I have a script that rotates my character using left and right keys. I want the character to move forward to the direction he is pointing at when I press up key.How can I calculate the needed X and Y amounts from the rotation?

I have a movieclip moving on a path by means of a tween. At the starting point a (virtual) line on the movieclip is tangent to the path. Is there an easy way to automagically rotate the movieclip such that this line remains tangent to the path throughout the tween?

Making a ship game because I am incredibly original.. With that aside, I have a problem. I have a function to fire bullets from my ship based on its rotation which works.. it uses this code on creation: ember ho jis ny mmujhe block kia hai

The above code is in my Ship class so I can easily make the bullets achieve the correct rotation. And to continually update its position, in the bullet's class:
x += Math.cos(rotation / 180 * Math.PI) * speed;
y += Math.sin(rotation / 180 * Math.PI) * speed;
So that all works well. But I have another class, EnemyBullet, which randomly generates and uses similar code to set its direction and movement. In my ship class:

I gather that the rotation is therefore always horizontal, but can't for the life of me see why? Can anyone give me an answer? Assuming it's simple enough because the code I used to setup the rotation is the same working code I have used to turn a movieclip towards the mouse..

I would like to let a MovieClip to move from lets say _x 200 to _x 800. When the mc reach the _x 800 it should return to _ 200 and visa versa. I like to do this with AS instead of with motion tween.

I have a Flash Movie that is using Actionscript 3.0 and I have a part of it, where the user has three choices of where to go. Once they go to one, it takes them to a certain frame, then returns to the choice frame. There are three choices here, and what I want to happen is have a button appear to move them past this section, only after they have viewed all three choices.

I have a site where I want to restrict the user from moving forward unless they have visited certain pages. So if you visit page 1, 2, & 3, then a button appears that lets you move forward. I have this working using buttons. See Example: boolean.zip
However what I need to have happen, is instead of having it check to see if you visited the page by clicking a button, I would like it to check if you visited a frame just be going to that frame. I am not sure how to do that.

I am curious if there is something to how preloaders like this work. Does each animation happen after a certain precent is loaded (in this example, when the squares turn green) or are they just animations that have nothing to do with the actual preloading?

I've got these 3 separate animations moving forward and backward based on simple rollover interaction. It all works and all is well with the world, but I know this can be done in a more efficient manner. Instead of duplicating all the functions with different numbered versions of their name, how can I group this stuff together and call it once? Just curious as I'd like to be more efficient with things like this moving forward.

Basically, what I'm trying to accomplish is moving a movieclip towards the direction it's facing.I've been scoping around the net for different ideas on how to do it, but I've only found AS2 tuts.What I've done already is making the movieclip rotate around it's own center when the user presses either the left or the right arrow-key.What I'm now trying to accomplish is to make the movieclip move forward to the direction it is currently facing when the user presses up and vice versa for pressing down.

The player rotates to the mouse when you click somewhere and moves there. The problem is sometimes when you click on a corner the player rotates towards where you clicked but sometimes starts moving sideways.

I need to move a movieclip dynamically over a path. The movieclip has a front which should remain pointing to front when moving along the path. So I need an angle at which the movieclip should be rotated regularly. This is something similar to the motion guide we have in Flash.

I have 2 container MovieClips (mc1, mc2), each of them has a separate x,y, rotation. I want to take a child from mc1 and addChild() it to mc2 while keeping the same x, y, and rotation on the screen so you see the added child mc as if it didnt change position or rotation, just moved to the other MC.

I have a papervision camera of which turns using keyboard input, I have a radar of which I would like to orientate to direction when the camera turns.I have it all working apart from mapping my (camera) DisplayObject3D.rotationY to RadarInterface.rotation correctly.The camera (or any 3d object) works with values I'm finding hard:Clockwise: 0 to 89, 89 to 0, -0 to -89, -89 to -0 doing a complete 360.So if I were to turn 180 degrees I'd go from 0 to 90 and back down to 0 again.

I have a group of pictures which are going to be overlapping. I want the user to be able to view the whole picture (bring it to the front) when they roll the cursor over that picture. I'm sure this is very easy to do but I'm not so experienced with flash coding yet.

I currently have objects populating the screen randomly and bouncing around the stage. The problem is, some of the objects are getting stuck and bouncing back and forth rapidly between two points. How can I prevent this?

i have the follow issue :
I have a point which is setted at the border on a component, with changed transform point to the center of a component in order to match the component rotation.
the important part is when i try to get the point XY after rotation - they remains the same as before rotation.
how to get XY, after rotation ( changeing point.rotation property to specific degrees of rotaion )

I am new to using Flash, but with some helpful YouTube tutorials and various Google searches, I was able to create a slide show that automatically transitions to the next after 6 seconds. I also thought it would be neat if I could give users the ability to go back or forward or jump specifically to a certain slide. But my problem is that after I click a button, the timer seems to be off.

I am trying to do a apply a tween for the width property on a MovieClip Object but every time it changes the width and the position too, and I don't want that. I want to change the width going to one side without changing the x and y of the object.
I tried both of thes and they gave the same result.
var c:Tween = new Tween(left, "scaleX", Strong.easeOut, 1, 1.5,20,true);
var c:Tween = new Tween(left, "width", Strong.easeOut, 20, 200,20,true);
I think it is applying the transformation according to a center of the movie clip. but I don't know how it can be changed.

Im working on a small project and it involves a guy which you move with the arrow keys. The arrow keys add to his x, y velocities and his position is updated accordingly. How can i get this man to grab onto an object and spin around it (like when you grab pole and letting your momentum swing you around) . I can make him grab the object but I dont know how to modify his x,y speeds to simulate the arc.

I have an object, the center of the object I believe is the rotation point. When I click transform and edit the rotation properties on the right side to like 55 degrees then it works, it rotates from the point it's suppose to and looks great. The problem is when I use AS .rotation on the object, I have no idea where it's rotating from and it's going all over the freaking place. I assumed it would rotate from the same rotation point as the transform tool rotates the object from. I also assumed 0-360 was the options for rotation. What am I doing wrong? from the looks of it's odd rotation I can't even tell where it's centering.

I need to move between (rotated) object in flex along x, y, or z as an independent observer. The movement relative to x, y works ok, but when I go along the z axis, the observer behaves as it was apart of the xyz system of the objects and doesn't go straightforward to the object but in diagonal for example. I would like to force objects to have the same rotation for images showed when mouse is rollover. Right now the images are shown relative to the rotation of the object the mouse is over.How do I force the rotation to make the mouse over image stay portrait?I have the same problem with the scale of the images.
