ActionScript 2.0 :: Each Of The Tiny Things Separate Movieclips That Move With Relation To The Mouse?

Could anybody point me to the right direction on how to do the background for [URL]? Is each of the tiny things seperate movieclips that move with relation to the mouse? I want to understand how it works since it seems to work efficiently and doesn't have any slowdown.

The menu works as follows: My stage is 960px wide. On the stage there is a holding MC called container_mc which is 1900px wide. Within this holding MC there are 6 buttons which fill up the entire dimensions of the MC. This container_mc sits on the stage and the sure can click and drag this container about horizontally thus revealing all of the buttons. When they click it opens up a box. When the box is closed the menu comes back. All of this works perfectly.
I am now trying to integrate a movieclip, lets call it markermc that sits underneath the container_mc on the stage. Now, as the menu is dragged i want this markermc to move relative to the container_mc. So if the container_mc is being dragged left, at the same time i want the markermc to move right or if the container_mc is being dragged right then the markermc needs to move left. The reason i want this is because it will give a visual clue as to where you are on the menu. A working example of this can be seen at [url]...
The container_mc's starting X position is 20px on the stage. This is the same starting position for the markermc. The container_mc can be dragged as far as -960px for its X position. When the container_mc is at this point, then the marker MC needs to be at 960px. Basically i am trying to get the markermc to move inversely to the container_mc.[code]...

I have a stack of images that I need to move down when the mouse is above y = 250 and up when the mouse is below y = 250. I have this code, but the problem is I don't know how to add easing.

If mouse position X is between 0 and 100 play "sound1"
When mouse leaves these co-ordinates stop playing sound instantly
If mouse position X is between 101 and 200 play "sound2"
When mouse leaves these co-ordinates stop playing sound instantly
If mouse position X is between 201 and 300 play "sound 3"
When mouse leaves these co-ordinates stop playing sound instantly
And then
If mouse y position is between 1 and 50 volume = 50%
If mouse y position is between 51 and 100 volume = 100%

I have some code which moves back and forth through my menu so that it scrolls in relation to where the mouse is on teh screen. The problem is that I cant get it to scroll smoothly and is a little jerky... I want to ass maybe some smoothness or maybe a little lag to it so it just seems more smooth. I have pasted the main code I have so far below.. I am using AS3 at the moment.

I have a movie clip that follows the mouse..
Its not done yet but its gonna be a dog chasing a/the mouse...
I want to have it where the if the mouse is left or right of the following movie clip it shows it walking toward the mouse... so something like
if mouse positions is less the the cursor + 10 (pixels) goto and play frame with dog walking left and one for right up down (I want this to walk till its directly under or over mouse and then laydown or jump only when over or under mouse..
(say its a 20 pixel wide object and 10 on each side will cover the whole thing and not just the exact center pixel, thats what the 10 + movie clip position is for, but Is there a way to tell it to goto and play whatever_frame when mouse is left of any graphic on the sitting dog section??? like the equivalent of onRollLeft or whatever.)

I already created the shapes and placed them in the appropriate frames.. you should only need to mess with the actions on the instance "detail" (the dog face in frame 1 of scene 1 in layer "follower" ---- just the actionscript needed for that instance is needed in the reply.. you should not need to chage any of the layers, but if you do just tell me what you did and why.

I'm making a platform game where all of my level components (ground, background etc.) are within an array called 'levelArray' so I can move all the elements the same amount at the same time. so i've been following this tutorial on youtube about buttons and how to make them trigger certain things using AS3 Anyway, here's my code:

What suppose to happen is when i mouse over the button, some things appear, when the hover is off, everything goes back to normal The problem: When i mouse over the button, everything start blinking and the "some things" start appearing and disappearing while i hover over the button. When i remove aOut event and function - everything works like it should - "some things" appear when the button is hovered and stay there because there's no aOut code.
Tested the same thing using MouseEvent.CLICK instead of MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER. When it's just by itself - works fine. I clicked the button and things appear. But when I add MouseEvent.MOUSE_OUT, nothing happens at all. The button becomes unclickable.

In my game, Ive got a HUD, (heads up display, life bar, points scorer etc...) and when an enemy comes onto the stage, the lifebar is appearing behind everything else, and it should really be the thing that's infront of everything else. Is there like a line of code and a function or variable I should declare or import that allows me to create depth and put my lifebar at the front.

i have two seperate movie clips on two seperate layers on the front page of my template. (loaded dynamically) the layers are on top of one another.
the two movie clips work fine one their own on the template, but when i put them both on the template and I press their respective buttons the TOP movieclip's buttons control the BOTTOM movie clips actions. it's crazy. i've tried to move them around but then it's just the reversed - the bottom buttons control the top movieclip.

I have several Movie Clips in the Library which I need to be able to load and bring up on the screen randomly.The code below shows how I can load one of these, but to get a proper control ideally I would like to load them all in to an array or numbered variables so that they can be called from a simple piece of code and actioned one at a time.
My movieclips can all be called something simple like mc1, mc2, mc3, mc4 etc to make things easier.These need to be referenced in to an array mcContainer[.....] or as mcContainer1, mcContainer2........ so that they can be called easily.I just need to know the simplest way to do this and how i reference them, I have tried several ways like ["mc"+i] etc and nothing seems to work.

Is it possible to have two completely separate swfs to talk to each other, if they were both in the same folder and both open? For example one swf being an input text box, and the other swf being another text box which displays a list of the things typed in the input box of the other swf. I have this working all in one clip, I just want tho know if I can separate out the input box and the list box into two swf, and have them connected in some way, I'm sure I have seen this in some banner ads.

Is it possible to have movieclips, on two seperate layers, both located on the first frame of their layer, to have an AS where when MovieClip1 reached frame 5 of the movieclip MovieClip2 goes to frame 5 of its movieclip but MovieClip1 continues to play even though the AS was triggered?

how to move an object built from multiple symbols (including movie clips with interactivity) in a timeline other than the root? I tried putting them all in another symbol, but then the interactivity was lost.
On a boad scope, what I'm trying to do is animate a "digital multimeter" out of the way when not in use, and vise versa.

My goal is to have a map that I can drag around within the frame of a webpage. Finding the right code to move the map in a restricted frame wasn't too easy but I managed to find that (which works like a charm):
zoom3.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, dragArea);
zoom3.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, dropArea);

Now the catch is that I'd like the map to be dragged simultaneously with a movieclip situated above, that contains names of regions, cities etc.. Both can't be on the same layer as I need to put a layer of texture in between.
Is there a simple way to link both layers and make them move at once?

I'm having some trouble with the attached file, I've tried lots of things but just can't seem to control the movie clip. On click on 'Detailing' from the landing page a new slide *slides onto the stage 'content3'. Within this I have added a separate graphic with a tween 'gr_detailcopytest'. I want it to start only when it lands within the main stage's masked area. I also want the tween to stop too after its played out. I have tried adding a stop action at the end of the tween but this stops the tween altogether - Furthermore, when I click on another menu item and go back to 'Detailing' I want the tween to start again.

It has been awhile since I have worked in flash.Right now I am working on something where I would like a panel to disappear when someone mouses off the stage.stage.addEventListener(Event.MOUSE_LEAVE, leaveHandler); It usually works fine but if I move my mouse really fast it doesn't fire. I have also tried the same thing using a custom invisible button that surounds the perimeter of the stage and I have tried ROLL_OVER and MOUSE_OVERand again, if I do it too fast my event doesn't fire (I am using trace)I can't find anything on the net about this - is this typical of flash that if you move your mouse too fast you break it? Do I need to increase my frame rate (I would really rather not because I have perfectly timed animations - I am at 30 frames per second)

As of Flash 10.2, Flash supports hardware accelerated mouse cursors:[URL]..Unfortunately, the mouse cursor doesn't update until AFTER the mouse moves. You can see this behavior on the web page above. If you click "Set to custom cursor" in the sample app at the bottom of the article, you'll see that the cursor doesn't change until you move the mouse.
Anyone have a trick for updating the mouse cursor immediately, before the user moves the mouse? I tried doing Mouse.hide(); Mouse.show(); but that doesn't work.
