ActionScript 2.0 :: Toggle On And Off Different Movieclips In A Scene With An Assigned Number
Sep 26, 2007
This seems like such a simple task but I seem to be going about it wrong. I want to be able to toggle on and off different movieclips in a scene with an assigned number like: 1 would make movieclip1 start and stop, 2 would make movieclip2 start and stop, etc. I got it to work with the spacebar but with that I can't target specific movieclips.
I'm trying to do a project where there are 5 movie clips no1_mc, ...no5_mc. Initially only no1_mc's alpha will be 1, while the rest of the movieClips alpha will be 0.5.
What I want to do is if no2_mc is clicked the its alpha should be 1 and the rest of the movieClip's alpha should be set to 0.5.
I am tring to create a simple mine game..so I created a couple movie clips one of which is to be assigned a value of "0" and the other is to be assigned a value of "1" randomly. That is if the one on the left has "0" the other should have "1" and that if I click the one having "0" value ,let it explode or do something..The problem is that I am not sure how to use "onClipEvent(enterFrame)" and on(press).. I named my MCs as "mcleft1" and "mcright
I'm new to flash and just need to do a simple task but I can't manage to get it to work. I'm trying to import a video (flv) into a SWF container and need to AS functions which should be exposed to JS (using liveconnect or anything else). These two function should toggle sound on/off and toggle play/pause. I dont need any user interface or a full featured player, just these two functions.
Are there anyway to get number of frames in a specific scene? There's a totalFrames property of MovieClip class, but that's the total frames of all scenes.
I want to get the current frame and current scene because I want to be able to return to that same exact scene and frame when I click a button that goes to a different scene. When I click a button that says "Exit" I want to go back to the same spot as before.
ok, so i have this movie. i have three scenes in it. and i wanna make it so the first scene randomly selects a number so it can jump to either scene 2 or 3. so everytime it loads the page it will go to either one of those randomly. i can easily do this buy loading external swfs and getting it to work, however jumping to a random scene in the movie doesn't seem to work right. here's my code, anyone know what i'm doing wrong? am i missing something simple?
Num = Math.random(); Num = Math.round(Num); if (Num == 0) {

I am in the front scene of my project in flash and i have something like this: a Mc1 with a text and 3 buttons. the button1 i want it when pressed apears another Mc2 with text instead of that, when button2 is pressed Mc3 appears in the place and when i press back_btn it loads Mc1.
I got 3 movieclips with two frames on each, e.g. light on/off, which serve the purpose as buttons, so the user can toggle them on/off. My problem is that i cant sem to figure out how to make a listener or/and an if statement that keeps a lookout after if a light has been switched on already. So if the red light is on and the yellow light gets turned on, then the red light goes out etc. Also I need to send that information to another class, I guess that would be done through a get/set function?
I'm trying to create a game for a class project, using Flash MX. Unfortunatly, I am unable to figure out how to goto a new scene when the score reaches a certain number.
The ActionScript for it is...: //hit _root.total = _root.total + 100 //miss _root.total = _root.total - 50 [Code] .....
I've even tried using ""'s around 'score' and other things, but still no luck. I still havn't figured out the stupid timer either...
I'm creating a website that allows kids to designs a tshirt. I will have four section, colour, graphic, text and print.
I have created these sections on demos and they are all working.
I now need to properly create them all on one movie clip.
I'm having problems with it, when i select the chosen tshirt color and move onto the graphic section the shirt is white again and hasnt came through blue. Its the same for every section, when I select a grahic they dont come through either etc when I click the next button it refreshs the page.
Does anyone know how to create this kind of design on one movie clip using different frames and so that the colour etc transfers onto each new page?
So I've recently started working with ActionScript 2.0 at my internship. I am now working on a game, that already had all its graphic interface designed and I am doing all the programming. Basically what I have to do is get some movie clips (randomly) from a different scene and print them on another scene in a designated area (but also randomly). I am not sure the best way to explain my problem, so I made a sketch of how the scene should look. [URL] So basically I want to print the movie clips on the black space, as if they were the red squares. But the movie clips are stored in a different scene in the same project. So I want to know two things: how do I get the movie clips from the different scene? And how do I print those movie clips on the specific area?
I'm just starting to learn as 3.0, and was having problem understanding the scenes, timeline (stage, root) and movieclips.
Basically now I have two scenes: S1, S2 S1 has one mc: round_mc ; S2 has one mc: rect_mc And I have same set of control buttons: play, stop, prevFrame, nextFrame, prevScene, nextScene, gotoAndStop()
The control buttons worked with the round_mc in S1, but didn't control rect_mc when S2 is playing. Why same set of buttons doesn't work in all scenes. Should I have to assign a variable to detect movieclips on the current scene...
ive made a button in the scene 1 which i have managed to navigate to scene 2 but when i click the button it goes to scene 2 but displays everthing that is in scene 1 in scene 2, how can sort this out so upon the button click in scene 1 it goes to scene 2 and only display content in scene2.
everything here is fine. It opens finely. But... i want to pass parameters where if i click a button in html page My.swf should open a particular scene called 'Scene 2' rather than scene 1. i tried
i have an animation and some movie clips. i want to add my scene an action that brings movieclips from my library randomly on my stage in every 20 seconds. how can i do that? the movieclips should be on the stage so we can see them but they should be invisible until they called from the action.
How can I find out the total number of MovieClips on stage at any one time?
I've just had to optimise a tile based scrolling game by ripping clips off and on the stage as it scrolls. I could have used gotoAndStop scrolling but I was hoping I could try clip ripping first (reorganising my entire library wouldn't keep me on schedule) - so far the overhead has been drastically reduced.
But I want to be double sure there aren't any MCs lurking (implementing this is producing rarely occuring bugs), how can I get the number of clips attached?
1) I want to count the number of movieclips(in different class) added. That is, may be I have 10 clicks, how many bigfish and smallfish are created. What function is suitable to call for doing this.
2) I have a problem on the hittest, it comes out "no hit" only but I still can see the movieclips overlap. And if I want to modify that only check whether smallfish is overlap with bigfish, what should I do? Also, there are functions inside the movieclip itself to give motion.[code]
After a click event I want to dynamically create 2 movieclips with the sequential number in their name, e.g. mc_001 & mv_001 so that I can 'link' them together later on. How can I create a movieclip with a dynamic name? I am trying to use this at the moment: Code: var movieclip["name"+dynamicNumber]:MovieClip = new MovieClip(); I can't use an array unless someone can tell me how to access it across multiple classes...
I'm working on a friends site - Lorenshaw.net using CS3 and all of the code for the buttons is pointing to the right scenes yet it goes to the wrong scenes. Does anyone know what the problem could be? I also have some stop actions at the end of each scene. For buttons I'm using On release, gotoAndPlay "Scene, frame number"
I am trying to use the ENTER_FRAME event with a number of dynamically created movieclips and it is not working. The swf features a series of five clock faces that the user will select by hitting the appropriate button. Each clock has five unique movieclips to that season including a second hand, a minute hand, a main character, a seasonal clock face and a back ground, again, each of these MovieClips are different on each of the five clocks. So I have a series of five listeners for each of the buttons:
If in a situation, the addEventListener is being assigned more than once for same actionwhat will happen then? Suppose on frame 5 there is ample_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK...... ... and when user navigates the application/site it comes on frame 5 again and again. Will the addEventListener be applied more than once on that button? If yes then what will happen on clicking on that button? will the associated function be called more than once now?
