
I'm trying to goto a frame label from within one movie clip, into another movie clip.For example, the structure is like this:MovieClip called 'allButtons'inside this clip, there are three movie clips with buttons in them, called 'buttonOne, buttonTwo, buttonThree'.Now, say I'm inside the movieclip 'buttonOne', which is inside the 'allButtons' clip. I want to goto a frame label within 'buttonTwo' called 'buttontwo'. How do I do this
on (release) { buttonTwo.gotoAndPlay("buttontwo"); }
I need to load an external movie file into the root of my main movie, so it replaces the main movie, and when it loads, it loads at a specific frame (or label)of that newly loaded movie.
Explanation: My main movie, lets call it "Main.swf", has a button which is part of a drop down (tree) list. When you click on the button, I want to load my second movie called "bearings.swf", and to immediately go to frame #2 of the "bearings.swf" movie.
i made swf which contain 7 button to control 7 pages i put this swf in dreamweaver to control ths file, i tried to give every single button Avalue to tell the root which frame in which movie clip(for the button to be highlight) but it deosn't work here is the code
////////////// the code for Buttons on (release) { if (_root.link != 1) { // if there anther selected button _root.menu["item"+_root.link].gotoAndPlay("s2"); _root.link = 1;
I wanted to know how to link Button within a movie clip linking to Frame Label?I am using Action-script 3.0
I am trying to use the following AS inside the movie clip from where i want to go to the other frame labeled as advt_sms but i am not able to go to that page [code]...
