How can I add sprites in a for loop?
Example:

Basicly I'm adding dynamicaly sprites and textfields, which i populate from xml, in for loop. I'm building sort of table, so for every sprite, I'm adding new data in textfields.I've loaded xml and passed data to 2 xmllists, both traced and doing fine... Later on I add data from xmllist to array which then I'm looping in for loop.Problem is that from 1st xmllist, 6 out of 7 textfields are visible, 1 can't be found nowhere :/ from the 2nd xmllist only 1 out of 4 are visible...I've tried everything, tracing them returns that they are visible, on good position, filled with text, contrasted color from background.
PS: here is the part probably causing the problems..

i am currently working in flashbuilder and i imported a swc wich containes a ratingcontainer. That ratingcontainer contains 5 ratings, they are labeled "Rating1", "Rating2, "Rating3", "Rating4", "Rating5".These are placed on the stage. i also have a sprite called "Star" and when i for example click on "Rating4" then every Rating from 1 to 4 should get stah Star sprite added to them, when i click again on Rating 3 or something then only 3 the first 3 should have the star added. i tried the following:

I created an xml driven video player (followed along to cartoonsmart.com tutorial). Everything works to perfection and I'm quite chuffed with the results. The problem is that the long description at the bottom needs to be longer than the box, so I need to add a scroller when the text is longer and I need to be able to format it with line breaks and bolds etc. I can't seem to get the desired effect.The text box has an instance name of descBox.[code]

I want to incorporate a scrolling image banner into my website, and found a great tutorial on youtube which works well.I can't post a link unfortunately.It is a pretty basic image scroller that has a series of images scrolling across the screen in an infinite loop. Direction is controlled by mouse position (extreme left or right), and it will stop when the mouse is positioned over an image in the center area.Here's the code:

After trying to figure this out through forums such as this for days, it seems that my answer is to use XML (which I do not know, and which I think would require completely starting over).Is there any way to do this in AS3?
Again, I'm a novice user, but understand the basic animation tools of flash to feel comfortable using it as the platform to make this work. I'd like to be able to switch out images/links as necessary, and feel good about my ability to use flash to do that.

I've recently followed a tutorial to make a scrolling thumbnail panel that goes up when you down and down when you go up. est. This has worked perfectly will the script below...However Im looking to make an alteration to this so that when you are not on "stoke" the "panel" stops moving. Its currently set to not move until you role over on to it originally, however after that when you are not on the panel it continues to move when you stroll across the rest of the page miles away from the panel.

I have a spark List with an item renderer and a tile layout. If I scroll by clicking with the mouse on the scroll bar and trying to scroll with the mouse wheel after that, there is a problem: The interval of the scrolling is oversized, instead of scrolling one item down (or up) the List scrolls 4 items down (or up).

This is a repost, but I've still not figured out a solution. I have a Flash movie that appears on a webpage. The Flash contains scrolling content ( scrollpane, text field, whatever).
The containing webpage is tall, and therefore also has scrollbars. My Problem: When users try to use the MouseWheel to scroll through my Flash scrolling data, the browser page scrolls as well. It's very annoying.
I would like to be able to have the MouseWheel scroll my Flash scrolling content when it's over the flash, but scroll the webpage when it's not over the Flash.
Does anybody know a way to supress wheel-based browser page-scrolling while my mouse is over a Flash movie??? Is there a way to eat/stop propagation, whatever, of the wheel event in the brwoser, either from Flash or from Javascript?

I have been working on a site that will display a portfolio for a friend of mine who is a photographer. I want to have thumbnails that can be scrolled on the bottom of the page, and an area where the thumbnail is presented when selected. I have the thumbnails appearing. If I am to import an image and I wish to use it as a sprite or something like that; How do I remove the white areas? For example, if I was going to create a custom cursor or something like that, an I was to use this image: Image - how would I remove the white areas, so that they are transparent. I would also like to know if it is possible to set where the center of rotation in an image is?I do all my image work on Photoshop, if that is of any significance.

So created a Sprite to which I add other Sprites which are game tiles. Each tile is 60 x 60 px big. In result I've the Sprite with about 200 childs (those tiles).When I try to startDrag() the container sprite the lag when moving it is very noticeable..
Is there a way like to join the tile Sprites so the container would have only 1 child Sprite instead of 200? Because it lags so much probably cause it needs to move (change the x and y) all those 200 tiles.. Am I correct?In this case I can't use the cacheAsBitmap property, cause user can zoom in or zoom out the map..

I'm currently building a slideshow application using the MVC pattern, as it stands the application works by going to the next picture by clicking the photo or controlling the slides with a next/prev button.
i am trying to add additional navigation so that there are thumbnails of the images loaded with XML so the user can click the image and go straight to the image clicked on.
thats easy enough i could add buttons manually with thumbnails in them but it would tedious to update the photography or artwork when it comes to increasing or reducing the number of photos.
so what i plan is that ,when the application loads it reads and counts the images Thumnails in the XML file,then the AS3 generates thumbnail icons according to the amount of images counted in the XML File, then places them on the stage in a sequence next to each on the stage. as a sequence of thumnails with can then be used to navigate around the library with more control and is easy to update simply by changing the XML file.[code]...

How can insert sprites from the IDE? When I press f8 the only options are MovieClip, Buttons and Shapes. If I export to ActionScript I can change the class to Sprite, but I want to insert a Sprite directly from the IDE.

I'm making a picture gallery. I have a thumbnail container, which contains a mask and a dynamically generated mc called "thumbnail_mc". Thumbnail_mc contains all the sprites of the thumbnails.When I click on a thumbnail, the thumbnail get's a glow filter added to it. Now, I want to remove all filters on all the other sprites before I apply that filter to the Sprite.
This is what I'm trying to do:

I have a function that adds a player to a sprite containerwhen that player is clicked a hit test is done on the tiles surrounding that player that it can move to and put into an array.all that works fine.my problem is after I add more than one player to the stage I can only move the latest addition when I use MapInfo.player.x = (hexagon_width * .25) + hexagon_x_position-90;I thought if I used getChildByName I might get around making a custom event.but I get an Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. when I use the code below
