ActionScript 2.0 :: Random Sounds On Button Press?
Jan 20, 2009
im currently trying to make a game for a college project, im using flash professional 8,
the game rquires a random sound to be played on a button click, but i have no idea how to do that? all my sounds have instant and libary names of sound_1, sound_2 ect and i currently have this actionscript in place on the button, the button is called play_sounds.
play_sounds.on(mouseDown) = function(){
var randNum = Math.ceil(Math.random() * 10);
var mySound = new Sound();
I'm trying to put together a simple flash file for a project I'm wokring on and can't seem to work out the actionscript to do what i want! Wondered if someone would be able to help me here? It's very simple what i want to do... I have 3 short sounds and one button. On pressing the button i want the sound1 to play, then as soon as it's finished start looping sound2 untill the button is released when sound3 would play. I hope this makes sense. (im using flash CS5 but set for actionscript 2/flash8, if it's easier in actionsscript 3 and flashCS5 let me know and ill change my approach)
What's I'm looking at doing is making a button that plays 1-20 different sounds at random each time the button is clicked (hit), and also have an image swap when that happens. A different sound and different image (the same 1 image per sound, not random images, just sounds "image1 goes with sound1").
I'm used to working with the timeline and don't often go into the actionscript side of things.
I've created a 60 second animation of an hourglass timer counting down, and next to it, is a card showing a word. I need this whole animation to play when you hit a 'start game' button and also I need the word on the card to be a random word. All of the words are saved as separate vector files for now.
What is the best way to manage this on the timeline, and what would be the code to make a random image appear?
I wanted that, when I place the mouse on the button, a movieclip appears, but in a random place in the screen, with a random size and a random color and plays until all its animation is complete, and then disappear.How can I do that? I don't know even where to start!
A background music looping in the back, that starts with the opening of the swf and never stops. I think I achieved that with this bit of code :import flash.media.Sound;
Finally I need to jump from frame to frame randomly to play various animations. For example :Project starts, background music starts playing, we hear random sounds played one after the other, while some animations can be seen on screen, playing in a random order.
I want to make a button that makes you got to a random frame within a certain range (eg frame 41-50) when you press it. I have tried various codes but so far no luck. Im using AS 2 and the button is within a couple of movie clips, but you can still click it when you test
I followed the mp3player tutorial (part 3) from [URL] and got it working fine. Only problem is that the setVolume I'm trying to use with my music is affecting all my other sounds - button sounds and background sound. I'm aware of the createEmptyMovieClip/attachSound approach and got it working on my other sounds. But Lee's tutorial-mp3player is using a slight different technique, and so my normal approach doesn't quite work.
I am definitely horrible at ActionScript'ing. So it's taking me a while to get anywhere.
I want to use a button to trigger random sounds (.wav & .mp3) from a folder. And is it possible to do this wihout taking into account the number of sounds in the folder (since there will be many and no set number). And is it possible to this without caking the file names into consideration?
So I've been messing around with some code to see if I can get a button to play a random sound from an array by using a function. However, I keep getting the error
TypeError: Error #1007: Instantiation attempted on a non-constructor. at Untitled_fla::MainTimeline/ClickHandler()
I am currently working on an assignment that requires me to add sound to a mobile game. This is fairly straightforward in many ways but I wondered if there was any way that I could add multiple sounds to a single movie clip or action?
What I really want to do is to have say three or four different sounds for the sound of a spaceship exploding in the game to create variety and stop the gamer getting bored of the same sound every time they hit a spaceship.
ActionScript Code: **Error** Symbol=movieclip, layer=Layer 1, frame=1:Line 3: Statement must appear within on handler movieclip.gotoAndStop ("framelabel",random(4)+2); **Error** Symbol=movieclip2, layer=Layer 2, frame=1:Line 3: Statement must appear within on handler movieclip2.gotoAndStop ("framelabel"random(10)+2);
. The AS is on said button within the MC, and the MC has an instance name.This is the AS I'm using. I'm trying to make a randomize button that generates a random frame in my flash file instead of one MC..
ActionScript Code: on (release) { movieclip.gotoAndStop ("framelabel"random(4)+2); movieclip2.gotoAndStop ("framelabel"random(10)+2); }
I want the press button to detect the last button pressed and if the shapes match, make them do something...obviously. I think I'm going at it the wrong way. I need to stick a "triange" id into the button/mc then if compares that and then if there is a match works then... right?
i'm designing a website in flash8... now i have created some buttons, and i want that when i click on the button stars will fly from them and there will be a sound... i have already created the animation of the stars seperatly and it's in the library, i have also the sound file.... i just can't remember how to put everything together.... when i'll press on the button the stars will be flying from the button and the sound will play?
i have a set of buttons cranked out from and XML file. how can i emulate, in code, a press on one of those buttons? i'd like to 'press' one of them for an initial state so that the list it controls will load first off instead of waiting for the person to click it manually and THEN show the list it's connected to. thing is, the first loaded list is going to be random, so i need to 'press' what on another day/load would be a button that the user would press themselves.
in other words, i have 3 buttons. on random, i have to 'press', say button 2, to start. users can press 1 or 3 and then 2 again if they like. another time, it's button 1 that gets 'pressed' on load, etc. make sense? i have a sneaking suspicion it might be easy... or stupidly convoluted.
I have 6 button call m1-m6...ok my problem is how to disabled button when one of the button being press...and also stt.text will display crrently selected button...coz currently when I press the button it never stated and also 'stt.text ' also show nothing.
I would like to add sounds to a button, so when I roll over it, it plays the sounds. The thing is I would like the sound to be programmed in AS3, not imported like normal.
I'd like the tutorial on randomly loading images to go one step further...Anyone know how to have the images load randomly and have a button that ALSO draws from the images randomly...?
I am making a website, and have 5 loops that I would like to use.I need a button that will change between those 5 loops.I also need a button that will mute and unmute all sounds.
I want to synchronize sounds perfectly to do a kind of Audio Mixer, using different sounds. [URL] does it perfectly, I've been researching and researching and I just don't know how to do it! How does [URL] synchonize audio so perfectly? you can even change sounds and the new ones will come on time! How do I do that? Is it just Action Script? or something else?
Im making a soundboard and I chose AS3 by accident.What I need the code to do is STOP the CURRENT sound from playing if another is pressed. the code that worked for AS1 and AS2 was onMouseDown [code] plays the sound once and messes the sound up after playing for only half a second or not at all.
