I've been playing with the random motion code from the vibrate tutorial.I like the effect I'm getting but I'm wondering if it's possible to write some code to animate the movement between the random jumps the objects make.I'm trying to create random motion with smooth transitions.
View 1 RepliesWhat library/API or even a program for converting flash code into html 5 code automatically do you recommend me?
View 2 Repliesconverting the following code (i got from some site, i can't remember which) to on-frame code:
Code:
onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
with (_root.player) {
// Controls Player Speed
[Code].....
Basically its a movement and hittest script for a maze. It works great but I need it running within an onEnterFrame in the frame code.
Currently the code is on a clip which contains the clip "walls". and player is on the _root timeline.
I'm looking for some help converting as3 code to pixelbender code in an attempt to improve the performance of my application. This as3 code goes as follows. I scan through the Number values of a bytearray in chunks. Lets say this chunk lenght was 100 numbers I read 2 numbers (left and right) and try find the maximum values. The numbers in my bytearray are PCM data so there is millions of them and this code can often take a long time to execute, especially on a low spec machine.
The whole aim of this is to render a waveform as quickly as possible. I know very little about pixel bender. I can basically make a new file and create a shaderJob of it in flash but I'm really uncertain how to approach this...

i am a bit lost. i make a prototype function that randomly scales a box when i click on the stage. i got the scaling right, but why does it move around when it scales? here is the swf: scaleEase
here is the code:
[AS]MovieClip.prototype.scaleEaseTo = function(ease)
{
[code]....
So I got this from the tut on this site and it's works great.I can't figure out though how to make the speed random as well as the movent. I want all my little clips to move at random speeds in adition to direction.

is there a code for Actionscript 2.0 for the "Auto-Resizing and Centering your Content" Tutorial all my code is in AS2 and i cant change it.url...I get an error in AS2 in the line function updateSize(e:Event)
View 1 Repliesi have a .swf which i have downloaded on the internet it is a animation that i would very much like to have it in my .swf however, when i am loading it and trying to control the .swf i get a error code.TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert flash.display::AVM1Movie@10d52701 to flash.display.MovieClip.
i searched the net for this error and it is because the .swf is compiled in as1/2 therefore i am unable to get it's "object" and control it.i have also decompiled the .swf and read the codes, but the codes are mostly done in as1/2 and i have no clue what it does, as i just started learning as3 , and have never touched as1/2.the below is the code decompiled, from what i understand it is used to "shift" the parts of the animation. which is a "fish" body part, to create a very smooth, swimming action. i have tried converting it to as3 code but i get errors where it cant find the variables.
function corps(objet)
{
i = 0;
for (;;) [code].............
Since Action Script is an interpreted language, and it is clear by decompiling animations that the code is still in there, is there any function that lists the code of a function or class as a string?asically, I want to create a suite of components for developers that lets them make modifications to or at least view the code behind a component while the animation is running, and that way make it easier to find bugs, instead of having to stop the animation, dig up the code for that class, and recompile it. It would be even handier if it was possible to edit code while the code was running, so the next time Flash encounters that code, it will instead run the new code. Yes, if used unwisely, that could cause a lot of problems, but the benefit outweighs the risk, and that feature is used in such development environments such as Visual Studio.
Likely, the only solution to that would be to give each class a "code" variable, likely a String. Then when the users click the button to view that certain source, it checks for the "code" variable and displays the contents. The problem is that you have to remember to update the variable each and every time Perhaps I can write an extension for FlashDevelop that does that automatically? It could just update that variable at compile time.
Currently I have sketched out this small code just to see how it might work. Each text box receives a seperate word one is the game word/the other is a hint. I was hoping to have a new one appear each time I tested the Movie but I cannot seem to get it.
import flash.net.URLLoader;
import flash.events.Event;
var allWords:Array;
[Code]....
Are there any other swf to HTML converters, I know there is Wallaby and Swiffy from Google, but does anyone know any others, that support ActionScript. I want to convert a swf file to HTML, but the swf has some ActionScript (AS3) code inside it that is used to populate the swf. I want to be able to convert this into HTML and use JavaScript to populate the HTML version.
View 1 RepliesThis will probably seem a moronic question, but I've only been using Actionscript for about a week... Either way, I've written a very long and complicated (8500 lines w/ autoformat) code for a game I've decided to program. The game is functional, the AI can respond to outside inputs etc, and I know reasonably well how to use SharedObjects.
What I'd now like to do is make a menu system surrounding my game that can pass variables in and out of this existing program. The program is currently in the shapely form of a Document Class, meaning the code runs on load. I'd prefer if there was a way to simple make the code run upon being called. How would I best do this? The only inputs presently used are keyboard inputs...
I have the following code for a game how can I extract pieces of the god for example the enemy and make it run as an external class as via seperate .as file?
Code:
import fl.transitions.Tween;
import fl.transitions.easing.*;
import fl.transitions.TweenEvent;
import flash.media.Sound;
import flash.net.SharedObject;
[Code] .....
convert this code from AS2 to AS3?
Code:
Timer = function () {
};

i've applied the following script to a movieclip to change its 'y' coordinate randomly at run time and it works fine but i'm also trying to control the maximum 'top' and maximum bottom 'y' movement for which the value should be: top = 40 and bottom = 400. so it only displays randomly between 40 to 400 'y' coordinate. could you tell me how can i implement this in the following script?
onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
_x -= 4;
if (_x<=-2247) {
[code]....
I converted a .swf file into .fla file using Sothink SWF Decompiler. I can open the file with Adobe Flash Professional CS5, but I cant see the source code. The only thing that I see is the timeline layers. I want to change the background picture of the Flash and save it as .swf.
View 1 RepliesI've been trying to simply get random movement on a MC on my stage.
Most of the tutorials I come across deliver jittery motion, not smooth eased motion.
Also, I'm trying this script found here: [URL]
The random motion looks great! .... but I can't stop the MC from moving to the top left of my stage. The script isn't setup to restrict the motion within a given area on the stage. I tried modifying it, got nowhere!
I wanted to built an enemy that is able to move on stage randomly in xposition and perhaps able to detect my character within the detectable zone and chase after me.. but currently I just wanted to make the enemy move randomly in x-position for starter.
It is my first time making and enemy with AI, but I'm just wasn't sure where to begin, I have used a fairy easy script to animated the movieclip in the beginning but got stucks whenever it reaches 960 or below 0 of the stage
addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME,initGames);
function initGames(e:Event):void{
moveEnemy();
}

I have an IK chain of 3 dots. I would like to put random movement on one of the dots 'pt1' so that is randomly bounces around my screen while the other 2 dots follow - something like a snake. However when I put this code on 'pt1' which is a movie clip by the way it simply will not work.
ActionScript Code:
onClipEvent(load){
xDir=1;
yDir=1;[code].........
I'm trying to make an object to move randomly across x-axis and while it moves back and forth it also scales in width.
View 3 RepliesI have the following clipEvent on a movieclip called square:
onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
xmove = (xpos-this._x)/5;
this._x += xmove;

I am looking at the Kirupa code for random movement (Random movement in Flash MX), and I am trying to figure out if I can limit the movement to the shape of an oval.
I want to do an overhead shot of a bunch of little people swiming in an oval swimming pool.
I'm trying to achieve random motion of my movie clips limited from stage left to stage right. I've read the following tutorials:
[URL]
both are helpful. However, I don't want mouse position to affect anything (as it does in the 'continuous movement' tutorial). The 'random motion' code is pretty close...if I just knew what part of the code to modify to limit motion from left to right.
i want to make a movement. An object has to come from behind an object and go back again.The interval between each time the object appears has to be random.i was trting to maken something with the setTimer() function, and a random. The random gives a var.This var i would use as time for the object appears in combination with the setTimer().i can't come up with a decent code that would work.Where do i need to define the start vars, adn where do i define the random script.
View 4 RepliesMy knowledge of actionscript is basic, at best. I'm trying to make some animations move randomly by following a very helpful tutorial posted on this site [URL].. And everything was going so well until I tried to use my own initiative to limit the width and height of the movement. This is when I realised that I haven't got a clue what I am doing!
View 10 RepliesI'm trying to move a series of dots (mc used as linkage: "Dot") within a frame to random targets, with the movement activated by onRollOver. This part I have working fine. The part I'm having difficulty with is getting the objects to have target coordinates to move randomly, except rounded to the nearest 12 pixels. Here's the relevant code:
Code:
minx = 120;
maxx = 450;
miny = 20;
[code]....
I did the Flash MX Random Movement tutorial, and it worked fine. But i want the objects that move to be links, so that when the mouse is placed over them, the word for the link pops up, and i want them to be buttons.
View 1 Repliesdid the tutorial on my pc (mac) and de .swf work, but if i upload it, it does not run either.Another question. is it possible that the random movement may only occur in a specific area of the movie
View 2 RepliesIf you look at this site and enter site. You will see 2 litle things moving on you screen.I need somthing like this aswell only then for like 50 bugs. I found lots of ways to make this with rondom movement scripts but i also need it to turn. So when its going to the bottom its pointing to the bottom and when its going up its turns pointing up.
