ActionScript 3.0 :: Detect Actual Mouse Position After Quick Motion?

I am replacing the mouse pointer with a custom graphic in an .swf that takes up part of a web page (.swf stage is about 350px wide, total layout is about 1000px). My code is all working fine, except that, if you move the mouse fairly quickly -- as you might do to get from a point on the .swf to the opposite side of a large monitor -- the .swf loses track of the mouse, and thinks that the ._xmouse/._ymouse values are still the same as the last point that that Flash saw the mouse, which is usually somewhere in the middle of the stage, thus "orphaning" the custom cursor. If I have a setInterval or something tracing the mouse position, the .swf still thinks that the mouse is sitting on top of it, even though the cursor is actually far away somewhere else. hitTest also still returns true as though the mouse was there (as you might expect, given that it's based on _xmouse/_ymouse).

The workaround/hack I have going now is that, once the pointer switches over to the custom cursor, it starts a setInterval, and then if the mouse appears not to move for a few seconds, it reverts back to the default cursor (i.e., Mouse.show). Obviously, this is not optimal, because that means that the custom cursor disappears if you don't move the mouse for a second or two, and it doesn't really solve the problem anyway because it still looks like the custom cursor gets stuck for a second when you move too fast.

Is there any way in flash in which i can control the position of the mouse? i need to be able to reset the mouse to a predefined position, but when i do _xmouse=value nothing happens and if i am using mouse._hide and have a movieclip instead of the mouse and do mc._x=value the movie clip goes to my position but as soon as i move the mouse it goes back to the previous position... i need a way to control the ACTUAL "ms windows" position of the mouse ... maybe with Javascript?

The main FLA has buttons linked to external swf files that are nested in a layer inside an html file. When rollover occurs, it opens up corresponding swf file. Problem is that when a user moves mouse too quickly over the stage, the rollout gets stuck in the last button the mouse posssibly passed by.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Mouse Over Actual Panzoom Animation Graphic Causes All To Vanish?

see code below. We have movieClip called Map_Collection (in properties) within which are movie clips BusRoute_42 and BusRoute_43 (in properties) as well as the basic map artwork graphic. These are lines that glow (motion tween alpha1% to 100% to 1%) when buttons outside of the map boundary are clicked on. Buttons sit on Scene1 stage outside of the map area and are named in properties Button42 and Button43
 
Coding also makes the map zoom and pan, using mix of freesource whitecat redcat and greymouse coding for pan and another for zoom with focus at mouse location.
 
The problem:-
1) Map route glows ok when button clicked, and pan zoom is ok until user happens to shove map around just on the location of the glowing line, the entire flash movie then goes white, all artwork vanishes.. Why ? Near it ok, but on it, zappo !

2) zoom works but zoomout eventually inverts then gets larger !

Project:
Reading text from XML document
Text scrolls up, pauses, then automatically scrolls up and off the screen
Text content changes to the next node.

Scene Level:
I have a movie clip named "symbol headline" (see attached screenshot)

Within the MovieClip:
I have 2 dynamic text boxes: headlineText and contentText (see attached screenshot)

The Problem:
Everything works GREAT except there is a slight difference between the TIMER in the ActionScript and the frames in the GUI. That means that after 3 or 4 iterations, the text starts changing before the motion tween is done.

My Idea:
Instead of using a timer in my ActionScript, can I create and Event Listener that listens for when the movie clip starts to replay? If so, HOW ?

I animate a DisplayObject with a Motion XML (exported from Flash). The first time I apply a motion to it, everything works fine. The second time I apply a motion, the position / scale is reset to what it was before I first applied a motion. How can I keep the transform of the DisplayObject after a motion is played when I want to play a new motion ? The problem with this code is that it scales from the registration point (0,0). Due to the other transformations I'm doing to this image at various times, it isn't possible to move the registration point. The image is larger than the stage and the user is able to drag it around. I want the mouse wheel to zoom in on the place the mouse is hovering over (or at a minimum...the center of the "view" they have...aka the stage)I tried doing this:

I'm working on a school project. Below is an image of what I am working on. My cursor in this movie is the heart. When I move my mouse over Hello Kitty she jumps -- but only once. How can I get her to keep jumping when my mouse is over her, and make her stop jumping when I pull away?

Also, because I am new to ActionScript I might have messed up with the motion of the animation. Hello Kitty used to jump continuously without me doing anything. Then I copied the motion code into my ACTIONS layer and put stop(); in the Hello Kitty object code. So, she doesn't jump all the time anymore, just when my mouse moves over her... but she only jumps once and that is the problem. I want her to keep jumping as long as my mouse is over her.

Right now I'm reading the entire text field into an array where the index of the element is the number of the character, like so:var theString:String = 'This is some text.";and the array looks like this:[code]So the getCharIndexAtPoint function with the mouseX and mouseY is used as an index to the array, which returns the correct word.
