How can achieve this? because the above code does not work.
My problem is that I am using a variable to identify an element section of the many galleries I have under the tag "galleryType" and nothing is returning for me to display. Am I searching for my galleryType the right way in my code or do I need to loop through my galleryTypes on my XML.

I've seen similar threads but couldn't find one with the exact same issue. I've a PDF / Word document with arabic copy when I try pasting that text in flash all the joined letters start appearing as individual letters.I've tried the dynamic text box solution in which you create a dynamic text box and assign the text to its variable that doesn't work. But strangely when you write arabic in dynamic text box (with out assigning the text to the variable) and double click to select the text box and its content the text starts appearing fine .. but when published its again all individual letter.
View 1 RepliesI have a set of Cue Points in an FLV I'm playing. It's an interactive quiz, so the idea is that flash will change a variable, theAnswer, to a different letter depending on which question it is. The answer to question 1 is B, question 2 is D, etc. Either the cue point event listener isn't working, or else it is working and Flash isn't declaring the variables. 1120: Access of undefined property theAnswer. I literally can't find a single problem with my code. I have an almost identical Event Listener further down which works.

I decided to try to use setInterval for myanimation, which is just a mouse trail.However, I'm trying to get teh mouse trail to be a dynamic mask.In my previous swf this was achieved by using a holder mc with the animation inside and then using this as the mask. But this time I just canpt seem to hit on the right way to get it to work. The code I am using for the mouse trail is:

in the function, but now the trail doesn't resize and the mask still doesn't work.
on my main timeline there is a movieclip ("sampleMc") which contains a number of labeled frames containing movieclips of gallery images (for example "dyerBikiniMc"). in turn, each of THESE movieclips contain a number of frames of detail shots of the main image (for example "dyerBikini00Mc, dyerBikini01Mc, dyerBikini02Mc, etc.").on the main timeline i have a gallery navigation bar with thumbnail buttons determining which image will be displayed. there's also a right arrow shaped button "detailsBtn" that i'd like to allow the user to click frame-by-frame through the detail shots of the image. i also have a before/after toggle button on the main timeline that needs to control the movieclip one level below that, where the before/after images of that particular detail shot are stored!
View 9 RepliesI have a button object that I need to scale to align with the variable width of an array of images.However, when I set the width in code, the button does not actually become that width. Tracing out the width gives me the correct value, but on screen.. it's off.
I've proved it to myself by scaling the same button object manually in the properties pane and visually comparing. Both of the buttons below have a width of 410.

I'm trying to pass the contents of variable playnoyes to the long line of code below to decide whether or not to autoplay the flash movie, but doing it as I have below, the resultant line of code has the variable in quotes and therefore the code doesn't execute it as expected. My question is, how can I pass the variable so that the resulting line of code doesn't have the quotes around the variable value.

I made a carousel with actionscript 3 and it doesn't seem to be refreshing well. It's very choppy. Here's the file [URL] The framerate is 30fps

basically as ellipsePosition increments, the x and y values of the doc increment around the carousel. There is more to it for the scaling and alpha changes, but I get the same result if I remove them. I tried changing the framerate up alot. I also decreased the step size of ellipsePosition and it still acted the same. In DirectX I would create a backbuffer but I'm not sure that would be a reasonable fix for actionscript. Surely there is something built in, actionscript is by no means low level. It's a really vague question but is there anything thats very common that could cause this or that could prevent this, or is this expected behavior of flash.
I know how to move movieclips from one spot to another with a click of a button. I want to go further. After a few seconds, that movieclip will move again to another spot. So, with one click, my movieclip will move to one spot, and then after a few seconds will move to another spot.
View 6 RepliesI have this game where a movieclip moves towards the mouse point by finding the difference and dividing by its "speed". This isn't very good though because different users will have different cursor speeds. What I really need is a method that finds the angle between the two points then uses that angle and a "speed" to calculate the next position of the moving movieclip.Here's something along the lines of what I am looking for but it doesn't quite work?The function runs and everything. All that works, it's just the maths that isn't right.Something needs changing with the maths.

I'm currently making a game in which movie clips move across the screen and you have to shoot at them to make them disappear and gain points but I am having problems with the code. I have been able to get the movie clips to disappear but when instead of points appearing in the Dynamic text box, i get the letters 'NaN'.
This is the code I am using at the moment:

I have a difficult question and I have searched all over but cant find a solution.I have 3 movieclips:a) circle, filled in blue, black outlineb) circle, half filled in blue, black outlinec) circle, no fill, black outlineI have one instance of a movieclip moving randomly about the stage and want it to fade between a) b) and c) (based on a user defined input array eg circleArray[a, b, b, a, c, b, a] - if that makes sense?)The only way I am thinking is to have a movieclip that contains each of the 3 movieclips and then fades each to alpha 0 with a black outline at the bottom layer. And then referencing each faded movieclip with a label?
View 2 RepliesI'm making an image gallery and I want to have a bunch of thumbnails on the bottom of the screen that smoothly slide from side to side when the mouse moves.
I'm working with a custom class for the container (Tiles) and a custom class for the thumbnails (ImageIcon).
I have a ComboBox which allows users to to choose a gallery. When the user chooses a gallery, the following code is run and the thumbnails should reload. The problem here is that the icons appear on top of each other instead of side by side, also switching categories should remove the old one (see the first for loop), but it does not. Also, the Icons are not animating properly. The animation code is below as well. Right now, only one of the icons will move. The icons should move in order from side to side, stopping when the last few icons hit the edge of the screen, so that they don't get "lost" somewhere off to the side.

This script makes a spot move from the center out and scales a little. I want same movement but with a curling motion or a slight curve...
Click on a thumbnail and the corresponding image is preloaded BEFORE scaling and moving smoothly from the thumbnail position to a target position. (the thumbnail is actually the container for the loaded image, and therefore also moves to the target) I have got everything to work, except that the thumbnail moves whilst the image is still loading. This problem defeats the purpose of the gallery, and I'm starting to get blurry vision now!
I hope I have made everything clear, but since this is quite difficult to explain, I have attached the fla and images. *You will need to simulate download in flash for the current preloader to work. P.s. much of the script was (heavily) adapted from an fla I found somewhere, in which the images are arranged into a circle.
I'm making a screensaver where random characters in different positions and sizes walk/run across the screen. It seemed simple enough, and everything appears as they should. However, none of the Movieclips move forward on the stage. Here's the code on the first frame of the timeline, bolded lines are points of possible concern:

With no errors to go off of, I'm unsure how to proceed.
I am using the following code to simulate a volume control bar filling on vol+ and unfilling on vol-. The dragger is a mask that causes the fill to appear and disappear when the mouse is pressed and dragged on the volume controller. It works well, but I would like to add a "switch" that moves at the same time and in the same location as the fill, but on top of it... I created the movieClip for the switch and tried all kinds of variations to the following code with its instance in the code, but cant seem to get it working... below is the code which works with just the mask filling / unfilling.

I want to move a mc with actionscript, along a path, and this movement to last about half or so of a second (just like tweening in the timeline with frames and all). How can i do this?
View 2 RepliesI want the final result to be a stage with a certain number of circle MC's moving around. I have made the circle MC, and added the AS so that it will start at a random point with a random color, then start moving around randomly. I want to make it so that In the beginning the document will duplicate the movie clip x amount of times, using a for loop. I want to then have all the new circles move around, and when two circles hit each other, they will dissappear, using the removeclip function. You can only use this on duplicated movieclips though, so how would i make all the circles duplicated? Is there a way to duplicate the original movieclip x amount of times then delete it? Or is there a way to remove the original after it is in a collision? Also I don't know how to do the collision detection. I am thinking of using a hittest, but would I just do it with a for loop? Is there a way so that if an MC hits any other MC?

Now when I move my mouse over any movieclip, I want the movieclips around it to move away from it and when I rollout they should get back in place. An example of this can bee seen on [URL].

However- I cannot get the buttons in this movieclip to work. I'd also like to put a text scrollbar on a copy of this movieclip (no luck so far for the same issue), but perhaps resolving the button issue will also clear the way for a working scroller

These values are process on the main stage on the click of a button.
My question is, how do i get the value that was entered in the accordion movies into a variable on the main stage that the can be used.
At the moment i have a text box on the page, and have added this code to the first frame. Although i think the value is reserverd for use with the accordion movie and cant be accessed on the main stage.

I have a swf that is pretty complicated, you can interact with the page and go to different keyframes and it stops and/or starts depending on buttons, but I want to put it in a fla or something so I can put other swfs next to it and build it up and put several of them together as one.
I don't care about making it too complicated, I just want one interactive swf to go to the next compiled swf when that movie ends, but when I try importing it or loading it it just runs straight through without stopping or paying any attention to the scripting.
