ActionScript 2.0 :: Complete Animation Before Moving Forward In The Movie?

Mar 13, 2005

[URL].. The preloader on this site seems to run through a complete animation before moving forward in the movie.

I am curious if there is something to how preloaders like this work. Does each animation happen after a certain precent is loaded (in this example, when the squares turn green) or are they just animations that have nothing to do with the actual preloading?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Require Visiting Certain Frames Before Moving Forward?

Sep 1, 2011

I have a site where I want to restrict the user from moving forward unless they have visited certain pages. So if you visit page 1, 2, & 3, then a button appears that lets you move forward. I have this working using buttons. See Example: boolean.zip

However what I need to have happen, is instead of having it check to see if you visited the page by clicking a button, I would like it to check if you visited a frame just be going to that frame. I am not sure how to do that.

ActionScript 3.0 :: RollOver Interaction - Moving Animations Forward And Backward

May 19, 2010

I've got these 3 separate animations moving forward and backward based on simple rollover interaction. It all works and all is well with the world, but I know this can be done in a more efficient manner. Instead of duplicating all the functions with different numbered versions of their name, how can I group this stuff together and call it once? Just curious as I'd like to be more efficient with things like this moving forward.

ActionScript Code:
//CLIP ONE CONTROL
function loopback(event:Event):void {
this.celebration_mc.prevFrame();
this.light_mc.prevFrame();
} function backwards() {

ActionScript 3.0 :: Adding Fast Forward Button To Animation

May 6, 2011

I would like to add a Fast forward button to my animation. I tried to modify existing AS2 code but I just cant get it to work. I'm getting errors about _root and it doesn't seem to like controller__mc. The AS2 version that works is:

forward_btn.onPress=function (){
_root.createEmptyMovieClip("controller_mc",1);
controller_mc.onEnterFrame=function(){
_root.gotoAndStop(_root._currentframe+3);
}}

And here is my sorry try at it in AS3:
forward_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN , playMovie);{
_root.createEmptyMovieClip("controller_mc",1);
} controller_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DO WN, playMovie);
_root.gotoAndStop(_root._currentframe+3); {
stop();
}

ActionScript 2.0 :: Waiting For Animation To Complete?

Nov 15, 2007

I'm using a custom class to lay out a background consisting of square tiles picked at random. These are provided to the class as an array of library symbols, and they are placed on stage with the attachMovie method.- These tiles are different animations that all end up in a solid colored square. When all the tiles have finished animating, the result will be a large rectangular shape that serves as a unified background for content like text and graphics, so I't simply a sort of fancy build animation for the background.

- Naturally, I don't want to be displaying content before the animation has finished, so I need to do that based on some kind of event being dispatched. The problem is that these animations are timeline-based and I want my class to know when all background clips have reached their final frame.The question: How should I do this? Extending MovieClip for each of the animations seems a bit tedious since that would require one class per background tile MovieClip, and I don't want to be constantly checking the currentFrame of all the clips either.

Code:
public function TiledBackground(target:MovieClip,
bgSymbols:Array,

ActionScript 2.0 :: Clicking Button Before Animation Is Complete?

Dec 8, 2008

I'm working on a small flash site, and when I click on a menu item it fades into the next page. The problem is when I click on several buttons in rapid succession, not allowing the page animation to complete, which screws up everything leaving pages superimposed on top of other pages. My question is, how do I handle this problem, outside of deactivating the buttons until the animation is complete. I would like the user to be able to click the button no matter where the page is in its animation and have a smooth transition to the next page.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Complete The HitTest For The Animation Sequence?

Sep 14, 2009

I need a little help to complete the hitTest for my animation sequence. Please see the orange section of my code:

Code:
stop();
var myLoader03:Loader=new Loader ();
temperature_small.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN,dragTemperature);
function dragTemperature(myevent:MouseEvent):void {

[code]....

As you can see (hopefully), I need the movieclip to be released by stopDrag and it must also overlap with the CH1_btn button before the URLRequest can proceed. But what I'm getting now is the mouse loses control of the temperature_small movieclip when it contacts the CH1_btn (I keep moving the mouse around, but the movieclip remains stuck with the CH1_btn button). The trace didn't work and the URLRequest didn't proceed as well.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Forward And Backwards Movie Clip Play?

Apr 15, 2009

I want to create a movie clip to play forward when the mouse hovers over it but backwords when the mouse rolls off. This sounds easy enough but I having a few problems getting it to work.

I do not want to clip to jump to a position before changing direction.

I am having problems getting the clip to go backwards on the rolloff if the foward movement has not been completed.

I thought that I could just use script to send the clip forward by one frame on roll over (frame = frame+1), and opposite on roll off but it does not appear to work - i think it may be much more complicated than this.

Actionscript :: IDE - Moving To Frame 2 Breaks Animation

Oct 7, 2009

Let's start off by saying that I am the greenest of green newcomers to the world of Flash and Actionscript. I have created several animations based off of the great camera movement tutorial found here: [URL]Everything works great when I have my actionscript code in a single frame environment. However, I am currently trying to figure out how to create a simple menu/welcome screen that will allow the user to choose which animation to play before returning to the menu and choosing another. When I move my code to frame 2 (as I am trying to create my menu on frame 1), my animation does not work correctly. As I am so new to this, I'm afraid there are very basic concepts I do not understand and this is preventing me from effectively researching and troubleshooting this problem on my own.

Using the Kirupa racing example tutorial files, if I simply move the actionscript to frame 2 I see a continuous loop which seems to include the initial placement of the scene's components, but it doesn't stay in the frame to allow for any camera movement or to continue with the animation. This makes sense to me, as it is continuously looping between frames 1 and 2. When I attempt write this code on Frame 1: gotoAndPlay(2);, I simple see static images of the scene's elements (the tire and the car) and no animation. I had expected it to play as normally as it does when the actionscript is located on Frame 1. What basic concepts am I missing here and does anybody have any advice on how I should proceed?
