View 3 RepliesI have an application that I'm migrating from flex 3 to flex 4.5. In this application, there is some mx Image components that load a simple swf file (image). Spark image doesn't load swf files, so I was wondering, should I keep the mx Image, or should I change it to SWFLoader? Is there any advantages to using one or the other?

When i test the movie the background image is loaded, but when i simulate the download ( so as to check how the preloader works ) the image "NightSky.jpg" doesn't load and there is an error in the output panel.
This is the error:
Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2036: Load Never Completed.
All the files and the image are in the same file on my computer.
is it possible to have a back up image if the flash doesnt load?

I'm trying to create a five image gallery, and when I try to add the load request for the 3rd, 4th, and 5th images I get an error message that says it doesn't recognize that request: see code below:

I have created a main file,which has a navigation with buttons.Each button loads an external swf file.In one of the external swf files I have created an xml gallery.I have created some empty movieClips which work as holders and they load the images.It works great when I publish it,although it doesn't work when I publish the main file.It just doesn't load the images.
View 1 RepliesI've found the loader component handy in loading JPEGs and scaling them to the specified size. However, I've found it a little annoying that when the image is loaded, sometimes you can see the image in it's original size for a fraction of a second before it's resized to fit the loader.such as the loader only being visible after the image is resized?

I am loading two images dynamically I then RESIZE them according to the Stage.width I make a crossfading effect between them. Doesn't work. I get rid of the resizing, works. I need the resizing. I must be missing something, but is there an issue with changing the alpha of resized loaded images?
View 4 RepliesI'm trying to load PNG images with ActionScript with a Loader object. This works fine for some of the images (the INIT and COMPLETE events are fired as expected), for some other it doesn't. I've read in this thread that a URLLoader might help, so I tried that, using the loadBytes() function afterwards. Still doesn't work: the URLLoader fires the COMPLETE event, but the LoaderInfo object does not.I've written a sample class that demonstrates the problem with two files (one working, the other one not).

All images were generated with the PHP GD library and I'm compiling with SWFTools's as3compile.The two images map_in_big.png and map_us_big.png are in the same folder (not allowed to post more hyperlinks).
I have a an swf (A) that loads external swf files (B). I use the loader or UILoader classes for this. I do not have the source of the loaded flash files, I have source only for files A. The loading works fine. The problem is some of the loaded files resize or rescale themselves. Doing some research I realized that they use the Stage.width/height for calculating their size/scale. This approach works fine, when they are embed to a website, because they get a stage sized for their needs. But when these files are loaded in my MovieClip, they get the stage of the loader swf(A), and that is definitely have different sizes.
Approach 1: In this approach I tried to create a fake stage for the loaded movies with the right size for them. This failed at several points: Stage is a singleton, and the stage property of the objects are Read-Only. On top of that Stage is a built-in class, without AS source. My first question is that is there any possibilities to override this class, or use this approach?
Approach 2: I planned to design a web-service (not in actionscript), that predownloads the swf, decompile it, replaces the references to Stage.width/height to the correct values, compile it again, and passes the generated swf to my Loader. On decompilation/recompilation, it should be as fast as possible, and I'd like to modify the swf as little as possible, so I prefer to not decompile the swf completly, just as much as needed.
After some googling I found swix kit, or simply swix. It generates not the source but an xml file equivalent to the swf. The problem is this xml format is not documented, or at least I haven't found it. I found references for Stage, but I have no idea how to modify that file.

[URL] Above is a link to view the project I'm working on. Once the site loads if you go to the "Contact Us" page the content doesn't load correctly. I'm using an extrnal .xml and .css files for the content. I'm also embedding the fonts dynamicly. If I test the file locally on my computer is works fine the image loads as it's supposed to and content looks correct. However when I post the files to the server (which work exactly the same way) I get the white box when you can see from the link above. I'm at a complete loss as to how to to fix this.

The <mx:Image> tag has a fixed width and height (it's 100% of the tile size--this is in an ItemRenderer). How do I get the image to sit on the bottom of the <mx:Image> tag?
I have an image on the stage which is bigger than the stage itself:
The stage is 700x550
The image is 2100x1650, and it's registration point is at its center, if I remember correctly.The initial location of the image on the stage is 350,75.I want to make sure that the user will be able to drag the image, as long as the edges of the image doesn't show.here's what I did:

The the top and the left of the image are bounded well, but as far as the bottom and the right side of the image.
I'm using Agile Uploader in my project to resize image before upload on client side.And it works fine except one thing: if image name contains cyrillic letters it fails with server error 500.
How to avoid this or if needed how to rename file with english letters "on fly" (possibly with javascript).

I developing a site where on the homepage, there are about 6 images that rotate, but if you click on a sub link, a different image loads. But the problem is that, the first image has to cycle through before the second image loads. I want the second image to load immediately.

I have most of that working but what I would like to know is that, if there is a way the user can interactively scale/transform the image when it is on the stage in the swf file?
View 2 RepliesThe images i load into the flash website must be 50 x 50 pixels in the flash website. But if i'm uplaoding an image with for example 100X100 or 300x 92 the image doesn't rescale to 50x 50 i tried and i tried but i can't find the solution. I started with a mask, but because the whole news part uses a mask for the scroll content the image will not appear when using a mask 50x50.

I cant load an image from a class.I have main.as which calls Classplayer.as Classplayer calls ClassMisiile.I cant load an image from ClassMissile .I can load the image in Classplayer and dont know why the image in ClassMissile doesnt appear and it is spelt right and in the correct directory.I dont get an error and the functions work but no image.

I would like to be able to add the functionality of being able to load different galleries from a menu without loading a new mc with gallery inside it. I managed to botch the file up pretty good on my own, and was wondering if there is a ready answer nearby.So I'm thinking have but1, but2 and but3, with a seperate xml file for each. What would you recommend for a smooth way to swap the the xml files to the gallery, and load the first image of the new xml file? Also, can it be done with one big ol' xml file while keeping the galleries seperate? It's not necessary, but could be handy, and save some loading.It would also be interesting to apply the same principle to the resizing script that Scotty has in that big Resizing thread, just a thought.

Note: No runtime errors. No nothing. The text shows up entirely unformatted. I even made an HTML document and imported the same exact css file into that, and it worked fine... It just doesn't work in flash.
My new player is 99% done, and works great in many browsers, but doesn't work in IE7 in parallels. It doesn't run any of the netstream functions and seems to stop completely, with my spinny progress bar going infinitely. I'm using the debugging player, but no errors are being thrown.

I am trying to use URLLoader to load an XML file from server (same domain as swf). This should be too simple but I am getting Error #2032: Stream Error.If I trace the HTTP status event it just shows status=0 though I have read that Mozilla doesn't supply status codes to Flash Player so maybe it's not informative.I have sniffed the HTTP traffic with Charles and Flash isn't even trying to load the url - no request is made, so it doesn't even fail.I can browse to the url, which is on an internal url that looks like:URL...I have tried putting a crossdomain.xml in there (with and without a to-ports="8080"), though it shouldn't need one.Neither the onOpen nor onActivate events fire, just one HTTPStatus and then the IOError.I have copied the common URLLoader code from Adobe example, mine looks like this:[code]
