I've created a skin that allows me to have two labels on a spark button, but the button text won't center vertically. It stays at the top of the button no matter what settings I give it. The icon in the skin DOES however, center vertically. This is the skin:

I have noticed two differences between spark and mx forms which are causing me some problems. It seems by default the mx forms are arranged to the label is above the form input item. In Spark they are arranged next to each other. Also the label in spark forms are bold by default.For example MX code could be

I need to include an icon to the left of a label in my form. it would probably work best if the icon was part of the label. it seems to me that a form item cannot have anything preceed the label on the left side, is there anyway around this?

I have an Accordian in my application. Each child of the accordian has a label firstNameLabel) and a button (addPolicyButton). The label's value is being set via Repeater and an array. How can I access the firstNameLabel's value of 'selected child of the accordian' when the addPolicyButton is clicked?In following code testTextArea.appendText prints 'fname: undefined' in the testTextArea.Where as I can see in the accordian that the set label's text is set to 'Michael' which is what repMonitor.currentItem.firstName returned.

View 2 RepliesBy default the height of an Flex Accordion container is the height of the initially selected child. I'd like to be able to set the height to the tallest child so that no resizing or scrolling is necessary when other children are selected. I do not want to use the resizeToContent property. I want the size of the container to stay constant no matter what child is selected.
My current thought is to extend the accordion class setting the creation policy to "all" and then override the measure function to loop through all the children and find the tallest one and use that for the height. This seems a little kludgy though, so I'd like to know if there is a better approach. Ultimately my question is: is there a way to set the size of an accordion container such that the container never resizes and scoll bars are never necessary to display any of the children?
In a flex project that I have that is designed to scale 100% to the web window, I have a spark list. And I have a simple itemrenderer that takes the data and displays a name, and a message. Just think of it like a simple instant messenger display. The problem is that for my msg_txt label I want to give it a width thats the width of the parent list thats holding it.I tried turning the horizontalScrollPolicy to off, also tried width="this.parent.parent.width}" (as well as this.parent.width) for the spark label inside the item renderer. and in the label i tried some things like left="0" right="0" maxWidth="{this.width}" but nothing really does the trick.How can I make this label have a max width of the list thats holding it, AND make sure it resizes if the size of the browser changes and the list size changes?heres the list:

in it. How can I set color to every Label in my form (the same color for all) via CSS?
I have 2 advanced data grids, one above the other. They both have the exact number of columns, and pertain to each other in the same way. But each is showing different data, which is why I split into 2 grids. However, on each one you can resize the columns, what I would like is to make it so that if you resize a column on either datagrid the same column on the opposite datagrid resizes as well, so they are both always lined up.
View 1 RepliesWhen I have a Label on a Sprite for example, it doesn't respond to MouseEvents, or at least not correctly. For example, if I set buttonMode = true on the Sprite, the label won't have the clicking cursor. Is there a work around for this? Other than stacking another Sprite on top of it which seems very inefficient.
View 3 RepliesIf I want to align things vertically in a container, I'll use verticalAlign="middle", but this doesn't exactly solve the problem of truly aligning text vertically. Text is always too high vertically, so in the past, I've just adjusted paddingTop and paddingBottom to compensate, but that doesn't work as the font for _sans differs from operating system to operating system.
Given the following layout code, you'll see the problem:

What happens is pretty clear. The horizontal line gets aligned to the exact middle of the box, but the text is offset by some arbitrary amount. I assume that this is because of the text baseline alignment or something. Is there a way to fix this regardless of the font size and face? I'd like to have the line essentially go right through the middle of the text, ignoring the extra space possibly needed for below the logical line of text (ie: ignore the bottom part of "g's" and "j's" when laying things out).
I am trying to create a project where I have a homemade button with a label component inside converted to a MovieClip. I have added an event listener, which triggers successfully when I move into the MovieClip, but retriggers when I move into the label within the MovieClip. Is there anyway to tell it to stop retriggering and act as a single MovieClip, or would it be simpler to break down and just try to customize the Button component?

Notice how it thinks I mouseOut of btBox when the mouse went over the label, and went back to the btBox after I left the Label.
I have a flash page where I am loading another .swf into. With a button in the loaded swf I need to unload the loaded swf (where the button is) and navigate to a specific frame label in the parent .swf. I've tried to do the following in the key frame where the swf get loaded into I've put the following:

I basically want to first load the swf called "gallery_wonderland.swf". Then in the "gallery_wonderland.swf" there's a button called "contact03_btn" which I want to unload "gallery_wonderland.swf" even though it's inside the swf and navigate to the frame label called "Contact" in the parent swf.
What can I do I've done similar before and it works, but when I do it know and I click the contact03_btn it comes with following error message:

I'm having some issues aligning the header text of a datagrid. I'm using an embed font for the header text, and when applying the css, the header text behaves as if I'd set the text vertical align to top. I'm trying to vertically center the text, but haven't found a way to make it work.

I have a web app built in Flash Builder 4.5. Its dimensions are 1150 x 900. When I try to view it on a smaller monitor or lower resolution, I can only scroll horizontally. I need it to scroll vertically. Is there a setting I am missing or could it be something else. I am not going to post any code at this time because I do not believe it is a syntax issue. I have a parent class that instantiates a MenuClass and handles transitions between pages.[code]And here's the MenuClass which creates forward and backward buttons. Clicking each will tell the above ParentClass to transitionForward() or transitionBackward() respectively.[code]One one hand, I feel like the MenuClass is too tightly bound to its parent and is thus less reusable. On the other hand I feel like, in the interest of keeping everything self contained, it's not the ParentClass's responsibility to reach into the MenuClass instance and add event listeners there. This seems like there should be some kind of OOP rule-of-thumb to govern this kind of relationship.Is my MenuClass too tightly bound to its parent? And if so, do you have any suggestions that would loosen that coupling?

Now if I start the application the MyComp-component is about 200px wide and starts to expand its width to infinity. This is like some transition or animation and I don't know how to stop it. Setting something like maxWidth would solve the issue, but I don't want to set explicit values.
