ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash - (event.target.name).addEventListener Does Not Work?
Aug 18, 2010
I have an array and want to add event listener to these. I have cards on stage and define their name using "event.target.name"HP Code:trace(event.target.name)returns the clicked objetc's instance name. But When I want to add event listener to these, some problems occur.I try to use it in so many places like;
I am trying to make an animation with addEventListener, different buttons, same target frame. My problem is that the animation keeps changing automatically from one frame to another. Here's my zipped fla file.
I am a newbie in ActionScript 3.0. I want to make flash application that will zoom in object when on mouse over and write same text on the screen and zoom out object a clear text when the mouse is roll out.I have a probelm, when I roll over the object it zoom in the text appers and when I roll out the object returns to the default position. But when I roll over then I rool out and roll over again (not wait until zooming out is completed) the addEventListener does not stop and text is mixed (part pf the text is from first zooming in a nd part of the text ist from second zooming in)
This is my code: //import the tweenlite packages. import com.greensock.TweenLite;
I have a text field that has an html link in it with target='display'. So what i want to happen is when the link is clicked, flash opens a new window called display, then when another link(with same taget) is clicked, it will use the existing open window.
The problem is that it keeps opening new windows.
I know that this works in html, but for some reason Flash is not using the same window.
I have a for loop that loads a variety of movie clips that I want to have function as buttons. From what I've read adding an event listener is the way to go but I'm not sure how in this case. I've searched online and found a few articles that come close to what I need but not quite. Can't I just tack on an event listener for a mouse click on these objects and have it run a function I have defined elsewhere?Also in said function what code would I need to use to reference the button that was just clicked, would this. work?
I am trying to build a simple mock-up of a product my team is designing and I can't seem to get the addEventListener to work. At the moment, my mock-up contains code that Alex Lexcuk has written that deals with the page flipping animation. I suspect that it might be interfering with the addEventListener code I have written. I have placed my addEventListener code inside the Content symbol. I have uploaded my project to the following URL:[URL]
I have a Image XML menu that works well, but with a litle problem with target in TweenMax. I will post only the code that is relevant to resolve the problem
I have a MC in library, and inside I have 3 movie clips, img_mc, bg_mc (this is a background for text) and title_mc (inside this mc I have a textfield named title-txt).
I create a for loop for the MC, and I use e.currentTarget in my tween animations.
When I hovered the title_mc is suposed to scale the background, but because bg_mc are in back of the text, the hover don't works. I do not know how to target the title_mc for on MOUSE:OVER scale the bg_mc.
[Code].....
This Last piece of code don't works because title_mc is over bg_mc.
If I put in event MC.container_mc.title_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OUT, out_bg); the Text will scale too, and I don't want this...
Kirupa's tutorial on how to use Flash to target a certain frame in HTML doesn't work any more. The page opens up in a new window instead of in the targetted frame. This is the code that is used: on (release)
I am trying to add a simple "getURL" type of functionality to a movieclip so that when it is clicked on, the user is taken to a url. i have tried 3 or 4 different ways to do this that all work when i test the movie clip in flash. However, when i embed the swf in a webpage, the click function does not work.I created a function:
Code: function gotoPage(event:MouseEvent):void { var targetURL:URLRequest = new URLRequest('http://www.metteradvertising.com/marketing-help.html'); navigateToURL(targetURL); }
and I'm calling it this way ("Bmeasure" is the movieclip name):
How do I call this function for multiple listeners without IDE timeline and frame names, using external classes? Im moving my timeline code to classes, and Im stuck with this..
how can i access event.target outside event listener method.say for example
my_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onC); function onC(e:MouseEvent):void { var m:MovieClip = e.target as MovieClip; } trace(m.totalframes);/// not working
now what if i want to get totalframe property of m instance, in short for every movieClip clicked.
I have these buttons in a movie clip and I would like to have only one event listener for the parent, using event.target to point to the children. I have also tried event.currentTarget, and it didn't work.here is the code that works:
Is it possible to access the type of object being interacted with so I can create a new instance of the same object? So for example in the code below I have the movieclip myItem. After it's clicked it is removed from stage and then moved to the inventory. When I click on it there, is it possible to create a new instance of mcItemToDuplicate using the event information parameters? (while allowing myItem to be where it is).
My code looks something like this:
public function moveclip() { var myItem:mcItemToDuplicate = new mcItemToDuplicate(); stage.addChild(myItem);
i'm new to AS3. Couldn't understand what some of the explanations out there are getting at, so i decided to post it here. In the code example below, what does event.target & event.currentTarget point to?
I have preloader code in my main FLA, and I load the corresponding preloader (a small file) externally. When I detect that the file is fully loaded, I need to add the listener to the content that I want to "preload".[code]If I use it this way, the loaderInfo listener does not work, but if I add the listener ouside of the handler function, it does.The problem is, I need it to work from within the complete handler, because obviously, the preloaded can show the % completed only after it's loaded...
I have a boolean variable, projectsLoaded that is set to false when my application loads. As i'm sure you can imagine, when the final project module loads, I set the variable to be true. Is there a way I can trigger a series of functions to run once that variable is set to true?
Does addEventListener(ErrorEvent.ERROR, handler) handle all type of error event, for example, IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, SecurityErrorEvent.SECURITY_ERROR, and other all error events? I'm looking for addEventListener() version of try catch(e:Error)(e:Error can catch all type of errors).
In Flash Cs3 it acts exactly as i want, the ENTER_FRAME runs and the addObject places numerous sprites on the stage. In the window output i'll see the trace. But when i run this code in Eclipse which is set up to use the Flash Player as output i get the first trace from EDHV_ImageSlider but the traces inside addObject won't show up, the sprites however are generated perfect.
The difference between the eclipse setup and the cs3 setup is the fact that the cs3 setup has a *.fla which calls the *.as package.
I have a Flex 4 List component which I have tied a click event to. In my event, my assignment of the source file paths works just fine --> my larger image displays just fine when a thumbnail click happens. My problem comes when trying to attach elements of the dataProvider to text inputs on another panel. Actionscript is throwing an error. Can someone point me in the right direction??
Is it possible to grab an event, hold it in a class property, do some action, then, when that action is complete, dispatch an event and then retrieve the original event.target in the listener?I am trying to avoid using a custom event for now, as it is giving me massive amounts of heartburn when dispatching it from a loaded SWF.Here is some code (that doesn't work)what I am attempting to do:
I am able to stash the event in a class variable, and then access it later, but the cherry on the icing would be to get it from the event fired withing tweenHandler() in my example above.
Edit: Well,it doesn't look possible.I am currently storing the retrieved event in a property _event and then getting it at a later time when I need it.This seems to work, but isn't wonderful.
I'm using this.loaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE to call a function when the flashVars are available as many tutorials/examples suggest. Is it correct to use it in the root of the main swf? The event is often not firing in firefox.
Here's the test code. Am I doing something wrong?
Code:
import flash.display.Loader; import flash.events.Event; var flashVars=new Object();
Could someone explain when does local SharedObject triggers event handlers added via addEventListener?I have tried and it doesn't trigger, after flushing.For example i have two object.swf both in separate browser tabs.I'm adding data inside object.swf on one tab and want event to be triggered in object.swf from another tab.Is it possible with native functionality and without remote type of SharedObject?Ofc i could write infinite loop and check local storage for changes, but it's the last solution i would like to implement.I was reading docs and played with example over there, but it doesn't trigger event, even if it is added before flushing.[code]
