ActionScript 2.0 :: Numerical Values - Access Each Thumbnail's Number Not Entire Name

Sep 13, 2004

This ActionScript is creating reading an XML file, and laying out thumbnail images. I'm stuck though! Each thumbnail is given a value of thumbnail[x], going from 0-5. I wrote some mouse actions and need to access each thumbnail's number, not entire name (where I have it in red below).

Flash Sliders To Effect Numerical Values?

Feb 11, 2011

I used to use flash years ago, and have only recently come back to it in my course in university so im very rusty.

What i am looking to do is in flash create two sliders where the user can slide along to their shoe size, and their weight, so that as they do that, the numbers in two other boxes will periodically change to help indicate what size snowboard they need to get.

eg. as user makes shoe size slider go along to larger sizes, at certain points the number in a box labelled board width will increase.

also as an added touch I would like a character to actually increase in size as the slider is used, I'd imagine for this I would need to have a movieclip of the character getting bigger and allow the slider to progress through the frames of this movieclip.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Making Panels/windows So The User Can Enter Numerical Values Then Submit Them Via A Button?

Apr 25, 2011

I'm currently underway in designing the UI for my game's level editor, I'm not using Flash's build in UI components instead I'm doing it from scratch using OOP.I want to have buttons, drop down menus, panels/windows that contain text fields and buttons.

At the moment I have the buttons down whenever one is created it is added to a static class's static array, and given a unique id number dependent on how many buttons have been created and added to the array so far.I figured this would be good as whenever a button is created I could apply an Event Listener looking for a MouseEvent.CLICK. Then just using the event.currentTarget.getID(), to find out what button has been pressed.

I'm about to start making panels/windows so the user can enter numerical values then submit them via a button, which will also close the window. I was thinking about doing more of the same and having static classes for each input type which lists all instances of that type of object.

Professional :: Preload A Certain Number Of Frames Only Instead Of The Entire Movie?

Sep 22, 2010

So I have a movie containing some content that I would like to pre-load. I made the pre-loader and it works fine but it could be more friendly for the user. Because the movie is quite long in duration, I think its good enough if I only load say the first 35% of the movie and then let the remaining 65% download while the user is watching the first 35%. Is there a way that I can modify my pre-load script to do this to say something like: 'load content for frames 10 to 200, play from 10'.

What is a good method to remove a value from an array once it has passed a certain length? For example i only want my array to hold 5 values.

Also, is there a method for clearing the entire array, ie removing all values? Or will i have to manually change all the values with a loop?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Error #1009: Cannot Access A Property Or Method Of A Null Object Reference At "frame Number:raw Number"

Oct 11, 2009

I created the following AS for a particular frame

Code:
cnx.addEventListener(CNXConnection.DIGITAL, onDigital_10);
function onDigital_10(e:DigitalEvent)
{

[code]....

While debugging everything works properly if I'm testing that frame.But, pushing a button in another frame, I get the following error:

TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference at "frame number:raw number"

I'm quite sure that the problem is that the variable e.Join changes its corresponding e.Value pushing a particular button in another frame (as must be). Any ideas how to link that information to the frame that create the error?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Var:Number Got Two Values At The Same Time?

Mar 2, 2010

I got a slideshow class, and in here I have a Number variable named "currentImage". This is changing(with the method currentImage += 1 when you click to the next image.

The problem is that when I trace currentImage (Event.ENTER_FRAME), it gives different values on odd and even frame numbers. On frame number 1 trace is 0, on frame number 2 trace is 1 and so on, on frame number 3 it is back to 0 and so on.

The slideshow works, but I got a function that resets the slideshow and this function is also using currentImage, this function doesn't work because of the changeing number.
