ActionScript 2.0 :: MovieClipLoader Class - LoadClip Function Failure

I'm having a fun little bug with the loadClip function of the MovieClipLoader class. I've passed it a valid MovieClip and a valid filename (verified by traces) and it still returns false. It never calls the listener object I created with a onLoadStart or onLoadError event.

It never calls onLoadStart (I figured it might be a scope issue, so I placed the function inline. Otherwise, I created private functions for each event.)

I am trying to load a swf file into a movie clip. It works in IE but fails to load in FF.

I only discovered this problem when I started tracing values within and without different functions. In the onLoadInit function within my for loop, it only ever receives the last iteration of the loop:[code]Assuming that imgArray's length is 4, then the first trace statement will give me 0,1,2,3. However, the trace inside the loadClips's onLoadInit function will just spit out the last iteration for the number of loops, i.e. 3, 3, 3, 3.I really wanted to be able to use loadClip specifically for the onLoadInit function so I could size and place all my thumbnails dynamically,

When I load an external SWF into my UI SWF using MovieClipLoader.loadClip(), does the external SWF get cached?
Therefore, if the user tries to reload a SWF that had been previously loaded, the SWF will load from the local HDD instead of the website, right?
In my case, caching of content is important to reduce bandwidth usage.

I created a MovieClipLoader a few days ago that is reuseable. I will be using the same preloader graphics when I am loading in external swf on my stage. My MovieClipLoader functions fine with jpegs and smaller sized swf files. But whenever I load a larger sizes swf it loads the movie before it has fully downloaded in simulation mode. The odd part is that everything works fine with smaller swf files but not larger ones . I have tested a few movies and that seems to be the common theme.
In the example below main.swf is the clip I am loading into "mcBackground".

I'm using Actionscript 2.0, and I'm trying to pass a query parameter in the url portion of MovieClipLoader.loadClip, e.g. mcLoader.loadClip("movie1.swf?param=1234", blahblah);
but got the error "URLNotfound". If I omit "?param=1234", then it works. I need to put clip loading inside a class definition, so when I tried to use MovieClip.loadMovie, I find difficult to correctly setup the event handlers "onClipEvent(load)" or even worse with "onLoad".

I'm coding an XML photo gallery that displays thumbnails on the stage. But only 9 of these thumbnails can be viewed at a time. So I created a multidimensional array that groups my XML image nodes in groups of 9. The array is loading flawlessly but my thumbnail display function is having a few issues. First, only one image is being displayed instead of all images in the array. And I tried tracing the array in the output panel and it lists all the image files just fine. So I don't understand why the loadClip function is not rendering the images on stage. And secondly my grid repositioning function is not arranging the images as I would like it to (3x3 matrix).

The function is called with an interval of 500, and loads several images from an array into objects in a 3D Environment component (world).I'm using a MovieClipLoader and a listener for this, but somehow it keeps looping. After onLoadInit it starts loading the images again. How can I stop this?

I'm trying use the MovieClipLoader class to load up a swf and have it start at a particular frame. Such as:

I have a problem with loading an image path reference into a movieClip.On my movie loading I attachMovie according to i (no. of instances)Then I generate a copy of the instances (these are prepared ready for print - I have this working)
However, the initial creation of these instances is handled when the Flash movie loads and uses part of the code below to generate thumbnails:
myScroll.content.attachMovie("fav_content", "Stadium"+i, i);
var imgPath = mySharedObject.data["img"+i];
myScroll.content["Stadium" + i].imageLocation = imgPath;

The class is called multiple times once then when triggered in a duplicate movieclip but fails somehow - maybe the clue is duplicate tho tried that (duplicateMovieClip..)

I need to make a preloader for a test project that is very diffirent and a little bit off-beat as it uses script that I have prostetuted from a variety of diffirent files, see might take a while to load as it has no preloader and please note how it does load...), it scrolls the actual content of the site along the x axis in multiple speeds by using the following script 4 times for each layer/speed of content:[code]The actual files they are pulling are massive in file size and there fore I need to make a preloader that can cach all the content and then start to display the actual 'content/sliders' I dont even have an idea what kind of loader to use for something like this as I have already tried adding a little loading function (what the "clip1" "clip2" etc...) either I am making this to big of an issue and there is a realy simple way of doing this or there is none that will do what I require? does anyone know of a way for me to pre load everything with one preloader simotaniously?URL...

I'm writing an AS2.0 component that extends the UIComponent and I have the following movieClipLoader defined in the init() function:

movieClipLoader_mcl.onLoadComplete = loadCompleteRoutine;

The really strange part is that even though I get this error at compile time, the actual event handling functions (ex. loadProgressRoutine) actually run when they're supposed to. So even though Flash is complaining about the properties in the MovieClipLoader not existing, it uses them when it has to...

Does anyone know how to use the Loader method of this class? I want to play a movieclip in the loading position rather than a textbar which increases... All of the examples I've seen so far only show the latter of the two options... I can use loadMovie() and achieve what I want, but the MovieClipLoader class is the future.

I'm trying to set up a website that uses the MovieClipLoader class to load external images & swfs. The loader is working but I can't seem to get the preloader text to work, ie the onLoadProgress. I am trying to create a basic flash script to load an external swf file using MovieClipLoader class. Here's my code:

myMCL.loadClip("splash.swf",5);
I simply copied it from a tutorial. Unfortunately it throws an error message as follows:
1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: MovieClipLoader
1180: Call to a possibly undefined method.
PS: I have CS3 professional in my machine but I am following Flash 8 book. But my CS3 application supports AS1, 2 and 3.

I`m instancing a Character and a Player in the Main Timeline, all in frame 1.
When I use: ""player.attack(character)"" it works fine by itself.
So I added the if (defender._hp <= 0) this.win() which gives me the following error:
1061: Call to a possibly undefined method win through a reference with static type Character.
"defender" is a Character instance, "this" is a Player instance and "win()" is a Player method. I try to call the Player method inside a Character method using the Player instance adding the "." and his method name
Do I really need to define the win() function in the Character class? Is there a bypass to use a subclass method in a parent class method if it`s called from an instance of the subclass?
