I have a simple jukebox section on site and need a preloader, to let the user know that something actually is happening when they click on play, and wait for mp3 to load. What is best way to create preloader based on the code I am using (which is as simple as can be!) here is the code:

ActionScript 3.0 :: Play MovieClip On User Click And Stop At Specific Frame?

Sep 16, 2009

I'm using Flash CS4 with AS3. I'm building a website for a friend the problem I have. When a user clicks on a button I want it to play a movie clip then stop at a specfic frame. I want all the buttons to play the same movieclip but go to a different frame.

The current actionscript I am using is located on frame 1 is:
home_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, homebuttonClicked);
function homebuttonClicked(event:MouseEvent):void{
gotoAndStop(0)
}about_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, aboutbuttonClicked);
function aboutbuttonClicked(event:MouseEvent):void {
gotoAndStop("aboutme")
[Code] .....

This allows me to navigate to the right frame but does not play for obvious reasons, if I use the gotoAndPlay function its carries on playing to the end of the movie.

ActionScript 2.0 :: [FMX] - Preloader - "Click Here To Play" Link?

Mar 15, 2003

I'm just playing around right now; getting ready for when i'm gonna have to make a real flash intro. I'm using kirupa's actionscript for the percentage preloader + loading bar. Heres the timeline:

Frame 1 - loading bar actionscript (AS)
Frame 2 - this.gotoAndPlay(1);
Frame 3 - stop();

Now in frame 3, i have a "Click here to play" link. Here is the link's AS:

on (press) {play();

Now, everything works fine, untill i get to the "on press, play" part. I think because the movie has stopped, the AS is disabled or something.Is there anyway to have a "Click here to play" link?

IDE :: Play Music File Once Only On Click Of Play Button Until Music Stops

May 1, 2009

Using Macromedia Flash Professional 8.

I have a website banner made in Flash. I have added a music file to it and Play and Stop buttons. I also have a Replay button to replay the banner animation once it stops.

I have put the music on a separate frame so that it will not play automatically when the banner loads. I have made the Play button direct to the frame the music is located at so that when clicked, it will go to that frame and play the music file.

The problem I am currently having is that if I click the Play button more than once, it will play the music file again on top of the current play-through.

So if I click Play, the music will play. Then if I click it again, the music will play again, but on top of the first instance of the music, so two instances of it will now be playing and it sounds horrible.

I would like to make it so that if you click Play when the music is playing, it will not play the music again until the music has stopped.

Flex :: Update - Why Does UpdateDisplayList Stop Happening

Jul 30, 2010

Overview: The code giving me the problem is deployed here: [URL] The problem I am running into is that a certain sequence of actions (I don't fully understand how or why) is causing my calls to invalidateDisplayList to fail to produce a subsequent call to updateDisplayList. What I know is that during this period, some other visual effects will fail to occur (such as changing the width of a component or the addition of a new child).

Example: The program below draws two columns of horizontal lines. The column on the left is drawn during commitProperties, the column on the right is drawn during updateDisplayList. A certain sequence of actions can cause the right column to stop updating.

To trigger this bug: First add a new item. Now hit the start button and a bar starts filling up. If you press the add row button, the right column and the filling bar both stop growing. The left column continues unfettered. The extra component won't appear until the last line of the if statement in TEComputeRow.tick() doesn't execute for a frame. Click on the stop button to halt the execution of the block inside the if statement in TEComputeRow.tick() and everything goes back to normal.

Actionscript 3.0 :: Execute Actions That Were Happening In Frame 1?

Apr 29, 2009

I have a movie clip in frame 1 that skips to frame 2, contained in this function:

Code: Select allskipIntro_MC.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, introClick);
function introClick(pEvent:MouseEvent):void{
if(skipIntro_MC.visible == true && pEvent.target == skipIntro_MC)

[Code].....

Am I right in thinking this is happening because it's still trying to execute actions that were happening in frame 1 (fading in of movie clips using transitions) when it goes to frame 2? If so, how do I stop these actions so this error doesn't occur?

Load On User Click?

Aug 3, 2009

I'm using the following section of AS:

onClipEvent (load) {
//sets up a sound object, loads the .mp3 file and starts the sound.
this.faTrack = new Sound();

[Code].....

You do not need to import the sound file into Flash. You just have to make sure
that the .mp3 file is in the same directory as the .swf file. You should also make
sure that the .mp3 file is named the same as faFile in the FlashAmp .txt file.
The benefits of this method are that the .mp3 file only downloads if the user gets
to the bit in your Flash file where you call it. It also plays as it streams although there will be a slight delay as it buffers (FlashAmp will take account of this delay as the arrays are based on the position of the sound).

ActionScript 3.0 :: When The User Clicks The "exit" Button A Class File Is Called To Mark The User Complete In An LMS?

Oct 4, 2010

I have a problem with a dynamic video player that I have created in flash. The video player is "SCORM" compliant so that when the user clicks the "exit" button a class file is called to mark the user complete in an LMS.I have tested the SCORM Code previously and it works with out issue. Usually I have the completion code embedded in an Actions Layer of the movie. This is the first time I have attempted to call the completion status in a class file, I have added a "trace statement" when the movie is tested within flash it runs the trace statement properly, but when uploaded to the LMS environment the course does not complete properly

ActionScript 2.0 :: Creating Background Preloader To Load Stuff Of User Choice?

Apr 25, 2008

Its meant to be a background preloader, so it loads stuff in, but if the user selects something it stops, loads the choice item and removes it from the "to be loaded"...loadArray. so when it restarts it knows not to load it again

Setback/feature 1: if a user choices to select an item, it will continue to load whatever is loading and start to load the item they want.
Setback/feature 2: the preloader will not restart until the user calls userCont().... should I have a timer so after awhile it kicks back in?

Error: just realised I have to stop it when it gets the end of the list.

Code:
stop();
//loadArray = stuff to load
//targetArray = target for stuff to load into
//loader(loadArray, targetArray);
// call loader function
