ActionScript 2.0 :: Sprite Buttons Are Not Working Once Exported

I have this presentation that I decompiled using sothink. It is originally an swf file made from swishmax. I need to modify contents so I decompiled it to edit on Adobe Flash.. Problem is: some Sprite buttons are not working once exported.. This is a simple question and answer quiz test that once you select on the multiple choice and click the button to check your answer it tells whether your answer is correct or not. I have a flash file I've built with various buttons linked to my website. Strangley, the links work perfectly in live preview (ctrl+enter)
however when I save as a .swf file, export as movie or publish - the links no longer work!

I have a lot of graphics and sounds in my library that are exported for Actionscript in Frame 1. I believe that because of the exported graphics, my preloader will not work. All I get is a white frame while the movie loads. How can you preload graphics that are exported for Actionscript?

What I'm trying to do is export a datagrid to a PDF, which is working fine except that it keeps dropping out the data of the 4th column every time. I've set breakpoints to make sure the data is still there and it shows up but when the PDF is created that whole column has no data in it.

I have a bunch of symbols defined inside of a .fla file which are exported for actionscript -- IE, given a class definition name. In this .fla file, there is one symbol that pretty much contains all of the other symbols. The definition names are basically used to locate each symbol so that I can wrap each symbol with appropriate functionality.Also, sometimes I want to create a new instance of the symbol, so that is nice. Anyway, here is an example of the code that finds children based on their class name, it works nicely:

I'm working through Dreamweaver fairly well, and I'm now wanted to import Flash buttons I've created myself into Dreamweaver for a website I'm currently building, and it's here that I'm finding the problem. I have been to the 'get URL Function', but it says something about needing to link to a web page? But my problem is how can I link Flash Buttons to a web page, when my site is still being developed and not published? Do I have to publish first?

im working on a zoom/pan gallery and i have a problem that i can't solve.URL...the pan buttons are not working but the zoom and reset buttons works. im working on movie the image using the mouse now, if you will hold the image and move it it will drag it on stage.the image is a loader the loads and image and placed on screen.there is a mask on top of it and a frame that indicates the size of the gallery.when the user pan the image loader content i want it to stop as soon as it gets to the gallery frame,but i cant seem to find the best way to do it.so basicly when the image is in 100% i dont want the user to be able to drag it but after you zoom the user will be able to drag it but only to the edge of the frame so there wont be any white spaces.i tried a lot of different ways to do it but all of them are complicated and not working the way that i want them to work.

I've made a simple package that creates a custom textfield and a circle sprite. pressing the circle sprite is supposed to update the textfield text with some sent string. The string is being sent by using a custom event. The problem is, for some reason the script never reaches the function that handles the custom event....why isn't the updateText event firing??

I have three buttons and when I click the second one, the first stops working (e.g. no trace event and it won't go back to the frame "tab1") but the third still works. Then when I press the third button both the first and second no longer work. If I take out the gotoAndStop lines, the buttons work fine. The subsequent frames simply have stops on them.

elow sir I am new here in actionscript and i'm using actionScript 3.0 I need to know what correct code to navigate this. First I have a movieClip from stage in main timeline and i use it as an container for my sprite an instance name of "container_mc" and when that sprite plays after it, it will stop and it will appear a button, I need that button to remove this sprite from the main timeline.

My basic aim is to create a newspaper that consists of four pages. Each page i have created and are sitting in the library as sprites. Each page has buttons that need linking so that when pressed it loads the next page or page that i want. This is the part i am confused with =/ how do i make the buttons on each page load the next page (sprite) from the library??

I created a class, extended the sprite class, and now in the constructor I am trying to set the Sprite's width and height properties which are inherited from the DisplayObject. However, after I set this.width and this.height, and print the values, I get 0 for both.
What the heck is going on? When I view the livedocs I see that DisplayObject has width and height listed as public properties. I have been able to instantiate a Sprite directly, and set the width and height after it's been instantiated, so I don't get it.

I'm doing a simple rotation on a sprite but there's a weird behavior where the sprite does not rotate around it's top left. I think I'm rotating along the top left of the test class instead of the sprite child. I would like to rotate the rectangle around it's top left corner (kinda like a clock hand). The code is pretty short so I'll let the code + pictures explain my problem:

Then the numericStepper is drawn as if it is squished to 20% its normal height. If I pre-set mySprite width and height before adding the numericstepper, the trace output is 0,0 after adding it and it is not displayed at all. Is there some way I can make the sprite only adjust to correctly fit the numericStepper OR resize it afterwards without distorting the numericStepper component?

I've created a movieclip of a trashcan, which falls over and 6 items fall out of it. I want each of these items to become a button, which will jump to a different point on the timeline.
The movieclip is all working fine, and the buttons appear to be fine. The problem is when I publish the flash, the movieclip resets each time I hover over one of the buttons, so i get an endless loop of this trashcan falling over and the items falling out.

I am having problems with buttons stopping to work after i have added some actionscript elsewhere in my timeline. I have a buttons layer which runs across the entire timeline which consists of a Next, Back, Menu and Support button, which all work fine as long as i dont go through the following script on one of the frames.[code]The Submit button has a different instance name than all my other buttons so i am at a loss as to why this has any effect on them.

I am migrating from AS2 to AS3 and realize the button functionality is totally different. I have a website with buttons that have submenus. I have the first layer of buttons working. They have eventListeners attached that take them to a labeled frame on the timeline. When you get to that labeled frame there is a submenu of buttons there. I tried putting the code for those buttons in the same script on frame 1 but it messes up the movie.
I think it has something to do with the buttons not actually being there on frame 1 when the script is read. I cannot figure out where to put the script for the submenu buttons to make them work. I think I have to put a parent type script in there. Sorry I dont even know what to look up.

I've got a movieclip which contains 4 buttons and 4 labels.
The buttons work but once you've been past a label it won't go back to a previous label so it's just linear.
I'm using the following coding:
Buttons: arrow1, arrow2, arrow3, arrow4. And the labels are the same for each.

I have two buttons at the bottom of my animation which should work all the way through the timeline. They work when you click on the chrome icon in the animation, but when you click on either Firefox or any of the other browser thumbnail buttons, the links stop working and nothing happens when you click them?

This seems like such an easy thing to do but it's driving me crazy. Sorry if this is a simple question. In a site I am building it is necessary to have a large movieclip overlaid over an image gallery. This movieclip controls scrolling so has a rollover listener attached, but of course the gallery pictures also need to have button actions. I cannot get them both working at the same time. How can I make it so that rolling over a movieclip doesn't disable the rollover for any movieclips underneath it? Here is a very simple example of the problem.
