ActionScript 2.0 :: Time-limit The Final SWF Flash Animation?
May 18, 2004I'd like to know whether it is possible to time-limit the final SWF Flash animation? Can it read the system date and stop working after 45 days, for example?

View 1 RepliesI have a certain set of motion twains that I've successfuly completed, they constantly loop right now (default), and is saved in the SWF file.I'd like to take that finished looping animation, and insert it within another animation (a) that can be played with a play button, and stopped/resetted with a stop button.How do I insert the completed looping animation into the main animation? And is there something special I have to do in the actionscript of the start and stop buttons so that the "inner" looping animation will start and stop with the "outer" main animation?
View 1 RepliesI'm new to the forum and also to flash.I'm trying to create a 2 minute video. Can someone please tell me how to set the time.for eg: I want the first part of animation i createed to play for 5 seconds.when i give the frame from 1 to 5 it plays too fast(i.e does not last 5 seconds). when i give frame rate as 1second per frame(usually 24fps) the animation is not smooth:(. how do i set it so that it plays for 5 seconds and the next 5 seconds i want the remaining animation to play.
View 4 Repliesbut i've just been learning what i can from the net. anyway, a friend of mine bought a flash website template off the net and gave it to me to modify for his wife's business (it's a spa). so i've got it all done and they are wanting to upload it onto the server for the grand opening this weekend, (even though i haven't been paid for doing the work yet).so i was wondering if there was some sort of actionscript i could insert so that the website will only play for a specific time (lets say from 5:00pm on 4/31/09 thru the weekend, to say... 6:00am on 5/3/09.
it would be extremely nice if one of you Geniuses could maybe even help out with the script
I created a "movie" that is basically just several sentances fading in and out. I'd like it to stop eventually, so it's not annoying. I know with animated gifs you can tell it to "play" 5 times (or however many times you want). Is there a way to do this in Flash? Or would it be something I set on my html page?
View 1 RepliesThe quality of sound when playing my flash file on the timeline in flash CS4 is excellent, however when I go to test movie the sounds quality becomes awful, like its being played in a tunnel on terrible speakers, my sound files are .wav files, am I missing a process I must do to ensure the quality of sound is carried through to the final published animation?
View 1 RepliesI have a score that goes up by 10 every time you press this button, its var "score". I have a simple countdown timer. caller, its var "timer". When the game ends it goes to the next frame which says game end. I can get the score to show but I want the time left to be added to this.
I have tired:
onEnterFrame (){
score = Number(score) + timer;
}
Nothing seems to work. Do I even actually use onEnterFrame ?
Is there a funcion or eventlistener to check if an animation got to its final layer? Like, I have 3 movieclips: stance, precharge and charge. When I press a key, stance changes to precharge, but I need precharge to change to charge when its animation changes. I don't want precharge to loop and return to the beginning.
View 4 RepliesI am working with the open source flash player at [URL].. and I am trying to figure out how to limit one sound file at a time. I know this has been done on a number of sites but I am unsure how to approach it.
Scenario: A page has five different instances of the flash player. The user is litening to one song but clicks on another to listen to it.Goal: The first audio file automatically stops while the second starts playing instead of both playing at the same time.
Do I need to have some sort of javascript handler than interacts with the swf or something?
Setting up a time limit that if the time equals to 3 minutes the game stop.I have a card game with 10 different cards to be paired. My problem is to put a timer that limit the player to only 3 minutes of playing after which a movie clip that says "Time is up!" will be displayed.
View 2 Repliessorry if i ask questions that been posted b4, but i js cant find one actionscript which teaches how to make a time limit countdown. such as in my game the characters need to do something in 30seconds. And so i need a time limit of 30seconds.
View 3 RepliesI know its possible to put a limit on how many bullets (which is a MC) that can be on the screen at one time. However, I've been playing with it for about an hour now and can't figure out the right AS. I am including the swf and the fla.

5 buttons, 5 thumbs. I click on the third thumbnail, it shows me the 3rd picture. Pretty simple, pretty straight forward. How do I add a time limit? For instance if I click on button #3, and I stay there for 12 seconds without clicking, it goes to #4, 12 seconds later to #5, 12 seconds later to #1, etc?
I asked for help earlier with a banner and a button that counts roll overs. I am having an issue where the first movie clips in the array play much more often than the others. When I mouse over every couple of seconds or so, only the red mc plays. When I go a little faster the red and blue mcs play back and forth, and when I do a bunch of mouse overs really fast, then all 3 play in order. What part of the code has something to do with amount of time between roll overs? I want it so that even if I roll over once and then again a minute later, I want the second movie clip in the array to play instead of the first again. Here is the code I have in the first frame of the main timeline, as well as a stop(); in the first frame of each mc.

Lately I am getting quite frustrated by the fact that Click in Flash is basically mouse down and up (staying in the same object). I would like to add further limits like time and movement to validate a click. How to do it cleanly? I did a check with mouse down/move/up but got some issues, how to do it successfully (and tested).
View 5 RepliesI have problem with the setInterval function. I have a game application that sets a time limit of 3 minutes. From 3 minutes counting down by 1 second up to zero. The problem is, the counting of the timer is by 2 seconds and sometimes by 4 seconds. I tested the movie in my local computer and looks fine but when I upload it to a server and it is embeded in a website. And by the time the user clicks the link to play the game application and starts playing the problem about the timer occurs.
View 6 RepliesI'm working on a project where we use Flex, Spring, Hibernate and Blazeds,all working on a Weblogic server.Everything works fine and we call services at the server side from the flex app without problems,but now we need to limit the time who spent the execution of the services to 2 seconds, if any service takes more than 2 seconds the server must return a timeout to the flex app.I've been searching for a way to do this with the blazeds configuration, but it looks that it's not possible.Is there any way to achieve this? I've thought in add a filter to the blazeds requests so it can control the timeout... But I can't find any example and I don't have enough knowledge of filter.
View 1 RepliesI am primarily a programmer, a games programmer by trade who happened to pick up Flash on the side and later through a series of coincidences became a full time flash developer. Most of my work thus far has been code heavy, and has focussed on such things as interacting with web services, localization with xml files, flash video, streaming video, networking etc.
My employer recently lost one of its contractors who built a lot of animation heavy flash apps for them, and as I know my way around the Flash IDE quite well, and have created fairly complex animations in the past, they have asked me to assume a more animation orientated role. To this end, they have offered to send me on courses to get up to speed with Flash animation.
As I know probably 90-95% of Flash's capabilities, and am comfortable with animating / easing / masking / filters / tweening and how to produce these effects programmatically, my interest would lie in a course that teaches fairly advanced uses / best practices of flash. For instance, I find that there are many ways to do things in Flash, but only a few approaches that will get you there without the entire IDE coming to a grinding halt (shape hints is a good one, or perhaps an approach has forced you into a corner with many tweened animations which now need a small alteration made to all of them).
I was looking up the web today and couldn't find anything in how to time an timeline animation in flash.
Let suppose I have X number of scenes and each scene has a different number of frames running at a certain frame rate, how could I code a text box to tell me how long my animation would be in seconds?
I am working on an animated web banner. The specifications say that the animation must stop after 30 seconds but can resume on a mouse rollover. My animation is just a looping rotating circle created on the timeline. How can I get this looping animation to stop after 30 seconds? Also, is there a simple way to have the animation resume on a mouse rollover

View 2 RepliesI work on a truckload of flash banners and have progressed more into dispatching events from the final frame of a MovieClip that would contain an object (or collection of closely related objects) animating and then listening for them from the parent timeline so that I know when to continue the main animation etc.In the animation I'm working on currently, there's a car built from blocks over time (the blocks fall from the top of the banner to make up the car); this is all contained within one MovieClip (to make the resizing easier - all I'll have to do is move the entire MovieClip around).The problem is that when I place this MovieClip onto the timeline, it's represented by its first frame (which is nothing because no blocks have fallen yet). This makes it hard to work with because I can't really tell exactly where the car is going to be when the animation is done and so on.Is there a way to have the final frame of this MovieClip visible from the outer timeline?
View 3 Replieshave been browsing through internet and alot of forums to find THE best way to open a new popup window from Flash, only to discover that most dont even work!
The only requirements that i have with the script is that the movie can be published in version 8 AND is crossbrowser.
Alot of other popup window scripts either work only when published with lfash 5 OR only works for Firefox.
I have seen the other example files and popup generators but they dont work perfectly.
I got some text that has a background, and the backgroud color can change to any color.
So, I need to find a way to figure if my text will be readable or not, the text should change to black (for example, yellow background) or white ( dark blue background ) if the contrast is not good enough.
So, is there a method to do this?, what would you use to make this work?
Im building an iPad 2 app with Flash with ActionScript 3 (Adobe CS5.5), what I want to do is to wrap my two sections of the video (h264) inside the final app? I do not want to stream the video or load it external, "I need it to be included in the app locally" (inside the final package)!I need it to be in one application, to upload to the iTunes Store/Google market
PS like to do the same with Android, the package (apk) no stream video.
I am looking for information on how to best import assets from Illustrator and Photoshop to get a low file size for the final swf. In particular:I have text that has been effected in Photoshop and a few images that can be brought in from Photoshop or illustrator. Right now I am exporting for web and bringing to Flash. Looks good but file size of end swf too big. I have gotten .fla files before from so-workers that have text or graphics as shape objects rather than images - is that possible and how is it done?
View 1 RepliesI am looking to add some code to my xml file that will change the final font, size and colour in Flash Action Script 2. I want to be able to have the choice of a few font sizes, styles and colours. Below is the AS2 script so far, and the XML.

I have a job where the client wants to switch an animation (movieclip) on the stage between the times of 10 a.m. and 12p.m. EST then the off time will just revert back to the original animation.
View 4 RepliesI have a very simple animation (spring effect) on a rectangle. The animation is run on mouse over event. When I test the movie and drag the mouse over the movie clip for the first time, the animation is always a little jaggy. On second and further mouse over, it's ok. Is there a way to improve it? Maybe to run the animation for the first time in an invisible way..
View 3 RepliesI'd like to find the best way to calculate the actual time for the animation to be played. In my scenario, I have a button to start animation and button to stop it. Animation is set to run 3 second. I'd like to know how long the animation did ran after I press the stop button.
