ActionScript 3.0 :: Controlling Labelled MovieClip On Stage From A Child .as File
Jun 20, 2009
I have an FLA file with a movieclip on the stage which is labelled "blok", and a button on the stage labelled "button1". This FLA is attached to a file called main.as through the document class.
In the same folder where I am storing main.as I have a second .as file called secondFile.as. I have imported this class into main.as using: import com.tests.secondFile;
and in the constructor of main.as I have put:
loadB=new secondFile(button1);
addChild(loadB);
Within secondFile.as my constructor looks like this:
public function secondFile(button1:SimpleButton){
button1=button1;
button1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, buttonPushed);
}
[Code]....
Basically I'm trying to get the MovieClip labelled "blok" to move by 50 pixels on the stage when button1 is pressed, but when I test my FLA I get the following error:
1119: Access of possibly undefined property blok through a reference with static type flash.displayisplayObjectContainer.
I would have thought that this.parent.blok would control my movieclip labelled blok on the stage of my FLA from within secondFile.as since secondFile.as is a child of main.as which is the document class of my FLA, but obviously this is not right.
how to access labelled items on the stage from within a child object.
This code is currently contained within my "mc_1" movieclip. I want to be able to have this code on my main timeline, however no matter what I try I constantly get errors, multiple different versions. I've tried adding mc_1 infront of everything, but that just gives an output error about a Sprite.Also, I'm currently using visible to control whether the back image to the textbox should show - What I'd really like to do is control it using a child, but they're movieclips not buttons, so when I try to addChild within the function it errors saying I'm trying to control a movieclip within a simplebutton function.
If I import pgming from one AS into an overall one like this:
import asFiles.slideshow.*; public var slideshowAS:Slideshow; //then later:
[code]...
how do I control one object that is within that child .as file from the parent .as file?so for instance if in the slideshowAS there is an item called "nextBtn" and I want to be able to do something with it in the parent main menu .as file.
If I import pgming from one AS into an overall one like this:
[Code]...
how do I control one object that is within that child .as file from the parent .as file? so for instance if in the slideshowAS there is an item called "nextBtn" and I want to be able to do something with it in the parent main menu .as file. If you could even direct me on what to search under I that would be very helpful! I tried googling it but did not know how to search for it.
I feel like I should know this by now, but I'm having trouble. I want a function in one of my child functions to increment an integer in its parent function.
I am currently having problems referencing a MovieClip child which I add to the Stage from the Document Class. Basically when the MovieClip child is added to the Stage from the Document Class, I want a certain MovieClip already on the Stage to reference it once it is on the Stage.
Also, if it is possible, I don't want the MovieClip referencing the child being added to the Stage to have parameters linking it with the Document Class, because I plan on nesting this MovieClip within another MovieClip later on in the future.
Here is the code for the MovieClip class which is referencing the child once it is added to the Stage:
I am using the following code to generate a bullet (I have a bullet it the library linked Bullet):
ActionScript Code: function createBullet (bulletSpeed:Number, startx:Number, starty:Number) { var bullet:MovieClip = new Bullet(); bullet.x = startx;
[Code].....
upon the bullet.x getting to less that 50 it deletes the movieclip ok (other instances of the bullet are still onstage, which is what I want) but it gives the error:
ActionScript Code: ArgumentError: Error #2025: The supplied DisplayObject must be a child of the caller. at flash.display::DisplayObjectContainer/removeChild() at Function/<anonymous>()
I am trying to make a "Achtung! die kurve" - like game in Actionscript 3.0. So far I've done the movement of one of the 'worms', and it works alright. I wanna divide it into different class files, but I can't seem to get it to work. I have a .fla file and 4 .as files. So far I only have code in two of these. When I put all my code directly into the fla file, it works perfectly fine, but when I put it into my player class, it won't 'add the child' to the stage. Here is my player .as file: [URL].
The reason why I commented the addChild, is because I wanna do this in my mainFile.as. This is from the main file: [URL]. I'm not quite sure how to call it in the main file, so I'm guessing that this would be the issue. All the files are named and placed correctly in the same folder, and flash says that each of my .as files are targeting the .fla file, so this doesn't seem to be the issue. How I can change the speed of my sprite.
I am trying to load a swf into a holder movie clip from the child movieclip.It's parent has a holder that i want to load a swf into.I am navigating from within a child clip.It would be nice to have the swfs load from an external xml file but it isn't mandatory.
i have a parent movieclip mcA and i want to add another movieclip mcB (child movieclip) inside mcA such that the extra part of mcB is hidden. The size of movieclip remains same as of mcA
For ex:-
mcA = 300x300 mcB = 400x400
then only 300x300 of mcB movieclip is visible and rest of the part is hidden.
I have been trying all day to find a solution to this, to no avail.. My project has a frame built in flash that loads an external swf via the addChild command. In that external swf, there is an FLV playback component that plays videos on the video tab. (There are home, video, web and contact tabs all in the parent swf) What I want, is for the FLV component to stop playing the video when one of the other tabs is clicked in the parent swf..
I have loaded a SWF and attached to a MovieClip which exist in my current movie using the following code, and now I just want to access the loaded SWF to send it orders like play() or gotoAndPlay(); I have tried also: container= MocieClip(loader.content); instead adding child, but it trhows an error
I have a line chart with 4 line series with diamond, circle, box and triangle as item renderer for the plots for these 4 line series.Now my requirement is I want to show labels for the plots in the chart. It should be like this : I tried with some item renderes but not getting it correctly since I want to use the circles and triangles to render the plots.
i'm a designer trying to step up my flash skills and have a scripting problem that's causing me trouble. essentially i have a child swf loaded into a container in a parent swf and want the child to be able to instruct the parent. to explain in full, the child contains an flv with bespoke video player components. it's container sits in one frame of the parent. when the flv finishes playing, i need the parent swf to move onto another frame. as it's a controllable flv, it isnt possible to predict the exact length of time the child will need to be present, so it literally needs to tell the parent it's finished playing at that very point.
I have a mainSwf in which I load an external swf, which loads an external swf.( a child of a child). I am trying to set the framerate via AS3 for the childs child by using stage.frameRate= 15;
It doesnt work when the children are loaded into the mainSwf. how to access the stage of a child's child? I have tried root, Movieclip, this but can not get it to work
I have a MovieClip named "all_Pages" inside of it has timeline tweening on its child "pg" which has sets of pages as child of pg on framesHere is the problemI am trying to execute the code written on all_pages first frame which is 6th frame
all_pages.pg.gotoAndPlay(6); while executing all_pages.gotoAndPlay(1); // timeline tweening i.e
stop(); //setting up the list of frame names for the buttons imagelist = ["horror","legs","chair"];[code]....
So my problem is that on the button release it doesn't go to the frame that I labelled .My button symbol is called b_next with instance name of next_b. So don't think thats the problem. Is it because I made an array that equals the instance name of my frames?
I have a movieclip on stage, but I want to move it or animate it with the use of an .as file, how do I refer to a movieclip on stage through a .as file?
Is this even possible or do I have to pass the actual movieclip as a parameter to a function of the class?
To make things more clear, here is my code:
Code on main timeline:
Code: var myBox:Box = new Box(); myBox.x = 80; myBox.y = 160;
i am slightly confused about the parent and child relationship. lets assume we have several different instances, what would be difference of adding them all as children of the stage and creating a parent-child hierarchy between them(other than the access path).
Does flash have an equivalent to Flex'sApplication.application.[insert application method or propertyI want to get access from an as3 class file to the mainstage. a call to this.root from the stage to the class will notwork because I need the root object stage to execute an addChild
I want to load my external SWF file using the following code in "Panel4_mc" instead of on stage. How can I do it" function btnClick(event:MouseEvent):void {
i have dynamic buttons in movieclip and i want the movieclip goto 2nd frame once some one click single movieclip while rest remains in 1st frame.the movieclips can be in arrayi have some code here:
Actionscript Code: var mc:MovieClip = new MovieClip();for(var i:int = 0 ; i < numberOfButtons;i++){ var btn:MovieClip = new button();
me only still learning as3, i've checked google there and back, but somehow i can't find the answer for this: how to target a movieclip instance which is already on the stage from within a class file? i mean, targeting it from the document class file is easy, but what is i want to target it from another class file?
I am loading an external swf file/movieclip onto the main stage - it is a simple transition and once it has finished playing, I want to jump to a frame in the main stage.I've loaded the movieclip onto the stage, but don't know how to jump to another frame after it has played and stopped...what's needs to be added to this to goto a frame on the main stage........
