ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash To Hold On Frame Till Sound Finishes
Apr 22, 2009
I'd like to know if there's a wait to have flash hold on a frame till a sound finishes playing. I'm guessing that this will require some sort of EventListener but I'm pretty new to AS 3.0 and I'm not sure how to do it. I've searched the forms but cant seem to find anything on how to achieve this either, but I think thats because I'm not sure of the correct terminology.
I am trying to make a webinar in flash, I have frames and in those frames I need to insert audio and when the audio finishes it goes to the next frame automatically. but I also have a menu bar and when I click on a button to take me to a frame i get a whole load of audio going on. I just need it to go to that frame and play the audio Just want to be able to have it play though, when the audio finishes it goes to the next frame or if i click a button on the menu it takes me to the frame i need,
I have a character that uses the arrow keys to move. Key_Down sends him 10px left or right per press and when you let go he stops. easy as pie. What I've now added in is that when you press either of those keys it also plays a "walk" sound. In order to stop this walk sound I then added Key_Up and specified that the sound should stop via SndChannel.stop();
At first it was working fine, but there was the issue that if you held down a directional button the sound would spawn multiple times and sound like crap. I added in a boolean to disallow this, making it so that only one instance will play at a time and it will loop. The problem now is, however, that the initial SndChannel.stop(); under the Key_Up listener has stopped working. Instead of stopping the sound immediately on key up, it waits until the sound file has finished and simply stops it from repeating.
I've got a movieclip (slider_mc) -- it's two 800x150 rectangles spaced 450 pxls apart on y. (Stage is 800x600).I load in the sounds, then when each sound is finished playing it launches a function that plays the next sound, this works fine. I'd like slider_mc to move on y when each sound finishes. The first tween works like it should, but nothing happens when playSound_02 is launched -- the sound plays but the tween doesn't work.Here's my code:
I have code on frame one and buttons that I don't want to appear until later frames.This is my first time in Flash and can't figure it out. How would I write that?
I'm trying to make the UP arrow key disabled until a sound has finished playing. Is this possible?This is because other keys also play sounds and I don't want the sounds overlapping each other. Thus I'd also be trying to disable those keys as well whilst a sound is playing.
I have a sound bite (~500ms) and want when a key is pressed and held the sound is played.However, what I appear to be getting is the sound triggered to play every time the key down event is triggered (not suprising & makes sense since key is held down). This creates what sounds like several copies of the sound being played at same time only shifted slightly. Very ugly sound btw.My thought is to have a way that even if key is continued to be held down the sound bite is looped but not overlapped.Tried several things such as using Event.Sound_Complete listener, tracking the position, transformation things, timers, etc without success.
The subject title pretty much tells it all. I've got a flash project where a video component plays an external flv file. I've got a different flv file loaded at each keyframe. Right now the flv plays and then it stops and waits for you to click on the next video you want to watch. I want it to automatically go to the next keyframe and start the next video.
I just followed the Preloader AS3 tut, and it works! Unlike the other sites
I have Flash CS4 AS3, and when the preloader is finished, it takes me to the end of my movie.
I'm a total beginner at this, since I've only been using Flash for about two days now , but I learn extremely fast !
In very simple terms, please explain how I can start the movie from the beginning when the preloader is done.
Also I had problems locating the URL to the swf. I kept getting "can't locate URL" when I inserted "bones.swf" for the URL request. I had to paste my files into the folder created in the tutorial for it to work. What is the difference between the folder I created and the one created in the tutorial that allowed AS to recognize the URL?
Here's my script:
var l:Loader = new Loader(); l.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, loop); l.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, done); l.load(new URLRequest("bones.swf"));

I have about 30 very simple external swfs--each contain an image with tweened fades and rollover-to-pause/rollout-to-resume actions. They're loaded onto the main timeline one after another as a slideshow. It's an auto-play and loop: each image swf loads the next one on to the empty movie clip after it is done playing. (i.e., swf1's last frame loads swf2, and so on.)
This set up was fine until I realized that I should have a place-marker--something that indicates where you are in the slideshow. No other functions (go to next/previous) for the marker. I just need to show graphically that you're seeing the 5th of 30 images. The graphic is 30 dark dots that get filled in as you progress.
To do this, I figured it would be easiest if I designate 1 frame per image (=one swf) on the main timeline. So, frame 1 will load 1.swf and when 1.swf finishes, frame 2 will load 2.swf. This will make it easy for me to color in the appropriate dots according to where we are in the slideshow.
What I think I need to figure out is to "pause" at each of the frames on the main timeline until the loaded swf is done playing. They're all different in length--some are 50 frames and some are 90 frames long.
I almost had it figured out from massive googling, but I honestly don't understand it well enough to tweak what I've found to do what I want it to do.
Also, if there is a way that I can easily make the "place marker" work without changing the way it is currently set up (1 frame in main time line; 30 swfs that load one another), that would be even more awesome!
I am sure I will receive the beginner question of the year with this one: Just starting w/ Flash 8. Using AS2 to simply make a graphic (and its clickable area) proceed to next frame when clicked. When input : button.onRelease = function() { gotoAndStop(2) the movie proceeds to Frame 2 without a pause for the click event. I have tried a stop(); prior to the above function, but no action after click. Basically trying to understand why frame 1 with the event handler AS does not pause to accept the mouse click? I apologize for such a basic question, but my eyeballs are bleeding from trying to figure this out.
I've got a symbol on stage and a button. The button rotates the symbol CCW half a degree. Code: on(release){ mySymbol._rotation -= 0.5;} I wanna add an on (press and hold) action on button so that the symbol will be rotated continuously when the button is on hold.. I can't make this work for over a week now.
i want to give viewer the ability to hold and DRAG MC2 in MC1 MC1 is gonna be the frame, while MC2 will be some bit bigger than MC1 (the frame), in dimension. And the viewer would be able to HOLD and DRAG MC2's image in MC1's frame. Please guide me with the actionscript required for it ?
I'm having some problems with controlling my movie clips.
I've got a .fla (flash8) file with a combo box and a submit button. I want the drop box to hold the values of some frame names. On the submit the resutls frame just does a transition between the screens. On frame one there is this code:
Code: function comboDisplay (component) { combo = component.getSelectedItem().data; _root.gotoAndStop("results");
[Code]....
Is there something i need to do to read this as as a string or am I messing up the useage of _root? It wont go to the proper frame after the animation plays. heres a link to a watered down version with only the barebones of the file. [URL]
I was certain that this type of problem would have been previously discussed here or in a tutorial. I have looked quite a bit and could not find anything that puts all the pieces of my puzzle together.As the movie is playing (looping), I would like the movie to stop at the current frame whenever I click and hold the mouse down within the area of the container. Furthermore, I would like to be able to scrub the movie backward if I drag my mouse to the left within the container and as I reach the left end of the container, the movie is at the first frame. And similarly, I would like to scrub forward if I drag to the right within the container and as I reach the right end of the container, the movie is at the last frame. On top of this daunting task, I would like the movie to resume playing from wherever I have released the mouse.
Here is a file that I have started and I am pretty much at a loss as to where to go now. I know it has something to do with where the mouse is relative to either side of the container, but...how does one get it to work?Basically, I would like to emulate the functionality of the QuickTime Player - the one where you can grab the slider and drag it left or right to scrub in either direction and then upon release of the slider it resumes playing.I do not understand the media components in MX 2004, maybe this type of thing is "easy" to program in to one of those modules?
I tryed to create a movieclip that simulates the windows' windows, lets say it... this is my swf: [url]....at first look, it seems to work right. Its draggable and scalable just like a windows os frame. But so far so good, try to move the horizontal scrollbar thumb till it reaches its limit. Then scale the movieclip.
I hope I won't sound like an idiot, but this is my problem - I imported an SWF video file, it's an instance of FLVPlayback, named the instance 'video'. I need to invoke some method when the video playback is completed. So the question is - how can I do something when FLVPlayback ends? Using Flash CS 5.5, actionscript
Code I use: video.addEventListener(VideoEvent.COMPLETE, playbackComplete); function playbackComplete(event:VideoEvent):void
I have a windows media video which I have converted to flash video, that I would like to have users play through on my webpage - and then after the video is completed, it would open another webpage automatically in a new window.
After looking through the web I can't find a way to do this, but it seems like it would be something that could be done. I have converted my windows video to flash format, embedded it on my stage and am ready to add action script. I know how to make the video a button so that users would click on the video and then it would open a page, but I was hoping there would be a way that it could do this automatically.
