View 1 RepliesI'm using loadVars to import text from a text file and then put it into a dynamic text field - rendered in HTML. There is an extra space in the first line of text for some reason. I've checked the dynamic text field and theres no spaces or returns in it - its empty before putting the text into it.

View 2 RepliesFor some reason, when I import my external html to my page, I'm getting extra line breaks. Even if I don't use a <br> in the line, but do a hard return, I'm getting a line break. So that's weird too. As well, it doesn't do the bold (which may be an embedding issue, as I'm using a nonstandard font. I've got the normal font embedded. of coruse, the italics works, which is weird.). What am I doing wrong?I don't think it does anything, but I've set the textbox to "render as HTML," if that effects anything.

I put together an .html page using a photoshop jpg that I sliced into sections. I was asked to replace two graphics from the original .jpg file with animated content of the same size. Using my slices as a guide for size, I created the two animated graphics in flash and saved them out as .swf files. They are both the exact same size(px) as the static images. I opened my newly sliced html file in dreamweaver, deleted the static images and placed the .swf files.
For some reason the .swf files cause gaps in my html page. Tere are no borders on the .swf files and I can't figure what I've done wrong.
One note: It seems to only ad space when viewing from Mozilla. Havent' tested it on a pc yet either.[URL]

I am working with loadVars in an swf file embedded in an html page. The script is written to add a text string to existing textfield. The documentation I have does not address this situation. How do I get the return value from the server to the embedded SWF file in this situation?

I'm sure I've seen this before but I'm not sure of the syntax, and I can't seem to find the documentation. I made a Flash-based "news section" for my website. This file uses a text field (with render-as HTML) and an instance name of dynamicText. The actionscript fills this text field with content from a TXT file called homeNews.txt.Everything works great, except if I make additions to the TXT file and re-upload to the server, the Flash file still calls an old version of the TXT file from my cache. This even happens after emptying the cache. This is a huge problem if I need to add daily updates. This problem only occurs on the server and not when testing locally.

Is there any workaround to load in complete html pages with LoadVars ?
I have this client that wants to update some pages (just adding and removing text and pictures), but I would love to do it in action scripting and have him update an external file.
Now I could tell him to remove the tags from <html> to <body> and from </body> to </html>, save it as text file and add a variable (like myText at the top of his file, but that wouldn't make things much easier for him.
He'll probably start to complain that it would have been easier if I'd made it in html instead of flash

So what I'm looking to do now is to actually get that movie clip - in this case an arrow -to rotate around another object - a ship - at a radius of 150 pixels and facing the mouse.This basically means to get the arrow to follow where the mouse goes around the ship - limited by the 150 pixel radius circle it can follow.p.s. I am using sendAndLoad heavily in my fms3.5.2 application because it accesses an API on the webserver to execute commands. It calls a PHP file on the webserver which connects to a database, does some processing and returns XML output. Now, LoadVars has been giving me problems for months now. I suspect it is the reason my application crashes intermittently.
Also, lately.. it takes about 2 minutes just for the sendAndLoad to reach the onData stage. I have no idea why. This is not a problem of the PHP taking long to display the XML because if I access the PHP directly using `links` linux command, then it returns practically immediately.
I am using FMS 4.5 and have a simple application which I want to use to send two strings to a php file. But I get a compilation error whenever I try to assign any value to these objects:

I'm sure that I did no mistake in typing the URL, for it works fine in the browser (also no spaces, no freaky chars), and when i change the URL to another domain (and put the txt file on that server) everything works fine. I tried both possibilities "network access" and "local access" as well as running from an exe projector. But no chance.
i am trying to add extra images to the photo gallery attached. I would have thought it is easy and it seems so. I add an extra image to the gallery. I publish it. The html file shows the extra image in the gallery but the swf doesnt. driving me crazy, cant work it out?

View 1 RepliesI have a netStream loading an flv file from our server and it works great in the swf. However, when published to html it doesn't load the flv. I have a file search script that tells me the file is there so I know the swf can see it, but it just wont load the flv.
I believe the problem has to do with the way html handles the server's file path [URL]. I know this has to be the case because if I point it to a local server with a drive name (i.e. U:/flash/movies/myMovie.flv) then it works fine in html.
how to get around this and get the html to load the file?
We produce podcasts from Camtasia Relay. It can output the following to a file system (url/file path combination):
1) html/swf/mp4 and
2) mp3
The Camtasia Relay produces a link to the html file, which contains the swf which links to the mp4.
How can we natively stream these in our fms 3.5 server?
For example: In Internet explorer, would the link be rtmp://server/pathtofile.html -- which has the swf pointing to the mp4? and same fo the mp3: rtmp://server/filename.mp3 If the Camtasia Relay product creates the URL as http:// -- Does this automatically imply a progressive download by the http protocol? And by association, the url needs to be re-written to stream it, versus progressive download?

View 1 RepliesIn our company we upgraded to fms 4 and installed the apache that comes bundle up with the installation. We had it configure and now we can play videos in html 5 by using the http protocol. The question I have is, can we use https protocol instead of rtmps? I've been doing a lot of research and I found documentation that says to put a minus sign in front of port 443 (-443) in the fms.ini file in the ADAPTOR.HOSTPORT line but it also says that with this configuration port 443 will only receive rtmps connections. My next step is to put the minus sign in front of the port number and restart the server and just try to establish connection using https to see if i works.
View 1 RepliesI have created an application using Adobe Flex. I took all the files from the 'bin-release' folder and put it on the server. Then when someone connected to the server through http it is forwarded to the "index.htm". The "index.htm" page is the HTML page created automagically by Adobe Flex during compile time, I just renamed it to that name (from visco.html if it matters). The SWF file remained the same.
The problem is that most of the time when I go to the server, I get forwarded to the "index.htm" file and it loads the SWF perfectly. The other 30% of the time, it doesnt load! The background of the page turns blue (same as my SWF) and if I right-click it, it shows an Adobe Flash dropdown, so it looks like its sort of loading, but the application doesnt fully start even though it has been 100% reliable during debugging and when loading the SWF file manually.
What do I need to do to get the SWF file to load and start reliably?
