I'm trying to use a loadMovie function inside a loop to load external PNG files when my game is loaded. Unfortunately, I can't get even a single loadMovie to work correctly, much less execute a bunch of them.The code is on the root time line, and is targetting an empty movie clip that is nested inside about 3 levels. There is a button, with a movie clip on it, and the empty clip I'm trying to load into on that.so the full target path is myBox_00.smallBox.myLogo(myBox_00 is the button, smallBox is the movie clip, and myLogo is the empty)[code].I even tried using a JPG image instead of a PNG and still no luck. The best I could do was number 4; and that didn't work, all it did was SOMETHING instead of NOTHING... unfortunately that something was to make the button (myBox_00) disappear entirely T_T.I've never had much luck with loading external images. What am I missing here?
I'm externally loading text from a .txt file. I need to format that file using CSS. I've got the CSS file set up and everything. I've tried every tutorial I can find to try and load the CSS, but nothing is working.Here is the script for loading the text:
var textLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();var textReq:URLRequest = new URLRequest("content_files/commissions.txt"); textLoader.load(textReq);textLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, textLoadComplete);
I am working on an isometric engine called IsoEngine in AS3. I need to duplicate an swf externally loaded. The problem is that after being loaded and duplicated the resulting movieClip lose all its embedded actionScript. Therefore a clip containing 2 or more frames will loop infinitely regardless the stop() that you would have put on the targeted swf fileI am using the following function to duplicate my swf loaded:
var targetClass:Class = Object(loader.content).constructor; var duplicateisplayObject = new targetClass();
I have a swf that gets XML of a location of another swf and loads it. It then casts the loader's content as a movie clip and adds it to the stage. I have that working fine, but how can I control the timeline of the loaded swf?
I'm currently having a little trouble in a project where I have the following occuring: Code: preloader.swf --- loads 2x --- homepage.swf --- can load --- products.swf
When the products.swf is loaded, the starting animation occurs as expected and is displayed on the screen without an issue. However, I can't interact with any of the buttons contained in the products.swf. The products page works like an overlay over the top, and the homepage.swf contains an background which can be clicked on to close the overlay. If you click on the products.swf it reacts as if the background was clicked, which it shouldnt as the products.swf is located on top of the background.
I have already checked the obvious parts, and am ensuring that products.swf is located at numChildren-1, so nothing is getting in the way. The catch is that everything was working fine when the code was internal to the fla, and now as soon as I moved the code to an external .as file nothing works. I am using the same way of loading the products.swf as I am loading the homepage.swf, which looks like:
Code: var productsLoader:Loader = new Loader(); productsLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onProductsCompleteHandler); productsLoader.load(new URLRequest("products.swf")); onProductsCompleteHandler: [Code] .....
I need to determine when the first swf has finished to load the second and so goes on but I couldnt find a way to even trace de current frame in the timeline of my external swf.How can i determine the current frame in the timeline of a external swf?even with a enter frame event to check the current frame has not workedIve even build up a class to give the parameters to the main SWF but has not worked.I need to compare the current frame with the total frame and when got the last frame, and the end of the animation, unload this first movie and load the second.
I'm about to start a project where there will be a Flash application where the visitor customizes a profile with externally loaded images and texts. Then the visitor needs to be able to download that profile as a dynamically created swf with all that external content baked into the swf.
I want to load an external swf and dynamically attach the mc's in the loaded swf to the main movie. Is it possible to reference the linkage properties of the externally loaded swf in this way?
I'm trying to implement this for an instance of ComboBox specifically, which uses a List to display the dropdown menu full of items. Lists can have icons associated with them, as described in the documentation:
var comboBox = addChild(new ComboBox()); comboBox.dataProvider = new DataProvider([{label:'item1',iconClass:IconClass1},{label:'item2',iconClass:IconClass2}]); comboBox.dropdown.iconField = 'iconClass';
... assuming IconClass1 and IconClass2 are valid classnames of symbols in our library, this code works perfectly.
Here's my question - the contents of this ComboBox will be XML-driven, populated dynamically, and I'd really rather include that icon reference as a filename instead of a classname, so that when the whole thing is implemented, the icon can be changed in the XML without opening Flash and adding a new symbol to the library. Clients aren't generally good at that sort of thing.
Ideally, I'd like to be able to find a way to reference the container for the instance of that icon class - the ComboBox.dropdown is obviously keeping a reference to each list item somewhere, and if I can find it, I can load the icon images dynamically, then addChild them to the icon instance.
I've managed to use AS to dynamically create empty movie clips and offset them so that they appear side by side. The problem is, I can't use loadMovie to load in images into my empty movie clips. I can successfully use loadMovie outside of my for loop, by directly referencing each of the dynamically created clips (holder_mc1.loadMovie(...),older_mc2.loadMovie(...),etc) after they have been created. This is ok but I really need to create and fill the empty movie clips within a single for loop. By the way, the references to the images being loaded are contained within an external text file, but this doesn't seem to be part of the problem. Does anybody know if there is a problem using loadMovie in this way or if there is anything I can do to fix the problem?
I need do load an JPG dynamically. The URL is variable pase by Javascript.So... I have do create de variable in the JS e send it fo Flash.I'm getting this variable already. Using swfLiveconnect, and in the javascript the method SetVariable(var,value); I'm changing de value of the var. I can chage textfields, but the method loadMovie isn't working, by putting de URL param as the variable I get from javascript.Here goes the code I'm using:
HTML
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> <html> <head>[code].....
I'm loading many movies in a moan movie into mc instance name "movieHolder" I need something to happen only IF the first movie is not loaded. How can I check WHAT movie is currently loaded in movieHolder?
I'm loading multiple instances of the same jpg dynamically to my swf. It works just fine locally, but when I upload it, it only executes the first loading code it encounters in the timeline. I was doing things fairly complexly with 'for' loops and dynamic name generation and stuff, but I've stripped it down to the basics in an effort to get this to work.
as you can see, I'm using two different methods of loading the jpgs, just in an effort to pin down exactly what is going on. Locally, they all load fine. When I upload to the server, only the first instance of the loading code is run (so mc1 will get its jpg, but the rest won't). I've tried to swap the order, place the loading code in different areas, try to load different jpgs into each empty mc, but nothing works except that first instance flash gets to in the timeline.
The swf and jpgs are all in the same folder, both locally and on the server. The server the swf is hosted on is Windows 2003 box if that matters. I tried uploading it to a different windows box and got the same problem.
I'm trying to use .loadMovie to load a .swf that contains a high res background image for the website. I want it to load hidden behind a layer of black before the user is even presented with the oportunity to move forward.
Is it possible to put somthing like this on the first frame (a black screen)...
-would it be possible to set the _x and _y of image.jpg relative to myMC?You see moving myMC and then loading the picture into it will not me because myMC is to be scaled and manipulated, so its axis must be in the center of the loaded image.
My problem: I am attaching variable number of MCs dynamically(not in the library), and i have to do so using flash6 or older. How can i use then loadMovie+onClipEvent handler to invoke something, if i am attaching MCs dynamically, and onClipEvent works only on MCs attached on the Stage(actions "on" those mcs, not "inside" them). Probably using classes. Any other option? and if not, can anybody guide me through assigning such class to such mc? EDIT: Ok, i also have done following:
[Code]....
and although the movieClip IS in library, and it DOES have MovieClip class assigned, onData event handler is NOT triggered and nothing is traced. Can the reason be "attachMovie" function?
EDIT2: aha. well, again it happened that attachMovie's methods are not yet initialized, so it was not yet "the proper time to assign" handler onData on those MCs. [only sen knows why ]. So that even trace(mc.stop()); at this point traces undefined, where it should trace [type Function], since stop is MovieClip's class method. Stupidstupidstupid.. relax...
The whole problem is in the title. I have a gallery which looks a lot like coverflow. Each button in it loads a new gallery which is a swf with a new XML. The Problem is it only works on the first time i click on a button. The XML does not renew when i click on another button. It does load the new XML.
I have a flash document that is calling an .swf file into a movie clip via the .loadmovie command. The .swf plays all the way through in the movie clip, but it has problems with the "play again" button at the end. It is not letting go of all the actions from the first play and doesn't reload properly. The .swf restarts perfectly by itself, it uses this code to replay:
on(release){ _root.gotoAndPlay(1); }
but once the .swf is loaded into the main flash file, the "play again" button doesn't work anymore.
I can apply to the button at the end of the .swf that will allow it to replay when it is loaded into the movieclip in the main .fla file?
Im using loadMovie within a .swf on level 1 to load an external movie into level 2. But when this happens the sound function doesnt work. The 2nd movie being loaded has the newsound defined and everything within itself. It plays if i run that swf seperately or using ctrl+enter. Yet when the 1st movie calls the 2nd movie onto level 1 at runtime.The sound in the 2nd movie doesnt play. But its button sounds all seem to be working.
I haven't been able to find documentation on why loaded movies via 'loadMovie' into another movie clip don't seem to obey onEnterFrame commands. The following code represents a movie clip, 'container', which has a loaded external .swf file, 'box.swf'.
I have set the container to begin a decreasing alpha change. I've also added a trace to see if the onEnterFrame is performing at all. What happens is that the box does not appear to have an alpha change. There is, however, a trace that returns an output of '100' only. But no other numbers, suggesting that the command has stopped.
// Start container.loadMovie("box.swf"); container.onEnterFrame = function () {
I have this movie [URL] its for a mates building company ok here is my problem (i will explain it to the best of my abilites) i have 3 buttons which each load 1 seperate SWF into an empty movie clip eg. servicesbutton loads services.swf into contentsMC that is fine that is working fine my problem occurs when the loaded movie button is clicked on again... it resets the loaded SWF back to frame 1... how can i make the loadmove command abit more cleverer? like dont load the movie if its already loaded?

but i just can't figure it out. I've made a website in flash, with a button. The purpose is when you click one button, a portfolio will open. This portfolio is xml driven and i've got the FLA file and the SWF file.
But.. when i put the portfolio FLA file in my website timeline it won't work, and when i try to use the SWF file instead and connect it to the button using AS2.. it won't work at all. The last option i used the following AS2 codes and put the code on the button frame.. that didn't work (not at the same time offcourse ):
[Code]...
This last code did work.. but for some strange reason this last code loaded the SWF again and again...
Is there someone who knows what i'm doing wrong? I just want that the portfolio opens when you click on the button.. and opens in a container with certains measures.
Essentially, I've got a MC container that's created dynamically based off an XML file (basically for every <title></title> I've got, it makes a new "card"). Now within the context of each <title></title> grouping I've got <imgs></imgs> in which I specify the path to images that are related.All of that works perfectly, save for the external jpg files actually appearing on the stage. The MC I add them to does, but the external image doesn't.My problem is- I can't add the external images until they're completely loaded (or so it appears). The thumbnail BG I use is blank. So I know for a fact that the thumbnail BG isn't occluding the loaded thumbnails.
My header is an mc with buttons that load swf's into a main content mc with this:on (release) { loadMovie("myswf.swf", _root.holder); and that works perfectly (content loads into mc with no page refresh).But..one of my loaded swf's has the same button code on a button to load swf's into the same mc and I get a page refresh.
