ActionScript 2.0 :: Flash To Bend A Text In An Arc?
Feb 10, 2005
is there any way in flash to bend a text in an arc? (I'm assuming that if it's possible it'll be in AS) Let's say we want to set up a dynamic text along a circle (or a path for that matter)..
I have a text 'hello world' in my ActionScript3 file. What I am trying to achieve is to make the middle portion of the text bigger in height. So, it will start off with a small 'h' and then moving towards the middle, each letter's size will increase. The exact thing is shown in this image - [URL]
I am looking for some sample fla files in AS2 where i can see a running example of dynamic text curve (bend) and spacing in between the text through their respective sliders.

I know that you can bend images and do lots of other 3D tricks using PV3D for example but is it possible to bend flvs in Flash? (Let's say a movie gallery in form of a cylinder.)
I am having some problems with the away3D library. I want to apply a bend to a cube using AS3DMod, but i can't seem to get it working. My cubes kind of get mutilated when i want to bend them :p they bend to all directions and i can't seem to find a pattern in the bending.
Is there a script to bend simple white lines drawn in the flash movie? I want them to animate moving in waves through an AS3. Is this possible and if so, how would it be written?
[url]... in first site after loading complete there is a transition that bending all page.i saw this effect before some other sites but i cant find any example.i am sure it is built with pixelbender.
i want to bend the movie clip which is create by mc.graphics.lineTo() command.
when start my project this line is crate between two point "P1" and "P2", after some activity i want that line to bend like bow. i know the "curveTo()" function but i dont want to use it.
Is there a way to pass the textfield A text to a dynamic text input (flash) as I'd like to use the font embedding flash offers. I can make it work when loading a value from a txt file but I'm not sure how to access the value identified above as KitGroupID_16_TextOption_38 and make it appear in a dynamic input box. Eventually I might want to have 3 font choices for the user but I'd like to just see if I can get this working properly first.
I'm playing around with a messaging type of application. Does anyone know how, or of any tutorials on to "appending" html text to text areas in flex and flex mobile projects? And specifically how I could take that and basically "append" a sprite inline to the text when i need to? Something simple like:Username: some text right here!So, Anyone have any experience "appending" sprites or simple text formatting?how to solve these issues!EDIT:Based on an answer below it was sugguested that it's as simple as...textAreaInstance.htmlText += "<b>Username:</b> some text right here!";But its not. you can't do .htmltext with a text area. you can on a text field, so i tried
var TF:TextField = new TextField(); TF.width = 200; TF.height = 200;
I'm using the dynamic text scroller from [URL] found at [URL] Here's a link to my zipped files too... [URL]
1) I can't figure out how to have URL links in the text that loads.
2) How can I make the scroller refresh to allow for new text in the dynamic text area. The content changes alright, but the scroller stays in the same position and if it wasn't needed initially, the scroller disappears and doesn't return on new text.
I have many text elements in my flash file - how do I modify the text to make it all caps? Is there an easy way where I can select all of them in one go and make them all caps?
I just upgraded to flash player 10.1 and there's an issue with a program that I've been working on. I'm copying text from a mysql table that is formatted with spaces and newlines (including spaces and newlines at the beginning of the text) into a textArea in Flex 3.5. Before the update,it worked fine. Now when AS retrieves the text from the table, it does not include the spaces and newlines at the beginning of the text.I'm using xml to retrieve the text.
I've been trying to build a user interface that would allow someone to change the content of a dynamic field (loaded from a text file) using a rich text editor. However the editor inserts inline css style tags like <span style="text-decoration: underline;"> which Flash aparently can't understand. If the editor were instead to insert the following: <span class="ul"> where the stylesheet defined it as:
I am working in Flash CS5 and I have placed a text field (dynamic, classic text) on the stage. I am accessing it through Actionscript on the same frame like this:
var ct:TextField = TextField(getChildByName("Temperature")); ct.text = "Hello world";
What ACTUALLY appears is this: So... The H, Ls, and D are gone. Mysteriously. Without warning. I am sitting here utterly confused. Is this just me?
PS. The text field is set to Myriad Pro Bold, a font on my computer, so it isn't like it's a font problem.
I'm having trouble with dynamically assigning text to a dynamically created text field.
[Code]...
I've tried setting up the TextFormat and createTextField as a function that's called on the onRelease handler. I've tried dropping the whole frackin' code in the onRelease function for each button. Neither approach works. I've been digging around on the web, looking for answers, and nothing seems to solve my problem.
Is there any way I can embed HTML in flash? I know I can do this with text boxes but is there any other way I can do it? If not I know theres is the load feature where I can load text from a text file. With the html text box editing, Can i link that to the text file?. As in when you edit the text box with html could i have the textbox's instance name equal to the text file? With this my issue is with the <a href> in one textbox, I would like when i click those it open another text file in a different text box.
Clarification: I have two text boxes in my flash file.One has current products. And the other is the description of the product they select. I would like a way to edit and change the products in the first text box without having to keep using the FLA file. Which is why i am using this code
var myTextLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); myTextLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onLoaded); function onLoaded(e:Event):void {trace(e.target.data);} myTextLoader.load(new URLRequest("myText.txt"));
The contents of myText.txt are <a href=(not sure what to put here)> Product 1 </a> But all that does is put it in the text output section in flash.It does not show it in flash. I need help getting it to show up in a text box.That is the first part But the main problem is im not sure how to code the a href correctly so that when i click it, another text file opens in the second text box.So that when a user clicks on a product ,like "Product 1" It opens the correct description text file in the second text box.
I have made a movie clip which I export to ActionScript 3.
In this movie clip I have drawn a text field (area? well TEXT) using the plain "Text Tool".
After selecting the text, and after I have entered "0" to be displayed, I edit its properties. It's Instance Name, defined at the very top of the list I have written "score". The text engine is TLF Text and the text type "Read only".
When I have made a instance of the movie clip using AS3 I can't get the value of the text instance named "score" - when calling something like trace(getChildByName("score")) in the constructor I just get null.
I want to be able to get the value of the text "score", and I would also like to change its value.
Just how do I get the value from ActionScript? I don't want to have to create the text progamatically and position it, and I doubt that I have to.
There is a dynamic text box and I set it's wrap to be falseHowever, when I input text and press enter key, it still return to next line. How should I fix it in Flash CS3?
I know this is similar to an already asked question, but I would love to get some more detailed help on how the outcome was achieved. I have a website with SWF animations of automotive systems. Each animation has labels naming the parts, action buttons to show failures, and links to other animations. The text for each label is dynamic, with the label being pulled from an XML file. We allow the user the option of changing the language, and currently have successfully used English/French/Spanish (all left to right) and Hebrew (right to left).
We are trying to add Traditional Chinese for a user in Taiwan, and are having difficulty getting the characters to display. We can make it work if we embed the font file into the SWF, but the file size increases to a point that it is not practical to do. I want to use the "Device Font" option, so that we can enter the Chinese text into our XML file, and then the SWF will use the font file from the end users computer to display the characters, but if I change the text property to "Device Font" it makes all the label text in the boxes disappear, no matter what language I select. If I leave the box set to "Anti-alias", the other languages display correctly.
The XML file contains this for the Chinese language label:
and this for the English Language label: The encoding of the XML file is UTF-8.
