ActionScript 2.0 :: Preloader - Loading Random SWF File
Jul 6, 2005
Code:
filename = ["header1.swf", "header2.swf", "header3.swf", "header4.swf", "header5.swf"];
path = "[URL]";
i = filename.length;
k = Math.floor(Math.random()*i);
loadMovie(path+filename[k], movieTarget);
That is the code that I am using for the container swf. I know the code works because I used it for static images and it worked fine. When I take a look and the HTML file, this is the error I get.
"A script in this movie is causing Macromedia FLash Player 7 to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive."
Each of the header swf files are about 40k, and they each load AS from a single AS file. Do I need a preloader?
im playing with the load random movie (but loading a random xml file instead) based on the wonderful tutorial from front page and was wondering whether anyone can show me the work around/upgrade to AS2 for this bit of script since im publishing to Flash 8 /AS2 and it doesnt work:
what I'm trying to do is make a preloader that will preload about 20 external SWF files before it lets you get to my main file. I want to do this because my main file needs the SWFs to be ready to go once its done loading. I have looked around and i found a few ways to do this with the "if (loadedBytes>=totalBytes)" and the code loops back till the files are done loading... this would be just what i need but i cant seem to get it to work. the file just seems to start loading my files but does not loop and just runs the time-line even once i state what frames i want it to loop.
Can you put a loading bar on, say, frame 1 and have Flash show it? Or do you need to put in another file and load the external SWF (which I am loading is 1.8 mb) into another SWF to have a loading screen? It would be convenient if you could do it in the same file
I am currently preloading it (game.swf) from another SWF file (gameload.swf). However, game.swf's sound files are not playing, and I'm just testing it locally. All sounds exported for actionscript are not playing
How do I know that my preloader is loading the rest of my file? I put a preloader on the first frame The rest of my web site is on the second frame If that takes too long to load up, I want the preloader to load. How do I know it is actually loading up the rest of the site? Or, is that not what a preloader actually does?
I want to have a background image that randomly loads from a list of *.jpg files in a txt file. The txt file is to be edited by user (to add a new image) without accessing the code contained in the .fla, and the txt file gives the location of the images.
i am having major brain burp... I want to have a background image that randomly loads from a list of *.jpg files in a txt file. The txt file is to be edited by user (to add a new image) without accessing the code contained in the .fla, and the txt file gives the location of the images. It is possible I know - but my old head isn't working. I need this for a charity that I do free work for;
I have created a preloader, and I want to tell the action script of the preloader once the file is done loading, put it away and load a new movie, or even a new flash file if i have to.here is the action script i have on the loader right now. Its just numbers counting from 1-100% and a .gif clip that plays but they are not connected in any way.
I have created a preloader in flash, with help from a tutorial, but it doesn't work properly. The preloader starts with loading on 100%. This is what I'm talking about:[url].......I created a smaller file to demonstrate my problem.
[URL] The website button function and External swf transition scripting is base on that tutorial. it would be great if i could let peoples to see the preloading process while my web loading the external swf file.. can any one here tell me how to add a preloader to show loading progress every time the external swf files loading?
I am now using the code for my background image which will rotate when you enter a new gallery.I can't get it to randomize.[code]I have tried adding: Math.floor(Math.random() * total); and it almost works. It seems everytime the last node is called it stops working (also at other random times, haven't found a pattern).
I have made a random image loader for a slideshow, but the preloader does not work for it (I grabed the preloader from a previous website I made) Is there a way to preload the images or the slideshow and/or have the next image pre-load while the current image is playing. I have attached a zip file of the random image loader
I would like for the website preloader to recognize the random image loader that I have on frame 8 of my siteI have a basic preloader on frames 1 and 2(frame 1)
To make the random image display completely before continuing with the rest of the movie. I want the random image as a background and display the loading progress of the image.So far:I have managed to crete random image displays but on theinternet the movies continues on while the image still loading in the background.The goal:TO display the random background image completely while showing its loading progress. Only once the image is loaded the rest of the movie can continue.
I have a preloader on my flash website, however when it runs for its first time, the preloader will sometimes hang at a random spot, say at 27% or 50%. To continue, the user must refresh, and that second time around the page will load fully. It does not do this for every first run, it seems to be pretty random, but once it has happened to someone and they refresh through it, it won't happen again. Here is the preloader code:. Note, "bar" is the instance name for the bar object on the stage to represent how much is loaded.
Code: stop(); import flash.net.URLRequest; import flash.ui.ContextMenu; var loaded:Number; var percent:Number; bar.addEventListener( Event.ENTER_FRAME, load_progress ); [Code] .....
I'm creating a flash 3d website for a company. The idea is that there is one overall swf file - this holds the navigation and design. Once the user clicks on a button, it goes to frame 10, I have included the following script to load a swf file
the preloader works, but instead of going to frame 2 of that swf file, it goes to frame 2 of the overall swf that holds the navigation. Does anyone know how to get around this so that it goes to frame 2 in the same swf file as the preloader?
I am wondering if it is possible to use random file access for reading and writing data to file in Actionscipt 3.0 similar to that what is in Visual Basic?
So I've spent an entire day trying to make my old AS2 file that loaded random swf's work with AS3 with no luck. Every time I think I've found the code to fix it, nothing works. The search here yields results for AS2, but not AS3. I'm ready to throw my laptop through the window at this point. I'm new to AS3, so bear in mind that I'm a newb. I need the ability to load random banner ads into a movie clip in my main flash swf.
My xml was loading fine until I made a preloader( not made, did it with a tuto). The preloader is on frame 1 and the xml + all items on my stage are on frame 3. I traced the xml but it comes out undefined... What is happening ??Do I miss something else to launch my xml loading ? Here is the code for the preloader in case:
stop(); this.onEnterFrame = function() { var amount:Number = this.getBytesLoaded()/this.getBytesTotal()*100;
im making a site that need to have random videos load on the front page.i have couple of swfs on the root, and i made a .swf named random that will load on the main page (uploaded in same folder with the swfs) and hopefully it will load one of the movies at a time. No luck so far.this is the code i use
stop(); var movieArray:Array = ['1', '2', '3']; var loader:Loader = new Loader();
I want to load a random swf from a group of 6. Basically from the intial page i want the user to press a button and this then displays one of the 6 swfs randomly.
I have saved my swf files as numbers 1-6.swf and saved them in a folder called movies. I need to firstly generate a random number between 1 and 6 and then load this corresponding swf file.
I'm trying to make an application in which every time you hover on an image (there is only one image on the stage) a new quote is loaded into a dynamic textfield from an xml file displayed over the image.I have so far managed to load a quote from the xml and it looks good, but I don't know how to randomize the quote, now it only loads the first quote every time I hover on the image.Do I need to rethink the whole code, or just add to it?Here's the code:
stop (); var XMLFILEURL:String = "news.xml"; var spacing:Number = 2;
Having problems with creating a simple progress bar with percentage loader recieving bytes loaded from a external swf file loading into a empty movieclip using as2. When exported the progress bar is complete and reads 100% and doesn't load the swf. Other attempts resulted with the loader not being shown and the swf being loaded, which is good but, the progress loader doesn't appear.
Here is the code I'm using. -------------------------------- //First Frame
I am trying to figure out how to add a preloader to my source, but i have an issue everything i have written is loaded externally through actionscript on frame 2, but it still shows everything loading on frame 1.
Here is what the bandwidth meter shows... it is showing everything on frame 1.
I need the preloader to load on frame1, and its not working. Instead the preloader loads with the rest of the site, and dissapears right away.
I am trying to implement a preloader for loading an swf. I have an swf named 001.swf. I need to create a preloader for loading this swf. So should i create one more swf for loding the 001.swf.
i use an action for preloading a movieclip on my website and it works the first time it downloads, but when you click on the gallery again, it doesnt load, but just shows the start of the preloader.The site:[link removed at poster's request]You can see the problem if you click on "Talk Show Hosts", wait untill it loads, click clients and then back to "Talk Show Hosts".Now it doesnt load, and its the same with the other galleries.The site works by loading an external swf file with the UILoader, the swf that is loaded is a ScrollPane that loads a Movieclip.
stop(); //PreloaderloaderInfo.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, updatePreloader); function updatePreloader(evtObj:ProgressEvent):void{ //container for the progress of
