ActionScript 2.0 :: Build A Presentation By Calling External .swfs Inside The .fla Document?

Feb 24, 2005

loadMovieNum("icon1.swf", target1_mc);

I am trying to build a presentation by calling external .swfs inside the .fla document.

By clicking a button I want to load an .swf (800 x 600) from the desktop into a target_mc inside a new flash document.

The problem is that once I press the button to load the .swf, instead of loading it into the target_mc, Internet Explorer pos up with a statement saying " To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this file from showing active content that could access your computer. Click here for options..." Once I click the options link, a new link appears "Allow Blocked Content". once I press it the .swf file loads into the Internet Explorer window full screen.

I want the .swf to load into the mc I am specifying INSIDE the flash document, not on the browser.

ActionScript 2.0 :: How To Build Transitions Between External SWFs

Aug 22, 2004

I'm using Flash MX 2004. I have a main file called Main_En.swf, which contains the empty movie clip container (_EN is for English, because I'll have multiple languages eventually). Upon loading, Main_En.swf calls Welcome_EN.swf into the container. So far, no problems.

Main_EN.swf contains a movie clip symbol named "navigation," inside which are the buttons that will call the other swfs (Links_EN.swf, Stories_EN.swf, etc.). That's the rub: The swfs won't load. I thought maybe it was because of the individual swf's pre-loader code (also made from one of Kirupa.com's tutorial) but I tried without it and the movies still failed to load.

Here is the Action Script associated with one of the buttons.
//Loads movie
on (release) {
if (_root.currMovie == undefined) {
_root.currMovie = "Links_EN";
container.loadMovie("Links_EN.swf");
[Code] ....

This code is at the midframe:
stop();
And this code is on the last frame:
_root.container.loadMovie(_root.currMovie+".swf")

ActionScript 2.0 :: Flash On Cd Calling External Swfs Preloading?

Apr 27, 2005

i've created a project that i'm putting on cd-rom. this project calls some externals swf files. everything was working lovely until i tried it from the cd. all the called swf files are running way slow and it's just a mess.so i'm trying to figure out preloading to see if that will help. i used some script i found in a thread by Scotty, and looks like the external swfs preloaded okay. and i put a stop() on the first frame of each of the external swfs so they will not play immediately. but now i'm trying to call the swfs when i need them by using a gotoAndPlay(frame) and don't know what i'm doing wrong. i need to have these swfs not play on preload but when i call them, either by EnterFrame or onPress.[code]as an aside to this, some of the forums i've been reading say it's just bad to try doing all this with flash on a cd, that i should try rolling it into director. yowza, haven't touched director in a few years..

ActionScript 3.0 :: Load External SWFs - Parent Document Which Essentially Loads One Of The Ten Child Documents Onto The Respective Key Frame

Apr 29, 2011

I've got this interactive poem I've been working on for a class. I've basically finished each "episode" seperately. I made a parent document which essentially loads one of the ten child documents onto the respective key frame. Here's a sample of the code for the first key frame of the parent document:

stop();
import flash.net.URLRequest;
import flash.display.MovieClip;
import flash.events.Event;
stage.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, LoadSWF2);
[Code]....

Well Two things are messed up about it, well my "ChildTimeline2" variable will off and on assosciate itslef not with the main time line of a child document, but of a nested symbol inside said child document. Even worse, the "gotoAndStop();" command I will give sometimes applies to Parent document... yaay! but often it will apply to the child document. The end result being this horrible looping moment where you are stuck in one child document for all time.

I wish I could attach the documents but they exceed the 300KB. how I can get Actionscript to listen fro the last frame of the maintimeline of the child document, or tell flash to gotoandStop for the parent document

This is my first time working with As3 and im a bit lost, everything is so different from the old good As2... what im trying to achieve is to create a simple virtual tour, i have a map with a few buttons on it that when clicked should lead to a panoramic swf that contains a picture of that particular place in the map. I already have the map and the panoramic swfs. But im clueless as to how to actually put them all together in one document. I tried by using this method but for some reason that loads just the panorama swf and not the picture inside it.

Jan 29, 2012

i've been trying to make a presentation which is build out of several animations located on the main timeline.I wanted to use frame labels to navigate back and forth in the timeline, so I created back/next buttons and used switch/case code on them based on the frame labels.each animation has a label and a stop(); command at the end of it, right before the next animation.the code for the next button looks like this:

next_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, click_handler);
function click_handler(event_object:MouseEvent)
{

[code]....

problem is at some point it stops working. i've added the "default: play();" code to try and fix it but it only goes so far.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Flash8 - Buttons Inside Multiple Random External Swfs

May 23, 2008

detailed as possible. Took basic Flash classes, but no AS other than searching online, taking a couple Kirupa tutorials, so it's all greek tho recognizably so. I have 10 individual "scenes" currently in one swf file, but would love to break these apart individually, and load each into a "container" swf with a "random" code (so each visit to my site starts differently) which I've located and tested with Kirupa's super "Loading random movies" tutorial. Question is: currently I have active buttons in each scene which advance playhead to the next scene. How can I code these to load another swf into the main "container" file and kill/replace the current swf?

Another tutorial "Transitions between external swfs" suggests "if your buttons are not located on the main timeline, you will have to change the path to the container movieclip" - but doesn't show exactly how to do this, and I have to say I can't figure the "path" out! Another issue I foresee is that I'll need the script to automatically pull in the next swf file when the current one finishes, if the visitor doesn't click the button first... Haven't been able to find this with a few hours searching, though some threads come close.

IDE :: Transitions Between External SWFs / Close Button For External Swfs

Aug 15, 2005

I recently created a site using the "Transitions between External SWFs" tutorial for Flash MX 2004. I use this to load the sections of my site into the main movie file. Each section is an External SWF file. When a viewer clicks on a navigation button, the specific external swf move will load and play. Currently, a viewer would need to click on another navigation option to close the current external swf file. I would like to add a close button to each of the external swfs so that a view has the option to close the window without clicking on a naviagtion link.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Build Complex Animation With Tweens Or After Effects SWFs?

Jul 3, 2009

I found myself wondering whether it would be wiser for a person to construct complex animations (using multiple eases, transparency effects etc) in flash using the tween systems, or rather to create it in software like After Effects and export SWFs with transparency. I would imagine that for short, but complex animations, AE would be best because of the small SWF size of fewer frames being rendered. Another wonder I have would be whether creating complex tweens on a Flash timeline, then converting them to AS3 would be a processing nightmare. Should Tweens be restricted to simple tasks? Would anybody like to take a speculative 'stab' at the pros and cons of each method?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Auto-incremental Generate A Build Number For Swfs?

May 20, 2010

Is there a way to automatically generate a build number for my swfs? Ideally, this should be available as a variable so it can be shown when the application or module runs, and should increment whenever I click save or build or debug. I've seen vague references to ANT being able to handle this, but have no clue how to implement that functionality into either Flash or Flex Builder... I'd assume an XML or TXT file somehow gets updated via ANT and would then be compiled into the swf???

ActionScript 3.0 :: Build An AIR App To Convert A Group Of Png Images In My Desktop To SWFs?

Oct 13, 2009

I'm trying to build an AIR app to convert a group of png images in my desktop to SWFs.So far I can do that using PNGEncoder to convert the loaded images into a byteArray and then using another ByteArray to generate the swf.The problem is I want to compress the images as well and PNGEncoder class doesn't support compression. I triyed with JPGEncoder, which supports compression, but it wont support transparency.

What I'm trying to do is something like the properties menu in the Flash IDE where you can select a png and apply a jpg compression to it. And when you export the png's transparency is preserved.The point of this is so is easy to convert, lets say, 100 pngs into swfs (without having to load each one of them into flash, adjust document size, export, ...)

I don't want any to load until the button is clicked for the right one. MouseEvent listener works but only after all the swfs have loaded. How do I get the swfs to load only when the buttons are clicked. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Loading An XML Document That Contains Properties About "slides" In A Presentation

May 27, 2009

I'm loading an XML document that contains properties about "slides" in a presentation. When the XML loads each slide builds as an object with it's params. Everything works perfect except now I need to add graphics, instead of just text, to the stage based on the slide object params. I have an object in the library being exported as "StateMap". In my xml params of the slide it's name is StateMap. How can I convert the string StateMap into a display object and then add it to the stage?

So if Slide 1B has 4 lines of text and an image from the library, I want to build the 4 lines on the stage and then place the image on the stage. The image is exported for actionscript in the library but I cannot get the xml to store a name or reference and figure out how flash converts that to a display object.

Use Of An External .txt In Presentation?

Oct 19, 2007

I'm creating a presentation for a client and in this presentation I need a lead up page which has a series of editable text fields, and I'm not quite sure where to start.

1. There is to be a field where the client can punch in thier number and it will bring up information which is stored in an external database (Excel?), if they don't know their number however, they then have the option of filling it out manually. I then need this to immediately create a new .txt file which will become this customers reference (provided one doesn't already exist).

2. Any information that is edited during the session needs to be able to be SAVED to an external .txt file (as above), which can then be called upon if the same client (number) is typed into the field mentioned above.

3. The presentation then moves on to a customisable shopfit, where the client decides how they want their shop to look (this part is already complete and tested and works fine). However, at present I have a print button which the customer can select and it will print out their options, but it has been requested (as I think the reps like to leave their printers in their other suit jackets) that I have an email option, this needs to email the picture (which normally gets printed) AND the information which was entered into the customer reference page.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Calling The Random SWFs?

var swfLoader:Loader = new Loader();
swfLoader.x = 12;
var swfURL:String = "b2bAnim1.swf"

ActionScript 3.0 :: Calling File Names From An XML Document

Aug 12, 2009

I've calling file names from an XML document, for example: <file>thisGraphicab.swf</file> Then when I call the graphic, the graphic with the matching file name does not exist, but similar named files do exist. For example: thisGraphicab does not exist but thisGraphicbb does exist. Flash will load the thisGraphicbb.swf file in place of the file actually called.

Is there a way to remedy this? I want flash to fail when the file requested does not exist. When you type the name graphics/thisGraphicab.swf into the browser address bar, the file name is changed by the browser to be thisGraphicbb.swf, and it displays, but here again I need it to fail when something like this happens. I know this seems odd, but there's more to it in the end. Anyway, this is what I need to take care of now.
