Sites With Multiple Selectable Themes - Cool Option?

Jul 4, 2011

I would like to ask your opinions about sites that have multiple themes available and allow the user to change the theme while navigating the site. What do you think about this? Is it a cool or attractive option? Is it unprofessional? Is it worth the work of development? Have you implemented something like this? I have been thinking about developing a system for a site to allow support for multiple themes but I am not sure if that would be professional and worth it.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Best Option To Display Html

Jul 8, 2009

I'm working on writing a new testing utility for my company, and I'm not sure what the correct answer is on this one. Their existing software uses HTML to give and score online tests, and the HTML works with mod_perl and mysql to send and receive the data. I've got the new system 90% functional, except one part.

the questions and answers are stored in the database AS HTML. They are send to the flash movie via loadvars, and I have even gotten them to start displaying. My problems however are that the images do not seem to be loading properly every time, the scrolling of the textarea doesn't seem to work AT ALL, and even when the images do load, they are not lined up properly (adobe says : "An image loaded using the IMG tag will appear on the screen on the line following the IMG tag." Now why the hell would I want it to do that?!?!?!?!)

ActionScript 2.0 :: Display A Different Text Option Each Time?

Feb 20, 2010

I have a dynamic text box set up called 'circle'. Each time the movie loads I want it to display different text.

Currently, I have

Actionscript Code:
_root.circle="hello","nice to see you", "hello, again";
on the timeline.

Unfortunately, when it loads it just sticks with the first 'hello', instead of choosing one of the other options. How can I tell flash to display a different text option each time?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Firefox Preloader - Progress Bar Doesn't Display

Feb 17, 2006

Discovered yesterday that the preloader I've been working with (loads external SWFs into levels based on this tutorial) which works fine on a local preview and IE, is having some major issues in Firefox. I thought this was a little bizarre at first but have since discovered that it could be something to do with 4 bytes that IE ignores but Firefox has a problem with. I've been searching for a solution that I can use pretty much constantly since then, and I'm stumped. Here's a link if you want to see it in (in)action: link

In IE, everything is good. Page loads, preloader starts at the bottom of the progress bar and progress is acurate. In Firefox, page loads, external swfs DO preload but progress bar doesn't display. When swfs are 100% loaded, the full progress bar appears with my "click to enter" link. But people will definitely have left the page thinking nothing is happening by then.

Php :: Mp3 Player Does Not Play File In Firefox?

Feb 22, 2012

The player is meant to retrieve the mp3 file from the server through the path address that is stored in MySQL. It does this in Explorer but not in Firefox. By the way the swf file of the player and the database is stored on the same server so there should be no problem with that.

Flex :: File Upload - 4 FileReference With Firefox

May 11, 2011

I'm trying to perform a file upload using a FileReference from a Flex app running in Firefox 4. However when I attempt to call the upload() method, the Filereference throws an IOError with the following Error #2038: File I/O Error. URL: [URL] If I don't explicitly add a listener for the IOErrorEvent, then I get a Flash player popup stating SecurityError: Error #2000: No active security context.

The request doens't even hit my server (I can verify by placing breakpoints in the Java code and watching the HTTP Requests that go out using HTTPFox), so it seems to me that this is a client side issue (right?). I've done some searching for the problem on google and the suggestions included wrapping the upload() call in a timeout/callLater, and attempting to attach the sessionId to the request (since Firefox creates a new thread for the upload and doesn't attach the proper cookies). Neither of these approaches has worked for me. I don't experience this problem with Internet Explorer, only Firefox.

Javascript :: Cache A Swf File In Firefox Without Executing It?

Aug 17, 2011

I'm attempting to bring a swf file down to Firefox to cache but not actually execute. The swf comes from a different domain.

The following approach works in Chrome but not Firefox:

new Image().src = "www.other.com/foo.swf";

Firefox uses a separate cache for images.

This approach works in IE, but not Firefox:

<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" data="www.other.com/foo.swf" declare="1"></object>

The "declare" tells the browser to cache but not execute it. However, Firefox complains that the request is cross-domain.

Replacing Flash With Another File Adds Border In Firefox?

Jun 19, 2009

I have a flash that I took out of a template to customize. (I'm using CS4). Same size, hell mostly the same file with small changes. None of the changes were to the file height or width.I have looked all over the code, checked all my spacing/padding/etc, and went line by line through the code and it's identical...I preview it in IE and it's fine. Everything matches. I preview it in FF, and there is about a 10-15px gap b/t the header and the body. I am at the end of my rope! The rest of the site is just about ready to go live, and I can't do that until I figure this out.

Professional :: Satay Method: Firefox Crashes Swf File That Contains 3D Animation

Apr 14, 2010

I have a strange dilemn and the 3D feature in Flash CS4 seem to be the most obvious connection to the problem. I have a page with 2 different swf files ( both under 50KB), which use the satay method. One works perfectly, and the other struggles to work. The pixels are magnified, the 3D animation scales incorrectly, and moves very slowly. Eventually the browser crashes and the whole operation goes down.

ActionScript 2.0 :: GetURL - Getting Firefox To Open File From Exe When FF Is Set To Default Browser

Is there a work around to the getURL Firefox issue? I am having trouble getting Firefox to open my file from my exe when FF is set to my default browser. If FF is already open, the getURL functions fine. If FF is closed, I have to click on my button twice in order to open the file (ie, click once opens a blank window, click again and the file opens) I have FF 2.0.0.1, Flash MX 2004 Prof. I have tried setting an interval to have the getURL fire again but I can't seem to get it to work.
