ActionScript 2.0 :: Note On External SWF Transition Tutorial?

Jan 7, 2008

First post. I was just going through Voetsjoeba's tutorial on making transitions between external swf's [URL]..

"If your buttons are not located on the main timeline, you will have to change the path to the container movieclip. In this example the buttons are located on the main timeline, therefore 'container' targets the container movieclip correctly. Though, if they are not on the main timeline, you must change container to the appropriate path."

I was wondering if anyone could elaborate on this. That is, how the path to the container movieclip would need to be changed in this situation. Apologies if the question is too vague.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Modification To The Transition Tutorial?

Nov 5, 2004

well this is gonna be a long big essay. So lets start. I used this tutorial to make a nice menu. I got some ideas by searching this forum. Finally came up with this (check the attached .fla) ... Allright, now umm...its really hard to explain. But i gotta explain this. lease Check the attached fla to get the idea of what I am talking here. You will notice that there are 3 buttons in the MAIN MENU. 1) Home 2 Forums. or the SUBMENU : I put 3 more buttons inside the forums_mc (look in the library) on frame 61. The buttons are 1) EXT MC 1 , 2) EXT MC 2, 3) EXT MC 3. I want to use these buttons to load external swf. I want to use the same logic used in the transition tutorial to make the intro and outro transitions. In addition to that, if I press any button on the MAIN MENU, the externally loaded swf should play outro transition and also collapse the SUBMENU. BUT (this is important) , if I press any button in the SUB MENU (like the button EXT MC 2) , then outro transition should play in the ext swf, but the SUB MENU SHOULD NOT PLAY THE OUTRO ANIMATION (which we want to do, when pressing any button on MAIN MENU).

Also the externally loaded swf should load in the emptycontainer movieclip inside the FORUMS_MC clipSo, got any ideas how to do this ???k the attached files. The above discription will only make sense if you see the .fla and other files attached. tried my best to do this, but could not succeed. Also, i asked many friends, but they are not able to do this...I am pretty sure that Masters like POM and Voetsjoeba, scotty and many others will be able to solve this problem.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Transition Tutorial Load A Swf Into A Loaded Swf?

Jul 31, 2006

I am working with the transitions tutorial: [URL]... Here is a link to the modified example im working on. [URL]...If you are familiar with this tutorial you will see this is familiar. Main movie checks to see if the specific section is at "midframe" if its not it waits and does nothing, then once you have transitioned to midframe and stopped it, click on the next section will then transition out and load the next movie. I am tring to do a little variation of it.

ok we have mainmovie2004.swf which has 4 buttons. Each button, section1, section2, section3, and section4 all load specific movies to "container" on the main timeline. Section1 button loads section1.swf, Section2 button loads section2.swf...etc. Well I have placed another set of buttons in each section (just section1 and 2 for example sake). Each button loads a specific movie into container_small (yeah I know it doesnt follow camelCode but thats the least of my concerns). I have been messing around with the code and I am able to get Section1 to load, then when I click on the first pink button in section1 it loads section1.1 which is (section1_1.swf). When I click on the next button it just reloads the same section no matter what. The other sections work because when you load section1 and click on any pink button the corresponding swf loads just doesnt ever transition out. The tree would like like this: {mainmovie2004.swf[section1.swf(section1_1.swf)]}.

I think the problem is the last frame of each sub section has an action that will load the next section. I need to get the path correct.

The rollover states of the buttons work but when one clicks on the calender it does not work and some other things dont work also. I would really like to implement this in my site. Does anyone know why this might be or if it has been answered before.

I got it to work by using loadMovieNum but then lost placement of the swf it keeps going to the top left. I would really like to use loadClip it seems alot more customizable.

Actionscript 2.0 :: External Swf Preload Tutorial And Xml?

Mar 30, 2009

I am trying to load an external swf that uses an xml file. The main movie is called mySite. The external swf is gallery.xml. And it uses the file gallery.xml. It works fine as a stand alone movie. Following along with the tutorial I created a movie clip in my site on a frame to use as the stage. I call this movie clip galleryStage. Inside the galleryStage movie clip I followed the tutorial but left out the buttons portion.I am not using any..I created galleryHolder, galleryLoader, and actions layers. I created movie clips with the same names and instance names on their respective layers.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Transitions Between External Swf's Tutorial

Oct 3, 2006

Great tutorial, works excellent. My only issue is how to do this on multiple levels? I'm trying to get an external swf open within an external swf. I know this probably isn't necessary but it does keep the site easily managed and very dynamic. It works on the main swf, and if i test it on the the linked page it works as well, just not together. I orginally thought that maybe it was the conflicting container names/variables so I made sure to change those. Maybe the solution would be to use a common container?

Please download my sample fla here: [URL] (note, not all linked swf's are included, just enough to get the point across. The issue is with the sub-menu within "Information").

ActionScript 2.0 :: One In & Out Transition For Several External .swf's

Dec 24, 2005

I'm trying to do a transition that applies to all the external .swf's that will be loaded into an area in the main movie, which basically "eats" the current external .swf and then opens to show the new chosen .swf. Therefore I have one problem: the Actionscript needed for both the buttons and for that transition clip, in the middle point. By middle point I refer to that point where it has just "ate" the existing .swf and will now start to display the chosen .swf

So I would need something like - on hitting a button, it telling the movie clip to be placed in an imaginary level or something like that, and then I'd place an action in that middle point of the transition movie clip, to display what's on the immaginary "level". Until there, the previous .swf is visible (though the transition is sort of "eating it", hehe) I know there are some threads with situations that are alike, but I haven't found the same type of situation..

ActionScript 2.0 :: Transition Between External SWFs

Oct 15, 2005

I'm not having trouble doing the transition. However, I'm not doing it the way its described in the tutorial on the main site. I dont have a frame to tween to as an intro, or a frame to tween to as an "extro" when another SWF is loaded. I am having a SWF tell level0_ the dimensions of some MC right before a different MC is loaded, then level0_ tells the new loaded MC (inside the new SWF) to Tween from the dimensions it just recieved (old SWF) to the dimensions of the new loaded MC. It works great.. its completely dynamic.

The problem is that the MC flashes when the next SWF is loaded, which is obviously it resizing to the old SWF's dimensions, so it can Tween to the new dimensions. Theres got to be a way around this! I've seen dozens of sites tween perfectly, do they use the intro/extro method, or is their entire site in one SWF? or is this possible the way I want it?

heres a gander at the code:

old SWF Dimensions sent to _level0 before unloading:

Code:
_level0.tempWidth = _level5.contentBox_MC._width;
_level0.tempHeight = _level5.contentBox_MC._height;
_level0.tempX = _level5.contentBox_MC._x;

Jquery :: Need To Dynamically-generate A "sticky Note" Text

Apr 14, 2010

Working on a website that has an image of a sticky note which will change text somewhat frequently (every month or so) as new "todo" items are created on it. Font I'm currently using is not Web Safe and the text is slightly angled to match the skew of the sticky note as well. Now I'm a pragmatist, and in situations like this I would normally cede defeat and opt for something more CSS/HTML practical. But no more! I'm falling a bit behind on what's going on with HTML5, CSS3, PNG graphics, Flash (ugh), and/or any other rich visuals. I'm decent with PHP/CSS/JS (jquery), have dabbled in Flash/actionscript too. My question is: what tools/method should I be looking at here? EDIT: I've switched to Comic Sans MS/Cursive -- pragmatism is fighting back furiously.
