I've made a flash anim (photo gallery) feed by an xml.flash anim, the xml file and the pic folder are in the same folder, called ghp_flash.This folder ghp_flash is part of a worpress theme folder.Ok now, when I visualize the theme with wordpress in preview mode, the anim is here, but pictures are not loaded. XML error, path has to be checked![code]I also tried with the ghp_flash folder located at the wordpress root directory, in the wordpress theme...
the same class is passed to the mxmlc compiler in SWF library as a symbol linkage class and again in a source-path. But the compiler uses the definition from the source-path so creating new instance of that class won't create new instance of the library symbol. How do I tell the compiler to prefer the definition linked to the symbol (the one dfrom SWC)?
I have my design assets in an FLA file and they are linked to classes (e.g. [URL]. Then I export those assets to a SWC library and pass it to the compiler. Now when I create an instance of the class (new MyAsset();) it will be a new instance of the library object.
But there are other classes too in the source folder (e.g. "com.myproject.model.*" so I need to pass the source folder to the compiler too. And that is the problem, now the compiler will use the MyAsset.as definition from the source path, not from the SWC where it is assigned to the library object so if I create new instance of MyAsset now it won't duplicate the library object.
So I've created a script where a mc is clicked on and the player can draw a path using the mouse. I'm trying to figure out how I can get the mc to follow the path drawn out by the player's mouse and when the player clicks again, it erases all of the path.my code is below
I am new to Flash and ActionScript 3.0 environment. I don't have any knowledge in depth with Flash and ActionScript 3.0. I am using the flash(.swf file) in my Java application. Now, this .swf file is to be placed in the server system. While I am working with these, I faced an error. Here, my issue/problem(s) starts....
1.)With the help of URLRequest & URLLoader classes, I am loading a jpg file dynamically onto the stage using the following code:
I was wondering if it possible to write up some AS that will take line paths that you have drawn and convert them into a Path object? For example say you drew a jagged line from left to write, would there be a way to have AS convert that into a Path object.
I am displaying some flash content on a fairly standard page. This works really well when the flash, xml file and html page are sitting together in the same directory.url...However, I want to display that same content in another page which is deeper inside the site but outside of the directory that houses the .swf and .xml files as well as the assets.[code]The js files are loading properly but the flash content is not, so I could use a little help getting that sorted out.
I am coming from flash to flashbuilder I have a directory, AS3_classes_dir, on my computer that stores all of my classes, including my greensock and papervision packages. In every flash app that I make I include that directory in the Source Path, so that I can import whatever I may need. Compiling in flash (using ctrl/enter) takes very little time; only the classes that are specifically imported are compiled. So today I did that in flashbuilder, included AS3_classes_dir via Flex Build Path/Source Path ... but now the compile time are a couple of minutes, even though I am not even importing ANY of the classes from within.
I cannot recall where I go to specify the path direct to the FLV file from within Flash after placing the PlayBack component / skin over the movie on the stage. this is the last step before publishing the movie (in order to have embedded in an HTML page)?
I want to have a flash animation on my site. When I insert a "http:..." adress in the field "Data" and "Value" in the code, its completly okay. But when I insert a "~/PATHHERE/FILEHERE.swf" in this fields, it don't function.[code]
I'm not a flash dev, but I'm turning to it to try and meet a requirement. I'm to allow a user to select a file on their computer, then pass it to my web application. I know it's not possible to do this using Javascript, hence wanting to use flash.
I am trying to get the flash buttons for my website to work, but every time I do the getURL thing it keeps saying 'Cannot find(directory)'. The website is offline and I'm using Macromedia Flash MX 2004, I also might be able to use Flash 8 but these are the only two versions I have access to.The action script for the button is:
So I just found out the hard way that the path that Flash uses to load external content is based on the HTML it is embedded in, not the SWF itself. This is a problem for me because I have the HTML generated from a PHP file that is in a folder below the SWF. The PHP has other dependencies that would break if I moved it into the same folder as the SWF.So basically now my dev testing and web versions are separated by a folder. Is there a way to change the relative path Flash uses? Or am I going to have to hack things up?
I'm adding several instances of an MC (bread_mc) into a container MC (wall_mc). wall_mc has been added to a shop class and that is where i'm called the rest of my functions from. Also the wall_mc is scrolled left and right with mouseX & mouseY values. I've set up a function to add the bread_mc to the wall at different x/y positions.
[Code]...
I really don't even know if i'm using it right, But I think my problem lies in the fact that I need the currMC path to travel up the display list tree and get the global stage X/Y position. I'm not too sure how to implement a dynamic path with the localToGlobal method.
I am playing around with ActionScript 3 and trying to build a very simple prototype for a video game (top-down action/shooter) and realized that handling bullets is a little bit more challenging than I originally imagined.
In order to get a fairly decent "flight" of the bullet between the character and the target, I ended up using a highly modified version of Bresenham's Line Algorithm to determine the flight path of the bullet and then merely draw a tiny flash.geom.Rectangle object at the appropriate place on that "flight path" during the draw-frame stage of my application.
I haven't noticed any real problems, but I just can't imagine this being the best way to handle bullets in a Flash game. I imagine that once there are multiple enemy players on the screen and lots of bullets flying around (especially once I code in automatic weapons) that things could come grinding to a halt.
What am I missing here? I'm not really a game developer and so most of the things I'm doing I've just "made up" on the spot, but I can't figure out how to effectively handle bullets in Flash.
EDIT: As requested, here is "my" Bresenham code. I say "my" in quotes, because I basically ripped this from somewhere on the internet. My changes to the algorithm basically involve the lines at the bottom. The original implementation would find the path from player character to the target, except that every once in a while (and I wasted a little bit of time trying to figure this out but never got anywhere) it will generate the path from the target to the player. To "fix" this, I ended up just checking the first X/Y values from the path array and reversing the array if those values didn't match the X/Y values of my player character.
I'm using a URLLoader to load a photo and I want to be able to display the filename of the photo based on the URLLoader's loaderInfo.url property.Given a loader named photoLoader, what the string called fileName be?

I'm trying to find a way to lock a MC (or any other instance) to a path. Best way to describe what I want to do is ... imagine there's a drawn out rail track (the path), and at the press of a button a train (MC) will constantly move along the path until the button is pressed again.
I have to have relative paths to the sound file assets but for some reason when I change them they are all absolute. Even when the file is in the same directory as the .fla.How can I change the path to sounds in flash to relative?
I use Flash CS3 primarily for drawing. I'm a freelance cartoonist and I love Flash for it's drawing tools. Flash seems to only have the ability to create text horizontally or vertically. Other than creating the text in Photoshop or Illustrator, is there a way to create warped or path oriented text directly in Flash? that will perform the same way photoshop or illustrator does with text options? Below is an example of the functions in Photoshop and Illustrator that I'd like to perform in Flash.
I've downloaded the tweener.swc from their google project page I create my fla file put it in a folder and put in the same folder the tweener.swc file.
I go to ActionScript settings > Library path > hit the + button > I type the relative path which should be just tweener.swc or not sure but just a dot (.) or / to get all the classes and libraries from the same folder in which the fla is located.
But it says it can't load the swc or my imports don't find the classes.
When I drag and drop images in flash library, the path is sometimes relative (./somefolder/someimage.png), and sometimes it is absolute (D:lahsomefoldersomeimage.png).
How can I use only relative paths in flash library in order to be able to update all images from any computer and/or from any folder ?
I can get the videos to play using the flvplauer component, but im having a little trouble figuring out if and how to dynamically change the path of the flvplayer while running through a timeline. If I can do something like mc.changeFLVPath that would be awesome!
