ActionScript 2.0 :: Flash Movie In One Frameset Affecting A Movie In Another?

im using a page with two frames. the top frame is the navigation and will always stay the same. the bottom frame has a big flash movie. when you roll over the buttons on the flash movie in the bottom frame, i want stuff to happen to the movie in the top frame.

i have a problem with the setInterval and clear Interval function with in a movieclip i created. the interval seems to still be running even though it is with in a movieclip and not on the main time line. how do i stop it from affecting the buttons on the main time line. i tried applying the clearInterval function to the button on the main time line but still no change.
I am in the planning stage of an application. In fact, the application already exists but I am thinking about how to improve it. It's a sports event commentary viewer- it allows the user to view live commentary on soccer games, written by news scouters during the process of the game. Right now, it's all one big file, reading 7 different XML files on the fly, evaluating and processing them and displaying the data on screen.
It works well enough like this but now the whole thing is supposed to be expanded with live news feeds and a videoclip gallery, etc... and even though it would be possible to just keep expanding the file, I thought it would be cool to instead make several segments and put them in an HTML frameset. Now the question is: Is it even possible to pass values from one flash file that is running in one frame- to another one, running in another frame? Of course I will know the framename- so could use getURL with the framename as a target... but that would fully reload that frame and "cold-restart" the swf in that frame- I don't want that.
This code is being run from a frameset in IE8. When the new window is opened, the form data is not being recognized. It appears that the http header, "content-type: application/x-www-form-urlencoded", is not being passed into IE and this is causing the post data not to be processed. The data is there, IE is just doing nothing with it.
This code works fine in FF and Chrome, and in fact the correct headers are passed in FF and Chrome.
NOTE: The new page is on a different site, but i don't know why that would cause a problem with a POST and not a GET.
I have tried adding the header to the send request, but that has no effect at all. The contenttype header is still missing and it still works everywhere but IE.
My current work around is to use a GET instead of a post, but that's ugly and it limits us in the size of data we can pass but for now at least it works.
I'm currently making an animation which will eventually exceed the 16,000 frame limit (don't ask haha), so, short of making two movies and having to just start up the next one, what is the code for loading a movie? I presume they need to be in the same directory? So basically all I want is on the last frame of the movie the code executes and the second movie file opens up and starts. I guess I'd want the current movie to close, too.
I Have 3 Movies:MAIN.SWF, contains loading movie actions for Nav.swf and Home.swf.NAV.SWF, contains navagation menu loaded on Level 2 in Main HOME.SWF, contains slideshow for home page loaded on Level 1 in Main In NAV.SWF, there is a MOVIE CLIP "graphmc", which contains a BUTTON "graphicbtn", When this button is clicked, I'd like the HOME.SWF (which is loaded into Main.swf on Level 1) to fade out and unload, and load and fade in Graphics.SWF in place of it.
I have made a number of Flash banners and I save them and everything is good but when I open them, some of the movie clips have reverted to a previous state. So I need to resize and redo thsoe movieclips. I make one banner and then save as new file and resize it. It is really annoying.. I am on P.C. and have all the current updates installed.
The movie was designed in several flash files, each has been combined into a single movie clip and then all the movie clips have been moved into the master document.
Each movie clip is on a single slide.
They play through and when a clip reached the end I have used the actionscript root.gotoAndPlay(x) where x is the slide number of the next clip in the sequence as such my timeline looks like this[code]...

Whenever I am trying to open a swf file (any swf file) or test a movie from the flash ide the internal player is blank and output has the msg error opening url "the path of the swf file here".This is not a problem that has to do with loading external files etc. It just refuses to open any swf file and ofc or test any movie cause it keeps saying error in opening url even in blank movies.
The simplest thing New File -> AS3 -> Test Movie -> Error in opening url I can publish the movie with no problem at all and I can run all the swf files outside of flash ide. I can debug movie from flash ide. I can html preview it from flash ide but i can't just hit cmd+enter to test the fraking movie.

I'm having a problem with pathways. I have a main sfw called "loadgallery.swf" and upon clicking buttons in that movie, it loads other swf galleries into a container called "movie." It is working when I test it in Flash, but not when I put it into an html page (two levels up from the swf files) and preview it in a browser.Here's the AS on a button (which works when tested in Flash):

is there any actionscript that allows a button inside the loaded movie control the main movie? i.o.w. can a button inside the loaded movie tell the main movie to go to another scene?

Does anyone know if it is possible to set the quality of a particular movie clip rather than the entire flash movie?
For example, say i wanted to start a drag of a movie clip. So when it started, the quality of that particular movie clip would be set to 'low' then when the drag is stopped it is set back to 'best'

I have a movie clip object with a width of 306 and height of 194. I need to change the dimensions of the movie clip and still have the x and y scale set at 100. Currently when I change the movie clip width to 352.8, the x scale increases to 115.3%. I have to have the scale reset to 100% after I've adjusted the movie clip's width. Is there a way to do this in CS3? (this is all in design mode, not run time). Do I need to delete the movie clip and recreate it?
I have a page that I have set up using Adobe CS5. I have the menu and logo and such together as a page. I now want to add a slideshow that I have also created in Flash CS5. How do I go about putting my slideshow into my page? I was thinking it would be through a insert function but can't figure it out.
I am pretty new to ActionScript 3 and Flash. I don't want my movie clip to play unless the person's mouse curser is on the movie clip for more than a second. If the person just runs their curser over the movie clips really quickly, then it should do nothing. It must be more than a second. How do I code that?
