ActionScript 2.0 :: Dragging A Nested MC Around Global Stage?

I have a simple popup dialog box which exists in a movieclip within the timeline of a loaded movie. I would like to be able to drag this dialog within the bounds of the parent movie (i.e. global stage) and not be confined to the dialogs parent clip and ultimately parent movie.
Within my dialog_mc I have a clip called drag_mc which the user clicks to drag dialog (the specifics are below)

If -- draggable -- moivieClip_A is created, and then moivieCLip_B is created as a child of movieClip_A, (when movieClip_A is dragged onPress, movieClip_B simultaneously moves with it), is it possible to change a property of movieClip_B with a mouse event? Seems as though movieClip_A's layer position / mouse events are blocking mouse events for movieClip_B.

Let me try my best to explain this... On the stage I have a master movieclip, for explanation purposes, let's call this movieclip "body". Nested inside of body are several other movieclips (we'll call them anatomy items like: arm, hair, foot, etc) Now let's say we scaled body to 200% (body.scaleX = body.scaleY = 2.0)
When I run localToGlobal on one of the nested anatomy movieclips (e.g. arm), actionscript is returning the x and y values of the initial state, not reflecting the scale of body and how it actually caused the arm's position to shift globally.

I have a MovieClip ("mc3" that moves dynamically) inside of a MovieClip ("mc2" that moves dynamically) that is on the stage ("stage" that is static). I need to find the value of mc3's x in relation to the stage? I need to make it into a variable. I am trying to do the math, can't figure it out. Also tried localToGlobal and failed.

I have created an animation (see attached) where the stage can be dragged from left to right to reveal hidden areas off the edge of the stage. Unfortunately I need to add buttons containing links to websites within the dragable movie symbol and I can't work out how to do it.

I have a frame-by-frame animation. I want to be able to click and drag on the stage back and forth and traverse through the animation. I.e. I want to click and drag from left to right to make the animation go forwards and right to left to make the animation go backwards. How would I achieve this? I am making an assumption that there will be some maths involved in calculating mouse position and traversing to the correct frame, but how would I do this?

I have a movieclip I'm dragging and dropping. When I drag the clip outside of the stage, it gets stuck in drag mode and when I bring the cursor back onto the stage it suddenly snaps back onto the cursors position and it continues to drag (basically screwing up my drag and drop sequence). What I'd like is for the clip to stop dragging and snap back to its original X and Y position whenever you drag it outside the SWFs stage. I tried to achieve this by adding a listener to the stage to listen for a MOUSE_UP event when the drag begins. But its not working and I keep getting errors.
Here is my code, it's all contained in a document class:

Which I don't understand because dropClip isn't a property its a function. If anyone can explain how I need to modify my code to make the clip stop dragging or if I can constrain the drag so you can't drag it outside the stage in the first place that could perhaps work as well.

What is the difference between dragging a movieClip to stage from the user interface and inserting it from code? What I mean is....I noticed that if I drag a movie clip from the library to the stage, give it an instance name ('xx'), I can access it from code using "this.xx". However, if I add the movieClip from code using:
var ch = new MovieClip();
ch.name = 'xx';
addChild(ch);
I cannot access it using this.xx, but I have to access it using this.getChildByName('xx');

Everytime I'm trying to drag an image from the library to the stage, the program crashes. I've been sending the crash logs to Adobe many times, but never got any solution from them.
In the log there a line that says:
<crash exception="EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION" instruction="0x0c4feb66>
I'm working with 10.0.2, I thought the latest update will fix that, but it doesn't. Changing the UI from Essential to Classic doesn't help

startDrag(); seems to stop dragging once the mouse leaves the stage. Is there a way to set it to still drag when off the stage. The exhaustive search I've tried only says things about capture the event for the mouse leaving the stage, not continue any dragging or animation, etc. In more detail, I have a "flashlight" type sprite that covers everything with black, and allows the user to see a small circle of stage. The center of the circle is where the mouse is. When the mouse goes over the edge, half of the circle (or more depending on how fast the mouse moved) is still visible. I need it to at least move off stage completely.

I've got a Global variable here in my flash project, which is stated like this,
_global.swfloaded = "home";
This variable then changes throughout the project, depending on what buttons are pushed. One example of the change is when a button labelled Classic is clicked, taking the user to the Classic page, the variable is changed like this -
swfloaded = "classic";
I then have a dynamic text field with the instance name of 'output' on the stage, which I want to display the variable, the code I've used for that is -
output.text = swfloaded;
The problem is the 'output' field doesn't update at all, no matter what is clicked. How I can quickly and easily get the field to update when the global variable itself is changed.

I have this movie clip on a stage that I need everything to be center on stage even after resize.the clip structure is rootclip.child.child.the first time I click the button the tween works fine. If you click a second time the clips start start to drift away from center stage. And if I resize the stage everything seem to fall apart. the 203.5 is half the width of the MC that I'm trying to center. So it's total width is 407px.

is it possible for flash to detect off-stage mouse coordinates in order to continuously drag an object within its bounds while the mouse is moving outside of the stage? for example: i have a draggable red square on my stage. the stage is the bounds of the drag. if i drag the red square to the bottom of the stage and continue to drag outside of and around the stage, i'd like the red square to continue moving within it's bounds, following the mouse coordinates. currently, dragging halts as soon as i leave the stage and the red square only begins to move with the mouse coordinates if i reenter the stage bounds.

My problem is that when I load this swf into another one it won't run and I get the error://Renderer (WARNING) :: startEnterFrame :: Unable to add a listener to the enter frame event because a global stage reference does not exist.The animation classes require that I add a global stage reference and I have added that in my main App class that is the document class in my animation swf like this:AS]import com.boostworthy.core.Global;Global.stage = stage;[/AS]This works fine when the swf runs on its own but when I load it into another movie I get the error mentioned above. I've tried setting this reference in different classes (my animation swf uses a number of classes) but no dice. I have a .as file with a load of functions that i include using : include "myFunctions.as".They can be accessed alright.I have a custom class that extends movieclip, and i want to use a function inside that class that is located in my "myFunctions.as" file.How do i do that? Seems like the class loads before the myFunctions.as file so the functions are unavailable at this time. I get that error message :

After quite some time I finally decided to pick up Flash again, this time taking the OOP route. I'm a bit rusty though, so I'm stuck on something pretty basic.Here's my Layout of relevant objects and scripts:
Stage > gunAmmo (TextField)
Stage > player (MC) > pistol (MC)
........ > player.as > pistol.as
As you might've guessed, what I'm trying to do is set the gunAmmo.text property from within my pistol class. I've tried using MovieClip(root).gunAmmo, stage, etc., but neither seems to be working. I sort of get why, but I don't know what the correct syntax is. (And yes, the TF's instance name has been set correctly.

I have a master MC that's added to the stage via addChild(p2_mc). Inside that p2_mc, I have others MC'S (added to the stage manually, not via addChild). One of them is instanced fond_mc. I want to position that fond_mc in the middle of the stage using that line of code WHEN the stage is resized. Obviously, the following line is into the resize function:
fond_mc.x = stage.stageWidth/2;
I works but returning faulty results because it uses left corner of the mc instead of registration point, which is top and center. I tried all math formula I could think of to no results. Keeps positioning the fond_mc wrongly. I know this is related to registration OR stage measurement. Is there a way to reset stage.stageWidth values INSIDE the resize function?

The checking the data given in frame 3 is correct
What my couse it not to show? is there a way to debug the clip it self the? _x _y _width _height on the debugger has correct values for all clips as expected but the clip is not on the stage why?

I have a picture of a mine which is nested within an object, nested within another object. Now what I want it that on the keypress of shift, I created mine image at the same position of the tank. The issue is that the main object that is nesting the mine moves, thus not creating at the the center, rather on that position of the object.
Here are how my images go by instance names;
1. Tank Stays in the center

I have a class that adds to the main stage fine, but not inside an MC

mContent01.addChild(issSlider); //trace says undefined
addChild(issSlider);//trace says [object SliderTestClass]
Why would it refused to be added to mContent01 which is a visible MC on the stage?
