ActionScript 3.0 :: Display Outside Boundaries Of Current Stage?
Oct 19, 2009
What do I have to do so that a text field will display outside the boundaries of the current stage? For instance, let's say I have a stage that is 300 x 200, and I want to add a text field that is 100x400
Im am trying to make boundaries on my stage for my MC box1_mc, there are no errors but it doesnt seem to work.. Here is the code..
function limitStageBorder(box1_mc) { var box1_x:Number = stage.stageWidth - box1_mc.width; var box1_y:Number = stage.stageHeight - box1_mc.height;[code]......
I realize there have been a number of other threads on this subject, but none of the solutions seems to be working for me.
I am developing a flash file, that will dynamically load other swf's and play them on screen, but the loaded swfs are displaying things outside of their stage boundaries. I had limited success setting up a custom mask, that masked off all areas outside of the loaded swf. The problem is that when the loaded swf adds dynamic content to the stage, the new content ignores the mask.
Sorry for lack of terminology but I want to create movie clips with moving graphics or objects and so want to see the boundaries of the stage. At present the whole area is filled with my stage colour. A setting somehwere?
I have a movie clip with all my images, this code allows me to go either right or left and decrease the speed either if i go to the right or left. But I want the the scrolling effect to stop when it reaches the end, either left or right side. How do I do that? You can download the fla file here [URL]
I have the AS to move pictures around (like a jigsaw puzzle i guess), im just struggling with setting boundaries so that the pieces cannot be dragged off the stage...
Im presuming setting the boundaries is a matter of adding X and Y values or similar.
I need to use a Timer for time controlled animation, time the drawing to occur every 500 milliseconds & Draw 20 circles in total. I also need to make sure the circles are completely drawn inside the limits of the stage...
import flash.events.TimerEvent; import flash.utils.Timer; // creates a new hundred-second Timer, ticks every 250 milliseconds var faster_minuteTimer:Timer = new Timer(250, 6); // designates listeners for the interval and completion events [Code] .....
Code: function AddYCoins():void { for (var i:int = 0; i < 10; i++) { var Ycoin:YCoin = new YCoin();
[Code]...
This function creates 10 instances of my YCoin and places it around the stage. But i wish the coins to only fall in specific areas, (i.e. i have 8 green rectangles, names area1,area2 etc) because the idea is you have to collect the coins but only staying on the green rectangles.
i knows its the stage.stageWidth i need to change but i cant think what to change it too!
I feel like such an idiot but after trying endlessly I still haven't managed to come up with a way to display the current frame number of nested movie clip ("ecke1") (in a dynamically created text field).The problem really is that I don't know how to have flash keep updating the variable. Here's my latest attempt:
Code: var frame:int = 0; addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME,updateframe,false,0,true);
I have actionscript to control my car. It uses the arrow keys for steering and exceleration and braking. What my question is, do you know how to display my cars current speed.
I am trying to display the current times in 3 different places. On my own computer this works great, but i am not sure if this would work wherever you are, when i change my pc clock the times also change, should they not stay the same?
I've got this code that displays the time but, I want the time to display dynamically, updated by the user's sytem clock so it always displays the "current time".
I would like to display the current date in the bottom part of the calendar on a DateChooser control. Has anyone extended the DateChooser control to do this?
Something like the attached image...
I managed to pull off some codes, but still, I have the slightest idea of how to add the label below the datechooser control.
I'm trying to create a boundary for a player object, controlled with arrow keys, in my game using the main stage's height and width. For example, one test point is at the top edge of the player object's bounding box so that when the player object's head touches the stage's top edge, the player can't move anymore to the north. The player object is manually instantiated to the center of the stage by using the Flash stage editor so it will start at the center before the program starts.The problem is that right at the start of the program, I can no longer move the player object up or down with the arrow keys but I can still move it left or right. The intention is to allow the player to move north until the player object's head touches the top edge of the main stage.[code]
I want to display the current time into a dynamic text box. The time comes correct but the seconds is not running... I want live seconds. what modification should i do to my following code?
How can you display current # of viewers connected to a stream and total views similar to how ustream displays them?Is this done using server side actionscript? Are there any templates and/or examples or tutorials to use to get started?
I have a library swf (asset.swf), it's document class binded to Asset.as, and in the Constructor function of Asset,[code]as known to all, we cannot visit the stage attribute before the display object added to the stage.so, when my loader.swf try to load asset.swf, it throws exception and the loading come to failure is there some one tell me how to load the asset.swf? I cannot modify the asset.swf.
I have a movieclip, which attaches to another movieclip, which scrolls.On click I want to be able to drag that movieclip away from the one it was attached to. When I just removeChild it, it's position changes. I want it to stay in the same spot until it's dragged.Any suggestion, on how I can give it that same position, when not attached?
I have tried this a dozen different ways and I really am at my wits end.
I have a presentation that works like a powerpoint. Everything is working as it should, except one part. I have a movie clip with an instance named slides, and I want to actively display which frame number you are in this move clip.
I have tried more than one why but I see no reason why this should not work:
var frameNum:Number = this.slides.currentFrame; this.frameText.text = "Pquina " + frameNum + " de 173";
It appears to work at first, but does not update when I navigate the slides. It constantly says 1. Before I just added a function to the back and next buttons to frameNum++ and frameNum--, but after I created the Menu I would prefer it to automatically detect what frame it is on.
Is there a way to take a "screenshot" of what is currently being displayed on the stage? Or even better, a part of the stage? Don't get me wrong- I know how to take a screenshot *myself*. What I want is to have an option within the *SWF* to generate a file (jpg, png or gif are all fine) of what the current stage looks like.
It sounds like a fairly easy idea / request but I have no clue how this would be done... It's for a shop (idea) where people can patch together their own design to be printed... but in order to do that, I would have to be able to generate an image of the completed design.? Am I missing something that's already integrated in Flash?
I'm sure you're expecting me to have forgotten to use addChild. I wish it was that easy. I will say I'm very new to AS3.0. I have a movie clip in my library that contains a small PNG file and a text label. The linkage properties are: Class: shapes.HorizontalIcon, Base class: flash.display.Sprite.[code]As far as I can tell this should work. There are no errors. The trace statement above shows up in the output. The parent sprite is also an item from the library. It shows up on the stage. I tried adding a random TextField to the parent sprite it showed up on the stage just fine.Something isn't working right, but I don't know where to start debugging this.
Tell me what needs to be done in order to get item display onto the stage in Action Script 3. I wrote this code to receive RSS Feeds and it seems to work perfectly, however, I can't get it to display on the stage. When I test, it displays code in the "Output" window.
Regarding the code below, when Document class is "Main" [the intended default condition] I do not get the graphics declared in class Thing (ie., in object myThing:Thing) put on stage. Why??? Whereas when I define Document class as Thing, then yes theses graphics do appear on stage. So the syntax itself is OK
