I got another XML gallery thrown at me this week and am thinking of adding a new feature.When a user clicks on a gallery it will load the first image, and continue to load all of the images so they won't have to wait each time they hit next, as it would be in their cache. this link has been thrown around a lot, but I don't think this feature (which is an awesome feature, oh yes) has been addressed. Goto one of the galleries and wait for it to load, and then keep hitting next. The pictures load before you get there. You can catch up to the unloaded ones and reach a loader bar if you hit next enough times
Then About 20 additional Infos like that. Now the whole xml list has the same tags. How would i go about displaying them in flash? I wanted to use one MC and have it duplicate for each info category and place the MCs on the stage so it looks like a gallery. Each MC would have a picture with some info on it loaded form the XML.
I am new to Flash and am trying to make a page that has a fullscreen image gallery with individual thumbs along the bottom. I can more or less figure this out using some templates,but I need to do this for over 50 different projects, each with anywhere from 1-100 images.Is it possible to make more of a container that dynamically loads from a folder of images rather than have to make each one by hand?
There are buttons on either side that scroll the dynamically loaded images left and right. The script is compiled from an external AS file which I've pasted below.
What I need to do is load a transparent png over top of the images but underneath the buttons. I've inserted a graphic below. I've tried inserting the png directly in the timeline as well as loading it dynamically in to a movie clip. The overlay always comes out on the bottom. [code]...
Basically what I've got is a XML loaded gallery as a background for a web page. Now the problem I can't seem to work out is, I want to be able to define which pictures in the gallery show up in different sections of the website. For example - homepage - images 1.jpg, 2.jpg and 3.jpg are accessible. About Us - images 4.jpg, 5.jpg and 6.jpg are accessible. and so on. Similar to what happens on [URL] but without the gallery popping up. It's relay bugging me now.
Click on the first and second thumbnail a few times so that everything is loaded (I didn't use preloaders etc for now).Notice the wipe when you click the thumbnail? I spent already a long time to create this :-)But now I want it to wipe out if you click another button, then wipe in again to show that new image etc... 'navi' is the MC with all the buttons in it. 'vol01' and 'vol02' are instance names of the first two buttons. 'container' is an empty movieclip. 'wiper' is a white MC of which I change the width with actionscript = wiping effect.For now I load .swf files instead of jpg's, because when I put ("pic_01.jpg") instead of ("pic_01.swf"), it doesn't work. (edit: I found it, my jpgs were progressive...)
So basically what I want when the first pic is shown and you click on thumbnail2:
-wipe out image currently displayed -load new image (pic_02) -AFTER new image is fully loaded, wipe in to show this image and so on
What would be cool also is the following:
when you click button 2, load image 2 while image 1 is still displayed. When loading is finished, a white line goes from left to right, wiping out image 1 and at the same time wiping in image2.Note that there will be 4 of these galleries with +-80 thumbnails each...I read the transitions between external swf's tutorial, but I want to load a bunch of jpg's, and not make 4*80 swf's with each only 1 jpg in it...
I have made a gallery with xml, and my problem is that when the thumbnails are loaded they move on the Y axis and doesn't want to be in their original placed position. I am attaching a zip with my problematic sample to see what i mean. Attachments: another_problem.zip (147.0 K)
I followed a youtube tutorial on how to create a fancy Image Gallery but when I got to run it I keep getting the following error : interface 'flash.events.MouseEvent' could not be loaded.

i am using a kirupa XML gallery (v3 i think) and i want to keep the loaded image on the screen until the new one is completly loaded. Is there any way to transfer one loaded image to another movieClip or I have to do it all the way with 2 movieclips objects and use them alternatively!
I have completed the xml thumbnail gallery and it works standalone. I want to load it into another swf which is part of my main movie. The only problem is that when i do this the XML doesnt seem to load. If anyone could shed some light on this, that would be great. U can dl the FLA's below. Completed Gal here. I'm developing an XML thumbnail photo gallery and haveeverything working out correctly except for the grouping of mythumbnails on the stage. I can only display 9 thumbnail images at atime, and if I have more than 9 in my XML data file I have aproblem. What would be the best way to group my thumbnails in setsof 9? How can I set a limit to the display of these thumbnails ifsay, I have 20 thumbnail images? I was thinking of grouping theinformation into arrays, but is this the only feasible way to go

When i load a new album i used a code you posted here: AS3 How to remove previous loadersbut the problem is that sometimes the user leaves the album page before ALL the pics laod so when they click on a new album to open it a new image is placed somewhere else cause the loader has already been launched. I've tryd to close() the loader but it doesn't seem to work.Here you can see the working site to see what im talking abouy you have to click on an album, leave before all the pictures load and open up another one.

I have a flash site with 10 different tabs/sections with a stage size of 1200 x 1372. The final tab of the site contains a photo gallery, which I would like to have a different stage size and just fit the browser screen as it loads an external SWF which auto fits to the screen. At the moment, it auto fits the stage size meaning the bottom half of the photos don't show. How I can just alter the last page?

The problem is if I press the buttons in a sequential manner..the data loads fine..but If i pres it randomly choosing a button..the data doesnt loads according to the button..The problem lies with the Variable "p". Here is the Actions on Frame-1 :

I'd like to take a gallery of images I'm bringing via amfphp and have one big preloader for all of them. So, once all the images are downloaded the loader bar is at 100%..Can I do this from an external swf loading in the gallery movie clip?
I have created a web gallery using Photoshop CS2 to allow my clients to proof their images. From this gallery I want to allow them to flag images they like then submit the selections to me via email.Currently they are using the gallery just to view the images. There is not a way to mark the images or to submit them via email. The clients have to manually write down the file names, type and email, and send it to me.
1. Can the function of selection boxes be added to the web gallery? I do not own the full flash program.
2. Can the file names for the selected images be put into an email to me using a submit button?
That said, I would like to alter some of the code to allow the thumbnail scrollbar to begin scrolling once the page has loaded. Here is what the code looks like as it is right now.
I want to be able to get the ID3 data tags from the mp3 that has been loaded into the soundChannel. I cant see a problem as far as getting the data using trace, but how would I go about displaying this information on my flash document, in a specific location? The data I wanted to include was the title, artist, and the duration.
I have an AS3 application and I'm trying to implement an MVC framework.On the model's initialization, data is gathered about the user. When the user clicks a button, say to print their first name, I want to request and retrieve only that data from the model.I currently have the view listening for a button click. The button click is handled by the controller. The controller fires a "getUserFirstName" method in the model. I'm confused about this part...Since the controller and not the view is calling the method, I can't do a return of the user's first name in this method. Should I dispatch an update event? I'm not sure how to pass this data to the view in the most efficient way.
swf file A gets loaded into swf file B. swf file A allows a user to sign up for a promotion which uses URLLoader to send data out to an external domain. the external domain has a crossdomain.xml file which does get loaded, but I continue to get Security Sandbox Errors.Is it allowed to send data from a loaded swf file (swf file A) to an external domain?
I have two classes: Level, which dictates a tile-based level, and MapLoader, which loads a text file on my local machine.I am calling a load function through Level asking MapLoader to load, but when I try to parse the data, MapLoader isn't done with the load.I've tried putting the load in a while loop, but it just freezes.
