I've been porting a Flex 4 codebase to iOS using the adobe packager, but have run into a snag when trying to package our whole codebase. The packager runs for a while and then throws an OutOfMemoryError - even if I increase the java heap size to 4GB. No single piece of code seems to be causing the problem, as it compiles successfully if I cut out large chunks of code, and I can change which chunks I'm omitting. It might be related to the size of the code itself.I've logged a very detailed bug report with adobe here: ou can package to reproduce the issue, a ruby script that generates actionscript codeto generate that AIRI file, and a summary of all of the things I tried before logging the bug.
View 2 RepliesI am using spring exception translator to wrap java exception into flex exception.
eg
public void testException()throws Exception{
throw new Exception("my exception");
}
But for some reason, I am getting IllegalAccessError. The code sections are entering the testException and the Translator class.
Question: why it trying to get log target level ?
Below is the lines from the log:

we are using BlazeDS as a proxy between Flex and Java. The approach is the same as in

I'm running ant to compile a Flex application, and the build keeps failing when running it on a windows command line. Other people in my team can successfully run the very same build under mac and linux. This is the error shown in the command prompt:
[Code]...
All tokens are set in corresponding build.properties and filter .properties files (and, as I said before, it compiles perfectly under mac and linux). The windows version is 7 Ultimate, FLEX_HOME is set as an environment variable to the Flex SDK 3.5 (the 3.5.0.12683 build that comes with Adobe Flash Builder Burrito). ${compiler.fork} is set to false, to avoid an issue with the SDK and the source files being in different logic drives.
Whenever I debug my AIR app it keeps suspending at a certain line of code...it doesn't give me a reason why, it just says Main Thread (Suspended) No error, no breakpoint at this location either. If I comment out the code so that, that line does not execute, it just does the same thing on a different line of code.

I'm beginner in Flex 4. I'm trying to pop up a Flex WindowTitle custom component, and after the user choose some values, the parent window must be refreshed.I'm showing the modal window, the user can't interact with other components, but the problem I detect is the execution of the program flows, even I choosing to show the Input window as modal, the next methods to refresh the page is called before the user close the modal page. I don't know if flex or ActionScript works different from Java, where I used to code. see the comments on the code example:

Looks like its trying to download the project from maven's central repository instead of building it.
I've built a multilingual ASP.NET web app and no problem . I'm trying to put a flash header for this website so I've made couple flash in different language ( because they are different not just in language , they have tiny different because of different cultures ).how to load specific flash while switching different language .
View 2 RepliesI am writing a simple Tcp server in Unity and have my Flash application connects to it.I found a great tutorial on threaded Tcp server online, and my flash app connects to it nicely. However, I am not able to send data outside of the listening thread to the connected client. I tried to create a global reference of the Tcpclient obtained inside of the thread. However, that reference (sclient) only works inside of the listening thread, printed Null to console outside of the thread. There must be something I can do to retain the TCP client reference for later use or access it from outside of block thread.

this way but it try to return content of <lang> tag.what is the issue..? i will attach my xml file with this..how can i get that <lang > element..?
So I'm working on some localization stuff and I'm using the fl.lang.Locale library in AS3/CS5. I am using the strings panel, and can get stuff to the XML files in the proper XLIFF formats.I am attempting to be able to swap out text (and eventaully assets) at run time using the "Replace strings: via ActionScript at runtime" setting.As it is, I have to reference every text field directly by instance name. I have begun to place those text fields into a Dictionary to line them up with their proper IDS.I have 2 questions.
1) is there a better way to replace all of these text fields? there are a LOOOOOT of text fields spread out across many many scenes. Is there a built in "change all fields" function somewhere that I'm missing?
2) why won't this work.[code]
Till now all the exceptions in my code will cause the host flash player to pop up a window to say there is an exception and the execution will be paused, I am wondering is there any exception/abnormal things that will be detected by flash player but not be popped up?
View 2 RepliesI have a client-server multigame suite for PC ("kind of" cross-platform using cygwin), which is developed in Java(game menus and database management), C++ (server side), and adobe Flash (game graphics & interaction).
I have never tried to develop for android, so i have no experience.I am thinking of migrating this suite to google TV. So i would like someone with android experience to give a clue on the following :
1) Is it going to be easy to migrate the Java application to an Android application?
2) What kind of Flash support does Android have? Can it load directly swf applications? Does it have to load swf's through browser?
3) Can i find any kind of performance indexes for google TV hardware?
I need to load somehow the html code of a webpage A into a javascript string of another webpage B, on a different host. I know this is impossible to do with javascript alone because of the same origin policy, and I know I could do it loading the page via php on my server and then send results back to the user's client but I wouldn't be able to handle so many requests, so I need it to be done directly by the user's browser. I can use nearly whatever browser scripting language/applet framework common enough to be installed on the majority of my users' computers, like flash and java.On example, what if I use flash or java to load the external html code and then call a javascript callback function providing the source? Could this work?
View 2 RepliesIf one doesn't have the source code, the only to test is to send keystroke and mouse move so I found this product but it's not free and opensource price is not even known :([URL] Squish supports automating interactions and testing non-HTML/DOM elements, that is, native objects, which are embedded in a web page. This is done at a fairly abstract level, which means that mouse and text input can be recorded and replayed.
In addition it is possible to inspect embedded native objects with the Spy tool and to insert verifications for these native objects. All of a native object's public properties can be accessed in test scripts.
Is there a way to handle errors and exceptions in AS3 as one would do so using `set_error_handler` and `set_exception_handler` in PHP?
View 4 RepliesHere is an issue i'm struggling to solve for quit some time now.I have a python + GAE backend with a flex client that communicates via JSON. I'm using flex's HttpService bound to a Responder with result and fault callbacks. When python raises an exception, I don't seem to get it in flex. I did some research and found out that the problem probably lies in the fact that the flash runtime cannot handle http responses with status code other than 200.

View 2 RepliesHas anybody had Flash player debuuger suddenly stop working for no reason whatsoever. What I've found so far: - No exception screens popping up.. in ANY browser. Reinstalled debugger version of flash player, no go. - Flashbug not showing in Firebug - No trace calls visible in FlashDevelop - Flash IDE behaves normal.. all trace calls visible - Firefox updated about the same time but problem seems to be on a wider scale This started approximately, on Sunday 8th Januray (or saturday).

View 1 RepliesWhile we have a dedicated AS3 forum, we know that a lot of Flex 2 users will cross back and forth across forums because while Flex's core scripting is MXML, it fully supports AS3 as well so it's confusing sometimes what forum to post in and who is best suited to offer help. A lot of topics have been covered in the last 6-8 months at a lot of the more well known guru sites and popular blogs and as we get going we will link up anything that might be of use to users in here.Url...
View 7 RepliesIn a flash movie, I'd like a user to be able to have a choice of buttons, each of which would add a movie clip. (E.g. If they click button "A" it will add a barking dog, if they click button "B" it will add a running cat, etc.)
I then want the user to be able to e-mail this movie with a PHP form (which I know how to do) but in the URL string, it will load the movie (dog/cat) that the user has selected. That way, when their friend receives the e-mail, it will take them to a page with the flash movie that shows the movieclip their friend chose.
I posted a thread in AS3 forum and uploaded an attachment. I would like to know how to delete an attachment from a thread, after it has been posted. I've been looking for this option, but couldn't find it.

View 1 RepliesI have a method that I want to be enqueued to the UI thread message pump. How is this done in actionscript? Basically I am looking for the equivalent of System.Windows.Deployment.Current.Dispatcher.BeginInvoke() in actionscript.
View 1 RepliesI understand the Flash and AS3 is single-threaded, at least at the user level. I would like to understand how asynchronous data loading is handled by the Flash player.
For instance, if I run CPU-intensive code that runs beyond the normal frame (lets say it runs on ENTER_FRAME, and consumes 1/4 per call). Does this leave any CPU cycles to load data from a URLLoader?
If http loading is truly synchronous, right down to handling the TCP/IP stack, one would get horrible performance. In Windows programming, I can do http access asynchronously (in which case the Windows libraries are doing either input on a separate thread, or doing hardware-level interrupts to handle the data -- I provide an asynchronous callback that may be on its own thread). Or, I can do synchronous download, in which case there will be hardware buffering, but my application is actively waiting for each buffer of data to be delivered by the hardware/OS combination.
URLLoader is asynchronous, but what does that mean? Does it mean that I can run the CPU and still download data? Or, will my download speed slow to a crawl if my Flash application is under heavy CPU load? Understanding how this works will help me design my product better, which both uses a lot of CPU, and downloads a lot of data (to the bandwidth limit of the network, if possible).
I know that the thread concept (as a class) does not exist in as3, but I don't understand very well the internal execution when I'm sending/receiving data via sockects.timer.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, endData);socket.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.SOCKET_DATA, receiveData);(The former event detector is just for sending data every X ms. The second one is activated when I receive something from the socket.)Then, the question is: "sendData" is executing in a different thread that "receiveData"?
