ActionScript 3.0 :: Any Way To Delay Tween Class

Jul 20, 2009

I've been looking for a way to delay a Tween using the AS3 Tween class instead of Tweener, Tweenlite, LMZ, etc. Most of the responses I've found declare Tweenlite the easiest and requiring the least amount of code. I finally found a solution for the Tween class:

Code:
// the masking code;
import fl.transitions.Tween;
import fl.transitions.easing.*;
var twn:Tween = new Tween(my_clip,"width",Regular.easeInOut,1,300,1,true);
twn.stop(); // stop the tween right away,
setTimeout(twn.start,1000); // start the tween after 1 second;

And that's it. I wanted to share. One of the challenges I face in my agency is handing off code to someone else who doesn't have any of the tween libraries installed so I have to walk them through it. The Flash Tween Class is not so bad, if you ask me.

ActionScript 2.0 :: How To Delay OnRollOver Tween

Jun 22, 2008

I coded a website menu to xscale each navigation item for 1.5 seconds when you rollover it. The problem is if you place the cursor on the edge of the item it repeats the xscale tween over and over again. You can view the nav at [URL]. Is there a way to set a delay between tweens so it diesn't start the next tween until the previous is finished? I tried adding a delay but it only performs the tween once.

Here is my code:
bannerservice_mc.onRollOver = function () {

var scaleBannerRolloverService:Tween = new Tween(bannerservice_mc, "_xscale", Elastic.easeOut, 50, 100, 1.5, true);

AS :: Professional - Create Delay Before Tween Or Function?

Jun 25, 2010

I have a number of cases where I have a tween happening in ActionScript, but I would like it to happen after a delay from the event that triggers it. At the moment I'm creating this delay by having a tween that does nothing (eg. an "_x" tween for which the start and end points are the same) and then using tween1.onMotionFinished = function(){to create the one I really want. Is there a way to create this delay more neatly?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Delay A Tween So Other Tweens Can Finish First?

I am having trouble figuring out the best way to delay a tween if a mc is still tweening? I tried setInterval but couldn't figure out how to make it work at least in this context... i have several functions that might be causing the slider_mc to be tweening at any moment (including this one...), and i need the buttons to respond (eventually) to the users press even if they hammer it... but if they do the tween gets interupted and starts from some uneven _x and gets out of alignment. It should only be moved + or - 100 pixels at a time....

ActionScript 3.0 :: Avoid The Starting Delay When A New Tween Added?

Mar 22, 2011

I am using GTween to tween multiple tweens one after the other (Ex: casino slots). I am tryng to give the effect of reel spinning in casino slots. First, started with two tweens for 3 symbols per each tween, 1 tween will be shown on the screen and other will be added above it which is not shown as the reel shown area is masked. I am trying to add new tweens on completion of each previous tween, but due to the starting delay when each Tween is added, there are showing some gaps between the symbols in reels.

how to avoid the starting delay when a new tween added.

IDE :: Movie Clips Contents Alpha At Different Rate During Tween Class Tween

Mar 4, 2010

If i have a clip with a bunch of stuff inside it (on layers) like other clips, bitmaps, etc. and perform a tween on that clip (via tween class), the stuff inside the clip seems to alpha at different rates.

For instance, i have a clip with an empty movieclip which loads a bitmap image and on top of the bitmap image, i have a gradient feathered edge (.png) bitmap and on top of that I have some dynamic text (embedded fonts).

The bitmap is supposed to create a feathered edge on the photo but since they alpha at different rates, you always see the hard edge of the photo...

is there a solution like cacheAsBitmap which would let the whole clip alpha at once? If it's cacheAsBitmap, i must be using it incorrectly, b/c it's not working!

ActionScript 1/2 :: Change Tween Properties Outside Constructor In Tween Class?

Oct 2, 2010

Am trying to use the Tween class to scale and move a movieclip. Now the movieclip is within the loader, so I need the motion to be controlled by the percentage loaded. Now the code to move the movieclip to its final position is:

var xscaletween:Tween = new Tween(mstone, "_xscale", Regular.easeOut, mstone._xscale, 220, 6, true);

But this is the final location, I want to be able to change the properties of xscaletween, yscaletween, xmovetween and ymovetween as per percentage loaded.As in, within this final boundary limit of the tween, I want, for example, xscaletween, to scale only till 140 till percentage hits 50. Is this possible?? If not is there a workaround?Or do I have to use new tweens within each percentage limit?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Tween Class - Tween Back To The Original Position?

Oct 27, 2009

I am trying to understand the thinking behind motion tweening using AS3 (rather than doing it on the timeline).I am trying to create a simple platform game, and while this is simply a learning project, I have an movieclip instance on the stage, and using basic x+5 logic I can get the instance to move left and right on the stage accordingly.Trying to make the instance 'jump' is a bit trickier. This is the code I am using:

ActionScript Code:
import fl.transitions.Tween;
import fl.transitions.easing.*;
import fl.transitions.TweenEvent;[code].....

I thought this code would move the instance from it's current y-position and tween it to it's highest jump point. From here I planned to use a MOTION.FINISH event to tell it to tween back to it's original position.Something strage happens though, rather than tween from the current y position and move up, the instance instantly transforms it's position to y+100 and then tween back to the original position. So it kind of turns out that it is the second part of the jumping action that I want to create.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Delay Constructor Code In Document Class?

Jul 20, 2011

I'm learning how to work with a document class. Using the class below, I am learning that this initiates immediately when running the Fla. The problem is that the "scrol" Movieclip is not present in the first frame, which is a menu with a list of topics. Scrol comes later in and is in it's own section/frame label and goes to that section when selected from the main menu of topics.

Is there a way I could call this action only when the Movieclip is present or when that section is shown? Also, I'd like to apply it to other movieclips, not just scrol. Underneath se = new SwipeEngine(scrol,400,0); can I just add a duplicate line but change the mc name? A possible concern is that the mcs may be different sizes in length and might not need to scroll as far.

I would expect that given instance of class could be assigned to many different variables and any background updates using one variable would accessible using any of the other variables. This doesn't seem to be the case.I have a test class, XMLDataLoader, which is coded as follows:

ActionScript 2.0 :: LoadVars OnLoad Delay In External Class File?

Mar 25, 2012

I'm building an external class file that other developers can use to include a set of functions that essentially read and write data to MySQL via PHP.

The idea is that their AS2 script calls a method in my class which uses LoadVars to verify the data passed to it and write it to a database, and then it returns a value back to the AS.

I'm having a problem where the delay in waiting for OnLoad means that the calling AS function gets an undefined value back. i.e.

var returnValue=myClass.myMethod(params);

This (I assume) is setting returnValue instantly, despite the fact that LoadVars can take a little while to work.

What's the recommended/normal way to deal with this? I don't want to have to bring the OnLoad part of the process back into the developer's script, it would be nice to keep it all in the class. is there a way to make the calling script wait for a response?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Using The Tween Class?

Dec 31, 2006

I've started using the Tween class as I find it to be a really quick way to create some smooth animations. However, what I would like to do is have a sequence of many different objects animating into the scene, but all using the Tween class.Now if they were all to animate in at the same time that would be fine - but what I would like to achieve is each object to animate in one at a time, so once 1 object has finished, the next one then animates in etc etc over until all 7 are animated in. I've read up a little on using continueTo etc but not sure how to get this to affect different mc's instead of self.
