ActionScript 3.0 :: Control Animation Play() And Stop() From Class
May 22, 2009
I have created some functions to manage timed pause/play in an animation and I am trying to make a class from them, but it does not work, the play() and stop() functions I use have no effect. The functions work as intended when not in the class.
Here is my code:
package anim {
import flash.utils.Timer;
import flash.events.TimerEvent;
[Code]...
I checked that the functions are executed with the trace() and it is the case, so the problem really comes from the play() and stop() functions, and I do not receive any error at compilation or runtime.
I have a movie clip on the main timeline with an instance name odometer_mc. nested in that mc there are seven movie clips, two are named m100_mc, and km1_mc. I want to get km1_mc to play when m100_mc gets to frame 20.
I have a product that I am showing call-outs on. Little dots that when rolled over trigers an animation and displays information about the feature. This in itself is no problem, I have seven of these set up as buttons that work when rolled over. However, the people I am setting this up for would like the animations to be on auto play when the user is not interacting with the flash piece within a greater page. I thought I could just build a movie clip with all of the animations compiled and let them run on a layer and then when a users curser came into view of the flash piece it would stop the movie and allow for the user to manually rollover the features.
needless to say, new to as3... What I want to do is control start and stop of stage playhead with keyboard control. What I have so far is the stop control, but cant figure out the play. I have tried setting a var and boolean, but am doing something wrong =( // heres my code
I am trying to control Sound with actionscript and play and stop buttons.
This is the script I have in frame one of my scene.
[Code]...
playB is the instance of the play button stopB is the instance of the stop button the sound intro is on its own layer and is selected as a streaming sound. My problem is that when I stop and start the sound with the buttons the sound starts from the beginning instead of playing from the frame it is in.
my problem is (for now) i have a sprite with animation (7 frames) and two buttons. One button moves the sprite right at 15 units on mouse down, the other moves him backwards.
two things..
1. When i release the mouse, the sprite stops mid-animation, with 1 foot in the air. how do i get it to complete its cycle after the button has been released?
2. is there a way to flip, horizontally, my sprite so when i click the LEFT arrow, he turns around? Or do i have to mirror the sprites myself as new images?
i cant attach my FLA, but here is my code copy/pasted. btn_right.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, onDown); btn_right.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, onUp);

I am trying to make a play, pause and stop btns controlling a mp3 file which is in the library which has a linkage id of Speakers. I've manage to get the pause and play to work but now incorporating a stop button isn't working for me
To say basically if you have pressed the pause btn, then the play btn, play from state pause at, but if you have pressed the stop btn then pressed the play btn, play from start and also if the play btn has been pressed and the audio is playing if pressed again dont play again do nothing.
i'm looking for some class that does something similar to what mcTween2's method "frameTo" but with looping on the end of the movieClip.what i need is to control a 3d animation (frame by frame) with the mouse, - drag to rotate.
I'm doing my company website. When a mouse event sends you to my services page I have 4 seperate blocks of text that fade in. So far I have the first 2 texts blocks fading in at the same time. I want to stagger the timing so the second block of text starts its fade in a fraction of a second later, and so on with the remaining text blocks. Below is the code I've used to fade them in at the same time. Is there an easy way to adjust this code to achieve the desired effect.[code]....
I was looking for a way to create play, stop, rewind and fast forward buttons for an animation I created in Flash. I found a nice description at republicofcode.com/tutorials/flash/controller_bc/, but after trying the code for stop and play I get the error: Access of possibly undefined property onRelease through a reference with static fl.controls:button.
I have a project which consists of 4 frames (+ one starting frame), where each frame contains a Timer class based-animation. You can visit each frame by selecting the appropriate button.
Let's say the animation in frame1 lasts for a total of 30 seconds, but I'm too impatient to watch it and decide to go frame2, which also I don't like. In the background however, the animation for frame1 is still running, for when I go to frame 2 and go back to frame1, the animation starts both from the beginning and also continues to play from where I left off.
I also get an error:
TypeError: Error #1009: Kan geen eigenschap of methode benaderen via een verwijzing naar een object dat null is. at fl.transitions::TransitionManager/saveContentAppearance() at fl.transitions::TransitionManager/set content() at fl.transitions::TransitionManager()
give me the actionscript for a bar that has a play and stop button to play and stop frames in a flash movie. i would be gratefull if you could as i am really stuck
I'm creating a photo gallery using pure AS3. Currently I have a Document class that is a Sprite with a timer to switch out images, and I need to add Play/Pause/Stop controls to this class using pure AS3 (no adding buttons/symbols to library or stage).
when you go to the home.html page an animation will play from start and then stop at the end of it. However, for all other pages i.e contact.html aboutus.html we need the animation to skip to the end straight away and not to play the whole animation through. I was thinking this would be controlled by a variable or some kind of external text file ect. Basically in the first frame the actionscript needs to basically say
"if this html page is aboutus.html then go to the last frame and stop" and with the index page it would say "if this html page is index.html then keep playing"
I have a certain set of motion twains that I've successfuly completed, they constantly loop right now (default), and is saved in the SWF file.I'd like to take that finished looping animation, and insert it within another animation (a) that can be played with a play button, and stopped/resetted with a stop button.How do I insert the completed looping animation into the main animation? And is there something special I have to do in the actionscript of the start and stop buttons so that the "inner" looping animation will start and stop with the "outer" main animation?
i have a over and out animation but i only want to play the out animation when the over animation has completely finished and the same with out animation. i have this code
I just got Flash CS3. I'm trying to get my main timeline to stop in the begining, on button press to play and at the end stop again. In AS2, you would just put stop(); on the first keyframe and stop(); on the last key frame and program your buttons accordingly.
The stop(); does not work!!!! It's driving me crazy. What am I missing? I've gone through the tutorials in Flash and they don't work either.Also, if you have MovieClip that contains an animation and you don't want the movie clip to be on a continuous loop how do you stop it from playing. In AS2, I would put a stop(); on the last keyframe of the movieclip's animation. This also does not work in AS3.
Is it possible to play and stop a number of frames later, without using stop() in the frames? Like when I click a button frame 20 will start playing and it stops 30 frames later, all defined by the actions of the button..

I have created two buttons for separate audio files. Essentially if you click on the button it will play and stop. This works great! I have also injected a SoundMixer.stopAll(); to ensure if you click between both buttons that it will stop the current audio file to play the next one. My problem is when I select the 2nd button for the first time everything seems to be working...it's when I attempt to click on the first button again, that it will require 2 clicks and then it stops and plays accordingly...anyone know how I could eliminate this annoying two click process?
I want a movie clip (let's call it homecontent_MC) with 100 frames play to frame 80 and stop.Then when someone clicks a button on the navigation bar (home, about, services, contact, etc...) homecontent_MC would then begin playing from it's position (frame 80) til it reaches 100, at which point it wouldn't be on screen, and the movie clip that corresponds to the navigation button press (say services_MC...) would start from frame 1 and continue til it stops at it's frame 80...
I have modified the original to include more head shots accompanied by audio clips. I have worked out the playing of the clips on release. I realize now that people may not want to listen to entire clip. Each mug shot serves as the button to hear the person talk. I do not know how to modify the button code for it to be a toggle. I guess it would need to be some kind of "play if, stop if" The only part of concern is loading playing the the audio, no changes need to be made to the rollover functionality.
mugWidth = 60; //change these if you change the size of your mugshots mugHeight = 60; //change to your mugshot height //instantiate sound and textformat classes
How do I stop a class file from automatically inserting itself into the .fla file. I want to insert it manually into a frame, and then tell it to stop after I leave the frame.The following is the code included in my .as file.
I need to call the class into to my control as file. The problem I'm getting now is this error. "environmentTab.lightsButton.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, selectLights);" environmentTab is a instance name of a movie clip that is on the stage of my .
